Maggotty is a settlement in Jamaica. It had a population of 1,335 as of 2009. Maggotty was a bauxite mining town in the 1960s and 1970s. The Revere bauxite plant polluted the Black River, Jamaica's longest river

Great video bro Maggotty is a irie town fr. Lol at 0:34 there is no crocodile that far upstream because leaving Maggotty the black river goes way downhill with river rapids and steep cascades. Also its totally safe to cross the bridge because I went there in November 2021

I went to Maggotty secondary school in the early 70s, that little town square had a drug store, a Bata shoes store and some bars and the biggest market where people as far as Trelawney, Manchester, and Clarendon would come to sell. It was particularly vibrant when the Revere Bauxite was in full swing. There were plenty of Chinese people who use to run many of those stores. It pains my heart

Years ago I use to take the train to Maggoty and then wait on a bus to go North to Elderslie. What memories.

@@originalfoxylady4520 so true, there use to be the diesel and the train and I also use to take a bus that travelled all through the lower towns including Balaclava, Siloah, Maggoty, Retirement, Jointwood, to Elderslie where my grandmother still reside. Those days were days to cherish. I am 59 yrs old and it's as if it was yesterday.

Bless up son, this brought back memories of when I came there about 10 years ago. I loved it even though it was shacks. I remember the kids uniforms based on what grades they were. The little stores where we bought fresh baked bread by a half of loaf. Getting water in buckets to boil on the stove so I could take a bath and on friday night the men playing dominoes and the kids playing in the street and the women upstairs in somebody house cooking eating laughing and sewing. Life is funny even though everybody was struggling they was happy. My friend used to live by the phone booth and we would take a bus at the post office to get to her house. I often wonder if Ricky keith or Cynthia is at. Please do more of these videos. Lik a mor.

St Elizabeth is known as the Garden Basket of Jamaica . It has several places of interest like Lovers Leap / YS Falls / The Black River Safari Park . There are many things of interest including the Sangster Rum Distillery plus wonderful Beaches that are less crowded than the major resort areas . Close to Black river , Dolphins and Manatees can be sighted out at sea . Treasure Beach is the resort most associated with the Area .
