      In general is interesting. For a long time, I’ve been using a laptop from 2009 that’s super outdated and slow. My friend told me maybe one of the reasons you don’t like writing your papers and doing web based things is because you don’t like
      Your laptop therefore you don’t like working on it. I thought that was silly at first but then I got this exact pad and ha can you guess what happened? I am always looking forward to doing assignments , st least most of the time lol

    Yay lefty! By the way, try searching for anything you wrote, and prepare for mind blown. No matter how badly you wrote, it somehow finds it. That to me is the most useful thing.

    I’m a freshmen in college and needed a computer (obviously) but didn’t want to carry so many unnecessary binders and juggle so many notes like I did in high school which was a complete mess but still wanted to physically write my notes down because I remember things better and it’s easier. Just bought the matte black sp6 because of you, thanks for the good detailed video! Very helpful!

    I'm coming up on my 5 year anniversary at work and can get an IPad Pro or Surface Pro 6. I was leaning toward the Surface since the IPad doesn't give you much access to the file system and this tipped the scale. See? You can teach an old dog new tricks. :-) And I just went back to school so your note taking tips are very handy.

    • @MadeleineFritz
      @MadeleineFritz  5 років тому +2

      Awww thank you so much 💛!!:) I think the main I reason I picked the surface was because you get all the benefits an iPad gives you (it can be a tablet) but functions like a computer!! Which is so cool. I think you’re really going to love it

    Hey awesome review! I was wondering how your notes were so neat. So is "zooming in" the way to write notes on Surface Pro? I was trying to write notes on my Surface Pro 6 without zooming at all on ruled paper, and was wondering why my notes aren't neat and appear "jittery". I thought something was wrong with my display digitizer which got me a little worried and paranoid.

    • @MadeleineFritz

  • @Dragoninja
    @Dragoninja 5 років тому +4

    HI Miss Mads, the app is called OneNote Web Clipper. Sorry about the misinformation. Anyway, with this app you can clip the whole article or just a part of the article. When you open the app you decide whether to clip the whole article or a region. If you select region then you can just take a specific part of the article by selecting that part you want to clip. It will send it directly to OneNote in your open Notebook and Section. it will create a new page for your web clipping. From there you can cut and paste to wherever you want to put it.

    This is really useful. I'm not a student, but I'm a writer and I'm looking for a device to work on my novel. I've been considering the Surface Pro 6 because of the 2-in-1 functionality. I also really like the Alcantara keyboard. I love writing with a pen on Notebook paper, especially for brainstorming. I love to color code my novel outline & use highlighters. The MSP6 seems way more efficient. What configuration do you have? I'm considering the i5 8GB 256SSD version. How much additional storage can the memory be expanded through the micro SD card? It's okay if you don't know. Down the line, I plan to get a laptop which would be good for 4k video editing, but it will take me a while to save up for it. I want a fun & light 2-in-1 in the meantime, which will serve as a secondary device later. I'm really impressed with the MSP6 so far!

      It’s a laptop and a tablet , so it’s probably her computer for everything note taking , research , essay writing , etc .

    • @DragonlordSVS
      @DragonlordSVS 5 років тому +1

      @@dollface1992 Well imho for most university students any surface is more than good enough so a PC isn't needed, for many even the GO would suffice.
      Now Engineering fields students might actually need something more heavyweight (either instead or along with the Surface) for eg solidworks and the likes or whatever else. They probably would also need something less thin and more breathable to avoid thermal throttling and an early device death as well as a dedicated GPU. But even they could still just rely on a i5 8gb surface, in a pinch and if they must, even if it isn't the optimal device for such workloads.
      Most students just need to use programs like word, Powerpoint, onenote, a browser eg Edge, a simple calculator and perhaps Excel at most. Few sectors have greater demands than that. So those basic jobs that most do could actually be done even on a celeron with 4gb RAM with minimal frustration. I mean my PC is an ancient core 2 duo 8xxx with 4gb DDR 2 RAM plus a really shitty GT 630 and I can do even simple photoshop, visual studio, anything "office", play FHD movies and up to AAA gaming in just HD with carefully adjusted options, although some stuff like huge PDF are slow enough to cause me frustration.

    • @nancylindsay4255
      @nancylindsay4255 5 років тому +2

      I have owned both. I'd say that the Surface Book is a great laptop that you'll occasionally use as a separated tablet. It's quite large and heavy to take with you. The Surface Pro 6 (or any Surface Pro), is both a large tablet AND a very satisfactory laptop that you will use easily BOTH ways and you will always find it easy to carry with you and to use either way. The Pro's keyboard has a much nicer touch for typing, too.
      Also, if this matters to you -- I almost never used the Surface Book while lying on the sofa or in bed. The Surface Pro, though, is fine that way! Its folding kickstand is great to prop up the tablet on your belly. I've even been known to use the kickstand to "hang" the tablet safely on a towel bar in the bathroom to provide music while I soak in a hot bath 😊

      Thanks for the video. Magyatar, I'm a Nephrology fellow and I recently switched from using an iPad Pro to a Surface 6. While both devices are amazing and the smaller Pro is more portable, it boiled down to how I use my device (and the fact I now have a Galaxy Note 9). The Surface is my primary study tool with all my books/articles, notes, and mind maps on it. I also use it to access the hospital EMR remotely. Naturally, it also serves as a secondary computer. And that's really what it boils down to. It's a real computer that is fully compatible with everything that now has good battery life and is fanless (base model). The mobile versions of the VPN software of our EMR (Citrix to access Epic if you're curious) as well as the mobile version of my mindmapping software (an invaluable tool for me when it comes to studying or prepping presentations/brainstorming) aren't as fully featured as the iOS counterparts. They are always workarounds but, considering they cost nearly the same, I decided to switch to the Surface Pro. But really, in the end, you can't go wrong with either. Costco has a 3-month return policy by the way so you can try that ;) I hope that helps.

This device wins big in being ultra portable and would be perfect for school and using it on the bus/train without the hassle of carting a 15' laptop. May look into getting one later this year as my HP laptop is 4 years old. While it's no good for video editing and gaming, I do have a custom desktop PC that can do this.

    I'm wondering if there is an option. To write with pen and then convert your writing to typed format. Im a counsellor and I constantly take client notes with pen and paper and then have to type it up on a data base which is very time consuming.

    So wheres the best place to pick one up at. Directly from the Microsoft website or amazon? Also which one do I get? SP 2019 with which specs or variants (if there are any)? I’m a student myself so I’ll pretty much need one likes yours I think...

    wonderful work flow... thanks for sharing how well OneNote works for you as well. Didn't come looking for insights on OneNote so it's a very happy bonus.
    I'm hunting experiences from people actually using tablets as, well, tablets. People who don't think of the pen as a "cute gimmick" the way 99%of reviewers seem to. You clearly get the whole value of pen input devices.
    I'm virtually sold on an SP6 (better battery life over the SP7) but have one last detail I'm looking to find feedback and that is comparing using a 2n1 flippable VS a dedicated detachable tablet like a Surface Pro. It's been surprising how difficult it is to sleuth that out.
    Anyway, thanks, I know your video is about a year old but it was perfect.
    PS: I'm an old broken down mathematician and am going to use the tablet to refresh my now mostly feeble mind and get back into my research just for the fun of it all. Only been 25yrs since I solved differential equations using Bessel functions. so weeeee...
    OH, kudos on using colored text in equation solving. They are also great saving time rewriting as you reduce or manipulate your equations. Each color used an represented related changes. Cuts down errors in rewriting with each chafe as well as saves page space.

      @@MadeleineFritz I can't organize myself with normal paper because a tend to loose pages so the surface really helped me having everything organized to study for tests. And I have teachers who change the text on the blackboard ever 5 minutes and change the position of the text or forget to write something down and then write it in a completely wrong position so with a digital notebook you can organize that mess way easier than with paper.
