Something you said stuck out to me, something about having a fresh start with a new Bible. I currently have She Reads Truth Bible CSB, it's my first Bible and I bought it on November 13th, 2023. I had a strong relationship with God but when I started college in January, I tried to keep reading my Bible but I got so busy with classwork and life that I stopped reading the Bible, I kept saying "I'll just read it tomorrow" and eventually I never got to it. I want to pick it back up, I'm on John 10 and it hasn't clicked. I have this atheist feeling such as "How can Jesus be who He is? How did His mother, Mary get pregnant with Him? She was a virgin." and 'How can any of this be true? I don't feel the forgiveness or the love or that He's with me." I hate that feeling, I have been a Christian for years. I was born into it, and I have always believed there was a creator, I grew up hearing the stories. Last year, I had the Christian glow, I lost that spark. I was so excited about college, I was happy. He turned my life around. He saved me from constant cyberbullying from Roblox, I was being more open like sharing my personality instead of pretending/faking it, and I was saying more yes' and fewer nos. He saved me from the life I was in such as depression, isolation, and wanting to end it all. He saved me and made me realize I'm more than my autism, He's the reason I'm in college. Now, I feel like my old self and I hate that, I hate that Satan's trying to get me. I want that Jesus glow. Anyway, enough of that. I'm commenting because I have a question and I hope you (Malachi) or someone else can answer, I'm too shy (mostly because of my autism) to DM you all of this because it feels too cringy to send to a DM. Which study Bible should I get? I only have $20 (I sadly can't work). Short question that's at the end of a LONG paragraph. Thanks for reading, if you did. I want to get the right study Bible so I can start this journey with the rest of everyone else. Maybe a new Bible will help me get back on track.
This is honestly so helpful. I just got baptized a week ago and have also started actually trying to read my bible a week ago. But I don’t know where to start, or how to understand it. ALSO, I recommend starting with the Gospel of John AND Genesis at the same time. It sounds like a lot, but Genesis puts the rest of scripture in so much more perspective.

I always start in Genesis (because I’m ocd and want to read the Bible from beginning to end), however, I always slow down around Samuel and Kings, stop reading and get distracted by doing something else for a few months. Problem was that by being only in OT, I always faced with a wrathful God. I have been in constant torment by the enemy feeling like I’m a terrible Christian never feeling sure of my salvation. While it is good to be truly convicted of my sin I was getting depressed and tempted to do other things rather than be in my Bible everyday, and this was causing me to wander away and get occupied by worldly things that made me feel better. The less I was in the word the better the enemy could keep bringing me down. I never felt like I could measure up because I’m such a sinner. It’s good for Christians to know these things but I think the enemy was loving the fact that I was seriously doubting my salvation because I hadn’t got to the New Testament yet. After a dream I had the other night the Holy Spirit put it on my heart to stop reading OT for now and to get right into the book of John. In John I could finally meet Jesus and hear the good news that I am not condemned and that I do have salvation because I believe in him. I highly recommend for every new Christian start in the Book of John, meet Jesus then read the rest of the New Testament, then go back to the Old Testament to see how Jesus fulfilled the prophecy. I am so grateful our good Shepard found me again and I’m finally going back to church after 30 years! Christians need the rest of Christs body to function. We can not go it alone even if we think we can with everything being online these days. We can not do anything without him. He is the vine and we are the branches. I had felt like a branch that had been dying and withering about to fall off because I wasn’t producing fruit. God bless you and your channel my dear. I even bought the same bible you have and the tabs! 😊 I love writing in colours too. I’m such an avid notetaker so I’m excited to dive in with my huge collection of highlighters. 😂 When you write in rainbows 🌈 you are constantly reminded of His promises. 13:31 personally I am currently reading in historical order just because that’s what I think will be easiest. If you do this though just look up “ Old Testament books in historical order” then same for the New Testament, because a ton of website will take single quotes and it’s so confusing 💗
Another alternative to a bible app on your phone - if you have a kindle or an eReader you can get a bible on that as well. I have a phone addiction, today is my first day back on social media for the first time in 3 days. I have a minimalist phone launcher that allows me to block myself from going on social media, but I still try not to use my phone during my bible time. I got myself a kindle, one of the ones meant for only reading, glare free screen that doesn't have apps or anything, no notifications to distract me and I have a couple versions of the bible on that. Also happy that your video is one of the ones I saw when I went back on instagram, I feel like the less time I spend on social media the more that time blesses me. I'm now finding the limited time I'm giving myself on social media to be productive and positive, rather than unhealthy and draining as it was before when I would spend HOURS scrolling everyday.
As an aside, loving the excitement you have for your bible. I'm learning how to be in the word and actually enjoy it. Its been a long journey but all the time and investment I've put in, where the whole experience was dry and boring and I just couldn't think of anything worse feelings wise, has slowly, slowly turned my heart towards enjoying scripture... A 5 year process... not a small thing. But I have a small concern. 2 Corinthians 4:2 "... We do not use deception nor do we distort the word of God. Rather, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to the heart of every man in the sight of God" can't remember the first part of the scripture, sorry. But this scripture comes to mind when looking at the Passion Translation. Its a distortion of the word of God. It adds to His word. Its not a translation- neither being a word for word or a phrase for phrase. Its technically not even a paraphrase like the message, which also presents some passages incorrectly. It has some things right, and a lot of things wrong. I think if the Lord wanted as scripture written more "passionately" He would have done so when it was written. Not send an angel named Passion to "fix" the bible and give the author "secrets of the Hebrew and Greek" (most of which, ancient Hebrew/Aramaic and coine Greek scholars understand already- and there are passages where his translation doesn't line up). Please, please, if anything please have a look at some critical analysis of TPT online. Even if you choose to continue using it, at least be aware about some of the problems in it.. I imagine you'd be better off with a commentary (there are free ones online) to help get deeper understanding, rather than TPT... I hope this doesn't come off angry or anything. But I really think the evidence points to this translation being a poor distortion of His word.
I currently have a NJKV and the CSB She Reads Truth bible! I ordered an ESV Student Study Bible with multiple translations, so I don't have to use my phone!

Serious questions not trying to judge at all. But what is the point of reading 1 chapter of a book and then highlighting it in the table of contents. I would think that it would make sense to highlight the book in the table of contents once you finish the entire book? That pink Bible is very pretty as well as the tabs do you know of the sell it in the KJV? That's my favorite translation.

Can you explain the passion translations? I’ve always been confused on what it is. It seemed shorter that the other Bible version.
The Passion Translation is only the New Testament, Proverbs, and Psalms! that’s why it seems shorter!

I'd say it ultimately depends on your Bible and the paper in it. You can always go with colored pencils to be safe.
