I was really surprised how good his Swedish was.
That is actually quite impressive. Really rare to hear someone, that hasn't learned Swedish by 13-14 or so, speak it with such a good accent. Even more rare probably for someone having English as a native language. I guess he is rather gifted.
Fascinating. Speaking with him briefly you wouldn't probably even realize Swedish isn't his native language.

WOW! That Swedish accent is spot on. If I had just heard him speak Swedish I probably would have been fooled into thinking he was Swedish. And that is very unusual for someone with English as their first language even after living in Sweden for several decades!

@@danielengstom1127 My English teacher lived in England for quite a long time before moving back to Sweden. That's why my English "break" in the Queens English. Other than that I speak Skaraborgska.

This is very random, but I feel like I’ve heard his voice in some late 90s early 2000s Disney movies dubbed to Swedish. I’m honestly so caught off guard every time😂

That is insanely good swedish! He's got barely any accent. That's the best swedish I've ever heard from an English speaker. He sounds like a native speaker. The parts that are off could be attributed to a dialect. If I didn't know that he's not a native speaker, I would never have guessed based on what was said in this interview at least. He had nothing to be embarrassed about.

His Swedish accent is way better than my English accent. It's most impressive that he still speaks it so fluently and clean after not living here for so many years. I'm engaging in English speech everyday and still I can't speak it that clean. If I'd ever meet Richie I'd be more comfortable speaking Swedish with him just to hide my Swenglish.

Musicians usually have "good ears". (Most *good* musicians, anyway...) Meaning that you're able to *quickly* pick up and memorize a specific melody or sound, and then repeat it. This is also very useful when learning a new language.
Richie's Swedish was almost *eerily* perfect, though. I guess it's partly due to the fact that he was still very young when he lived there. Once you're past your teens, learning a new language usually becomes much harder. (O tal vez me he vuelto peresozo...)
Totally agree with this. I hear different languages as music with their own cadences, rhyhtm and tone. I can pick up languages quickly like this.

I thaught about that too! The first couple of seconds I thaught (Sorry to all the fans for not knowing who he was, I just wanted to hear people try to speak swedish right now in the middle of the night and this video came up... ;-) ) he WAS a swede being interviewed i english! =D Then I heard that it was definitely not the case, but yes, it did come back from time to time during the interview. =)
