- This is the Modern Arnis 6-count drill as created by GM Remy Presas Sr. This partner drill is based on 3 strikes that are mirrored by each participant. This drill has also been called the 6 count SUMBRADA. Note how the late GM expresses this drill in both stick and empty hand versions.

I never got to train with him, but my instructor did. He was an instructor under GM Remy. I am grateful that I was able to experience and train in his art. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing this.
I had the pleasure of training with the Professor from '76 to '78 in Fresno. It was a life changing experience and has served me well for 43 years. RIP Professor!
As a self studying of arnis and pilippino, it must be nice to know him well.
@@hihe530 It was an honor to know him and study with him. We were some of the first to study with Remy when he arrived in the US. It has changed my life in many ways, and opened doors that I never imagined.
Respects to you, sir!!
@@hihe530 Are you still training? Self-study can be hard. I hope you are still training. 🙏👊
@@mikeyuskiw3477 I've been training less lately but I finally understood the basics and fundamentals of Arnis for the last two years and a half months.
So far kind sir, I haven't tested it outside
Always great to see GM Remy's videos - I miss him very much! Glad to have gotten almost a decade with him (and being his dummy countless times - ouch! but great way to learn by feel).
I would have loved just to train even a little while with this LEGEND. Everyone borrows from modern arnis but they don't give credit to Remy
The few times that I've training with you, Chad, Tim, Rich, Craig (et all)... I get to see little pieces of The Professor. See you at Hock's seminar!
Judy and Jim Clapp, the first two Uke for The Professor, owned the Delaware school where most of this series were filmed. They were instrumental in bringing Modern Arnis to the area.
The Great Remy Presas! Awesome! 🙂👍 I'm glad my sensei introduced me to his art.
I love to watch the power and grace of modern Arni's techniques.i also love that it is open hand as well as weapons.
Just as I remembered how he taught us as a youngster. RIP GM. " You Si you do like dat Oh..Bang....Bang!!!"
awesome video series,I will buy it again on dvd.
Very nice count and its transitions. It reminds me of Estokada 3-3 of 12 PARES Styles👍🏽👍🏽
I study in Italy from rendy remolin, presas style moderna arnis.the best art martial ever..for me 👍
Trés bon exercice éducatif.
Mabuhay Ang Pinoy Arnis!!! Professor Remy A.Presas will live forever in the hearts of FMA lovers. Mabuhay Sa Pinuno!!!
This is another form of Sombrada. Pretty cool.
Who else knows how to perform six count. Modern Arnis is much fun. I train under one if his ex disciples. I wish I could have trained under Grandmaster Remy.
The GR8 GM Remy Presas!!! The Filipino MA is at the top of the charts in JKD Concepts. For those who learn and teach, please also teach the history of the Filipino people relative to combat. Before it was called Arnis (Spaniard forced influence), it was Kali. Much respect and adoration to the culture of the Filipino people
gaboradi kali is an invention of our fil-american cousins. Arnis was once a warrior art without a name.
does anyone know if the longer videos are still on line.they were great,

You wouldn't want to have run into him on the street, with ill intentions...
This was developed for fighting and killing with machetes in the jungles of the Phillipines. It's not a sport.
@@jimstretch6109 Thanks for pointing that out. There are still that think competing in the UFC and other "Octagon" type competitions make them the ultimate badassess. There's a difference between fighting for survival and competing for a belt or a purse.
