I have Huion Kamvas 13 with an anti-glare film pre-applied. after almost a year of usage with frequent cleaning, there still are many microscopic scratches in the middle of the screen that I draw on the most. very tempting to peel it off because the scratches are visible even when the screen is on and it's very annoying.
I've used a Gen 2 Cintiq 21UX for 11 years with no screen protector. I have some minor scratches that can only be seen when the screen is off and I'm looking for them. The 2 dead pixels bother me more than such really minor wear/tear.
if you live in an area with lots of dust you MUST use a screen protector, i live in a desert and small dust always falls on the screen and if my pen happens to land on that small particle it deeply scratches the screen

I think it all comes down to how intensely one uses it. People who use a single tablet for hours daily will inevitably get their tablets scratched. Can't speak as much for the cintiq models with built in etched glass, but yes the regular tablets + the cintiqs with the matte screen protectors definitely do have that circle shaped area of wearing down at least after a year of usage. For the regular tablets that's fine, but the cintiqs you look directly at the screen and idk if that worn down area will affect the colours underneath and stuff. I don't see why you wouldn't want to protect an expensive cintiq honestly. Better safe than sorry tbh, but in the end it also comes down to personal preference (some people are annoyed by that extra screen protector).
@@MAXRAY-bw9kv Yeah keyword is for glass, my Cintiq13HD's matte surface is due fo a built in screen protector (that isn't glass) so wear is expected. Actually, I have been using it without one since May and wear in the most used areas is already present despite regularly cleaning it and I'm actually lighthanded generally... so yup.
i was bought my wacom one a 5 months ago. but recently my tablet screen is scratch from dust in my house, but lucky scratch is not deep damage and unfortunately it is visible scratch. drawings and pen is works well without problems. i had been careless for wrong cleaning wacom with full of dust, that's why i bought the protective film for wacom in a few days.
My phone screen is always in my pocket and it has not a single scratch 😀. Never use your shirt or a used cloth to clean your screen and you will almost certainly never get any noticeable scratches.
Thks but I'm lazy so I'm getting a bunch of good cheap screen protectors, will do a great job applying them, & a good light protection case. Yeaps, I still gots to clean it but I gets to abuse it a little more (lazy remember).
I actually use two screen protectors on my iPad Pro 12.9. One is tempered glass and is adhered to the screen and one is placed over the top of the tempered glass and has a paper feel. When I am not drawing I remove the paper feel one as it is magnetic. Never had any issues with sensitivity and never will have a scratch that I have to be concerned about. I have used mobile devices since Android became a thing and all my devices and tablets have had some type of screen protector, none of the devices have ever had a scratch or screen break but in two instances the tempered glass cracked due to dropping. The screen protector did the job it was meant for, it protected the screen. a couple of dollars of insurance can go a long way.
Do people buy screen protectors for their Cintiq’s? Didn’t know it was a thing. I have a phone screen protector. Don’t you guys in America not have phone accessory places where there is a dude that puts the screen protectors on your phone? The protector costs around $20 AUD, but since I already spent $1500 AUD on my iPhone not sure it’s worth cheating out at that point.

You don’t need it for glass as long you don’t use metal and keep it clean

Great tips but they don't apply to the Wacom Cintiq 16/22 as they are so prone to scratching even with maximum care.
I own both models and neither are unusual in terms of scratch resistance.
