"Baily Park" was a real neighborhood just four miles from my home when I was a kid. It was the American dream. Our 2 bedroom, one bath small home was my dad's dream home. He was so proud of it, and it was a good life for us kids. A short walk to school, a park near by. Nice neighbors. Playmates next door. Thanks, dad. You did all right.
The greatest movie ever made! I liked your pajamas Clarence! I was in love with Donna Reed immediately! Thank you Frank, RIP Bedford Falls. Merry Christmas Martini's!
imagine living in one of those houses on that street with the trees- now imagine you're watcing the movie itself and then watch George running past those trees yelling, then you relalize those trees are outside your front house where it was filmed nearly 80 years ago
That's actually what happened to me! I used to live at the apartment building on the spot where the old RKO set was (with the trees) and had no idea I lived at the Its A Wonderful Life spot until I started research for this video. It blew my mind when I found out haha
Very well done my freind !! On a great great movie !!watch it every Christmas eve!! And the 4rth of July!!! Keep it honest !!! Merry Christmas old building and loan !!!
One of my favorite all time movies. It kills me the trees are still standing after all these years too. I have been to Seneca Falls a couple of times and have to say that Bedford Falls had to be inspired by Seneca Falls.
I definitely want to go there some day! I love this movie. I used to live at the apartment building on the spot where the old RKO set was (with the trees) and had no idea I lived at the Its A Wonderful Life spot until I started research for this video.
@@smalltownpictures I was in the Adirondacks a few times and I stopped off in Pottersvillle for a pizza. Yes, there is a Pottersville in upstate New York, I've been there, and its pretty far from Seneca Falls!
It's a Wonderful Life is my favorite movie 🎥 of all time. I heard it was connected to Seneca Falls, I never knew that it was filmed in California! I loved the way you presented this story, I love your narration, how you sounded like James Stewart. Thanks for posting this video! Best wishes to everybody in the new year!
Thank you for this most wonderful video. Loved your writing, locations, and of course, your marvelous Jimmy Stewart vocal impersonation. You're so talented and gifted. Thank you.
Hi, we moved from SC to Riverside this year and finally made it to look for the trees on the former RKO Ranch property. I just saw the comment about trees in the Balboa Park parking lot. Missed those! In the video we were trying to understand if you were saying that oak trees somewhere on Ostrum Ave are actually the ones from the scene of GB running through town (and yelling Merry Christmas)? We drove around & took pics & video on that street but weren’t sure. I’d love to know the specific directions to identify that particular row of trees. TIA!
I was just there @ Encino Village yesterday. The 'Genesee Street' set in the 1946 film was about 200 ft (5 houses) north of current Hatteras St. and ran parallel to it on an east/west axis, from current Graves Ave. to current Wish Ave., near the east perimeter of the RKO lot (where the "You are Now in Bedford Falls" sign was located). In 1954 the entire property was sold to developers, graded, and re-landscaped. Most new streets were re-aligned north/south. The massive "It's a Wonderful Life" sets were demolished and multiple rows of houses built right on top of the foundations. I believe the famous trees in the movie were boxed and had been planted temporarily in a trench that ran the length of the street set. The trees were probably removed and relocated on the RKO ranch property right after filming. You don't see them in aerial photos from late 40's and early 1950's, long before sale of the RKO lot. The Encino Village architects also brought in hundreds of additional small oaks for residential landscaping. The original trees may still exist somewhere in Encino Village but (at this late date) I think it's impossible to positively identify any specific trees from the "It's a Wonderful Life" production.
It's a Wondeful Episode! It's so funny and excellent made including Jimmy's impersonation. By the way, what's the reference to 4:13? Are te oak trees on Balboa's parking lot really the original ones from the movie? Kind regards from Germany
Love IAWL. Would like to visit Seneca Falls, New York. Just a purely constructive criticism: the Jimmy Stewart/George Bailey voiceover wasn’t quite loud enough and had too much room sound making it harder to hear-maybe because of not being close enough to the mic?
That fictional town had a soul. The area in which it was filmed is now typical 21st century Los Angeles with no soul. I just felt so sad at the reality of it.
What I remember about, its a wonderful life is how it shows the value of a single life, how a young mad who did not die of a pharmacy mistake save 200 shipmates, and how a man who opened up home ownership to everyone who had the money to pay changed a graveyard into a housing development. Then the angel showed George Bailey how one man can make a difference. The two cops "Bert and Ernie" went on the be Muppet famous stars.
I barely remember any of the physical scenery, but the show that one person can make a huge difference in so many lives, like his librarian wife Mary, the 200 men who were saved from death, and the housing development that brought people from renters to homeowners are that big things. FYI I loved Bert and Ernie
No no no . This Bedford falls set was used later for back to the future and later for ghost whisperer...I took the tour years ago..plus educated on all of this! By gosh !,, research...you will see!,, omg! 🙄😤🤪
Doing a voice impression of Jimmy Stewart for the video - a little silly. Doing a bad voice impression of Jimmy Stewart for the video - stupid and annoying.
"It's a Wonderful Life" is rated the #1 inspirational film of all time.
Dear George:- Remember no man is a failure who has friends. Thanks for the wings! Love Clarence

@@smalltownpictures Bring your camera. It's a quaint little town. The Women's Right Museum is very interesting too.

Flint Ridge looks like a great town. Those ranch style houses are about 1.5 million now!

Annoying but painful
Insulting voice over, and you shouldn't use all caps on that font for titles.
Ok Mr. Potter whatever you say.
Some one hasn't taken his happy pills today...
