      Yamaha had a lot of its own Horror stories. On the two-stroke GPs they were eating there rave valves. On the four stroke supercharged skis they had a major issue with their timing chains. A lot of motors were lost. I love Yamaha but I guess once you push the limit of a small engine you get more problems

    Good job with your comparison, that being said comment in the beginning that clearly there was one winner over the other I think is a tad bit on the bold side. We're talking what one two miles per hour and although I appreciate the fact that you mentioned several times that speed isn't the end all be all I think it's good to remind the viewers that Yamaha has won more pwc championships then Sea-Doo or any other ski for that matter. I'll leave it at that yes I'm a die-hard Yamaha fan but I ride with works best. Unfortunate enough to work at a yamaha/seadoo dealership so I have my choice. Great review! My first time buying a Seadoo instead of Yamaha or Kawasaki and I'm definitely not doing anything BRP/Seadoo again. I'm ready to buy a couple more skis and some of the electrics as well but my 2021 Seadoo shipped with malfunctioning braking and reverse and other electrical issues leaving me and a child stranded twice, nearly causing a dock collision and 8 months later it's still malfunctioning and can't be ridden. Year warranty almost up and they have my money while I have dangerous garbage and increasing expenses for something that doesn't work.
    BRP and the dealership (RideNow) have brushed me off and I wasted an entire years vacations with a broke Sea-Doo and tons of unreturned calls and heartache. RideNow kept it for extended periods of time billing for the same warranty repair and ended up damaging the unit on the last repair then test drove it at the lake and brought it back to me with cracked hull mounts, hull seals hanging out, screws hanging out, service compartment broke and the new trailer scraped as well. Other visits had my trailer missing parts that they ended up taking off someone else's in repair right in front of us.
    BRP(Seadoo) ghosted me for months repeatedly. Basically the same story I hear from others is Seadoo is very unsupportive with their issues. With only 12 months warranty that's risky as I have been shown.
    I have to fly in town and check on the ski while it sits in storage as RideNow has basically told me they have attorneys go ahead and use my attorneys. I've strangely run into hundreds of people in so many areas that have had bad repairs, bad deals, damaged new units and major complaints that make this business questionable and seem predatory. Don't just take my word though. I don't even try and run into people angry at RideNow. Ask the community, look at RideNow reviews(and Metro Motorsports) on Google and Rip-off Report. I truly wish I had never heard of them and that I could rewind the clock on what was supposed to be just a quiet peaceful time quarantining with some jet skis and utvs.
    I'll be buying more vehicles but I am certainly not risking it from RideNow or BRP.
    That Gp1800 is the clear winner to me.

    Not sure how heavy the audio system is on the PX but for sure it will eat into the weight reduction it underwent. When the numbers are this close even the extra weight from the audio system on the PX will have measurable impact on performance. It would be like testing with one ski running half the fuel of the other. The test should be done with both skis in exactly the same feature configuration.

With the limiters removed, the Yamaha will most likely be faster since it has much less hull in the water. Performance of a ski can vary day to day depending on weather conditions, temps, etc. the important thing is we tested the Sea Doo and Yamaha for this test on the same exact day, which levels the playing field. It would not be fair to dredge up old results of the GP in great conditions and then test the RXP on a different day and call it a fair comparison.

      GreenHulk Garage in fairness to both skis, performance differences can occur between individual skis too. You could have just gotten a slower factory production ski. 2/10ths is not a lot of time, particularly if you're in the saddle with no timing equipment. Even with Vbox, there's variations in units and testing.

    • @GreenHulkGarage
      @GreenHulkGarage  3 роки тому +6

      HP between SEA-DOO 300 and Yamaha SVHO engines are very similar.
      SVHO engines deliver 250HP at 7300 RPM boosting around 7Psi, but before the speed limiter start to work, RPM goes up to 7700 and boost is around 10psi which make the engine deliver around 285 HP.
      Same thing happens with SEA-DOO… while the break in period is active, boost and speed is limited. Once you put the hours on it, the engine will produce between 7500 and 7800 RPM (depends on what model) and around 10 psi which makes around 290 HP
      Removing the speed limiter on both engines will make Yamaha to produce 10 psi (approx.) and around 7800 RPM so is going to be around 290HP (still has a boost limiter)
      SEA-DOO in the other hand once you remove the speed limiter will produce in ideal conditions 8000 RPM and around 13Psi (there is no boost limit) so is going to be around 300HP.
      Difference in speed is not coming from HP difference between the two boats, it’s coming from the difference in hull design, tunnel pump, pump, etc. That’s why also the handling , the feeling when you go through rough water , the cornering, etc… are so different between them.
      There is much more than top speed in those skis that should help you to decide which one is the right one for you.

      Well it's not really hull design compared to weight differences. The yamaha's are always lighter and Yamaha only uses about 80% of it's full engine horsepower. Seadoo uses basically 100percent leaving it to be just a bit faster. Ask any Yamaha mechanic or engineer. Yamaha on a dyno only produces about 262 hp compared to seadoos 290hp. In the past 10 years Yamaha has always had the lighter ski compared to seadoos. Horsepower to weight ratio has always made the Yamaha faster in previous years. Also in the circuit racing the GP1800R destroys the seadoo and has won almost every race in the past 7 years including the VXR series which dominated seadoo for 7 straight years in the racing circuit.
