How Chinese People Beat The Pizza Hut Buffet
Вставка
- Опубліковано 22 січ 2024
- When Pizza Hut began opening restaurants in China, they included a large salad and fruit buffet in the restaurants. But the rule was; each guest was only allowed to make one trip to the salad and fruit buffet and they were only allowed to fill one plate. This led many Chinese diners to start “salad stacking”.
This is probably the most Chinese response honestly

Actually the one plate rule was not originally set. They underestimated just how much the Chinese people would eat and stay around to eat. The stacking occurred after the rules put in place
Dude, they didn't underestimate...it's literally why they had the one trip / one plate rule. You must not understand life in China, but as a Chinese I'll explain...there is a huge phenomenona here of "serve yourself" type restaurants getting swarmed with people who take WAY too much individual portions and have zero respect for people that come after (as in, they don't care if there isn't enough for others); same goes for sales in stores, and I'm not talking about just Black Friday like in the West...but ALL types of sales for any item...people will swarm and try to take as many of the same item as they can, and these are normal people and not scalpers.
It it theorised the main reason this happens here to the absurdity it does is due to the extreme poverty that China had in the not so distant history (extreme poverty still existing in most of the country tbh, but not at the same level)...people were hungry, they didn't own much if at all, so when the country was reconstructing and people moved to cities they ended up (for the most part) getting better lives. However, while the OUTSIDE of society seemed better off, the "poor" mentality remained to give a culture where even rich and middle class still have a "poor" mentality of being greedy and needing it all because "they don't know if they'll need those things later". It's a big problem that I'm not sure how it will be fixed, Chinese society in general doesn't really engender caring about others outside your family...with zero respect for others...so it won't go away anytime soon.
