As previously said, I was born in 1962 in England. My Dad was a 6' ex WW2 soldier. He was a very kind & loving dad, but you knew when you'd over stepped the mark by the look on his face. He only hit me once when I swore at my mum. He never had to hit me again. Just a look was enough. When Kids realise that they can do anything they like without any negative consequences & threaten to call the police even if the parents shout at them they turn out to be the little shits that we have running around like gangsters. My Parents were amazing & I thank them for the discipline and good behaviour they taught me.
@coot1925 - in a way some kind of circle within society, and how it reponds to changes, but also education itself (especially basic philosophy which long ago was part of a lot of Uni courses, 6 months only but it was enough, where sometimes you had to argue multiple points, from different point of views). All in all: "Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times."
On a different note, Mom was the wielder of the slipper and the wooden spoon. If Dad ever felt the need to get involved, which I can count the times on one hand, we knew our miserable souls had been forsaken. My brother cried for two hours waiting for Dad to get home from work one time after hearing the dreaded phrase, "I'm letting your father handle this."
In my case, my mom hardly took a role. All my dad needed was an open hand, and only a few times before dumb kid me got the message. Just look at kids and even young adults now. It shouldn't be a hot take that corporal punishment needs a comeback!
YAY, more comedy, and even better than that, more of Maddy's smiles and laughter!! I was raised in the 60s and 70s and most definitely had by behind tore up. Not just at home, it happened at school too. It's was consequences for bad behavior, not abuse. I believe it taught me respect and responsibility for my actions. I hope everyone has a great weekend!! Laughter is great medicine! ✌️☮️🤙🤟😂❤️
Had to pick my "switch" more than once as a kid. My grandmother was brutal, heh. Mum broke a wooden spoon on my and dad split a cutting board on my butt. My brother and I were laughing so hard he lost it, lol.
My dad used to build tires for the space shuttle. He designed a paddle to use on us when we got out of line. That thing would conform to your curves so easily. Damn I hated that paddle. lol. Like your videos as always.
Taught by nuns. They would hit us for no reason to keep us on our toes. I grew up realizing that if I talked trash I would get hit. New gen has no idea.
You’ve got possibly one of the most infectious smiles around. Discovered you with your Norm reaction to his bit about Janice, subscribed because of the smile
My mom whooped me and my sister's ass with a wooden spoon as children of the 70s-80s. Sometimes the wooden spoon would break because she was so mad. We both grew up okay. My sister and I would cause all kinds of trouble as kids; theft, vandalism, setting fires, etc... We earned our whoopings. Kids today don't get a big wooden spoon broken over their asses and it shows.
I'm 71 and Yes Dad threatened to,but Mom was the one who chased us down and whipped our butt. Truth! I had the Best parents I could have had! Love your reactions Maddy!
Bill Burr's "Philly Rant" is the wildest rant ever. You should watch it. There is some back story on the situation that caused the rant but its the funniest most cruel rant ever
13:15 first time i hear another person say they like doing the dishes. i swear, people think i'm mental whenever i tell them i like doing the dishes :D
What makes Burr so great is there is so much truth in what he is saying. It's his delivery that makes him so funny. May I suggest another comedian? His name is Ian Bagg? I have recently got into his comedy and his crowd work is absolutely brilliant.
Mom used the hand and wooden spoon. If it was serious dad stepped in with the leather belt. When that belt came into the picture I knew I was in for a bad time 🤣
No guitar solos because of patience. Back in the day, it was a treat to take a break from the vocals and get lost, but now, everyone needs constant input. No time for just being in the moment.
I don't know how people can watch these videos and pay attention to the clip instead of looking at Maddy the entire time lmao. On a real tho, you're beautiful.
whenever i see people reacting on bill burr videos, i feel like i have a connection already, as i know this person has the same type of humor that i like, and here i see this beautiful lady and her videos are like bill burs and UFC top 20 knockouts! like maaan this my type of woman , i've been watching bill since 2015 and im a fan of him ever since, but until now whenever i feel down or sad i jusst rewatch any bill burr videos and it brightens up my day, his jokes never gets old literally! ❤🔥
My mom whooped me and my sisters when needed. She learned from her mom that wooden spoons across the booty would break, so my mom used metal spatulas for us. 😅
The Conan and Bill Burr segments are pure comedy gold. Nobody makes Conan laugh like Bill Burr and Norm Macdonald, but Bill Burr is a lot faster and more prolific with his appearances on TBS era Conan. Even if you don't react to them I'd recommend to ANYONE just to watch Bill Burr on Conan for pure entertainment value. I still watch like 15 year old bits I've seen a dozen times for a laugh now and again.
Maddy, I get a better kick outtá watching you laugh at Bill Burr (whom I’ve watched for as long as he’s been on UA-cam), but your laughter is contagious 😅😅😅
Yes my dad hit me when i was a kid the most out of my 2 sisters n 1 brother i was the oldest of the 4 n i got hit with his pants belt like 3 to 4 times each time i miss behaved now that i been through that i promised myself i would never do that to my kids if i have any i dont want them to go through it like i did when i was a kid it hurt alot n made me cry
I watched my mom and step pick out a paddle at a craft shop and my pops would bring us outside to pick the switch (branch) off the tree. Most of the time it was the fake crack of a belt...but not always. Still glad for all of it
The store thing was no joke. If you acted up in the store, you got it right then and there. I remember my mom telling us in the truck that if we acted up in the store that was it! And boy did she mean it. My dad just had to raise his voice and I would almost pee my pants. When I got older I asked my mom if we were hard kids to deal with? She said no, you guys were actually a lot better than most. If you want another funny comedy then check out Sinbad's live concert from Denver Colorado. It will give you all you need to know about growing up in the 70s.
as a young child, butt slapped by hand, later hand hurt, middle school, slapped with a stick, later stick broke, at some point it switched to belt, then it finished once I figured it all out lol
Can it be true? Have I fallen in deep like with an AI-generated reaction host? Why do I say that?

When Bill gives that little satisfied chuckle you know he's on a roll. And man, NO ONE makes Conan laugh like Bill does. The best!
Right?!
For folks like Conan, there is an added layer of enjoyability, I think. Since they're both Massholes. Massholes of Irish descent, at that.
Timothy Olyphant gets Conan pretty good too
And Norm
@@ER0CK5_ Whats really funny about Tim is how dry he can be and yet still be hilarious.
There is so much good chemistry between Bill and Conan. Love watching the two of them…

Lol my mom's go to was the wooden spoon, I have ptsd everytime I hear a silverware drawer open too fast (I totally deserved it)
In my case, my mom hardly took a role. All my dad needed was an open hand, and only a few times before dumb kid me got the message. Just look at kids and even young adults now. It shouldn't be a hot take that corporal punishment needs a comeback!
True story: Mom smacked me with the wooden spoon. It broke. I then got in trouble for breaking her spoon.
Moms ruled by actions, dads ruled by fear of those actions. These were the rules in the 70s.
@@ThorWildBoar NO WAY! Same thing happened to me 😄
The most genuine laugh you will ever see Conan do is with Bill when he describes Oprah’s reaction to Lance Armstrong. Classic
