My wife and I each have our own minivan! I call mine the Man Van. Half the price of a truck up front, better gas mileage, cheaper tires and maintenance, holds more inside than a pickup with a topper on the back (i can fit 14 bales of hay in the back), long lumber doesn’t stick as far out the back as in a pickup bed, doubles as a family vehicle when needed. Towing capacity 3500lbs. I have an enclosed trailer and a flat bed that I pull with it 👊🏻 Honda Odyssey baby! (Not a sponsor… yet 😉)

I cried actual tears when my husband seriously suggested we get a minivan. I felt like my last bit of dignity was going to be gone. But then it was ME who suggested we get a passenger van one month before we (surprise!) found out we were pregnant with our sixth baby. A minivan with 5 kids in carseats was just too cramped... I can't believe I have come to the point that I LOVE driving a 15 person passenger van (we removed the last row of seats so there is tons of cargo space. I don't even have to fold up the double stroller to put in back there. And two kids per row of seat, so they have ample space too. On road trips, it is SO EASY to just stand up and walk to the back to hand out snacks, sooth crying kids ..etc.) It's hard to believe how much my mindset has changed!

At age 63 my wife and I are on our fourth Toyota Sienna - one from each generation. The current generation with AWD and a hybrid looks great and has fantastic fuel economy. Minivans were great when the kids were young, but still great for our own cross country road trips, car camping and also when our kids (now in their 20’s) head out on hiking or skiing trips with a group of friends. Nothing beats the driveability, fuel efficiency and carrying capacity of a good minivan!

Dude I had a job for years in my early 20s where I would travel for work. I wasn't paid very much so........ I pimped out my 2002 Chevy Venture Mini van Warner Brothers edition (aka the gray ghost). I could fit an actual full size mattress in the back, I had a TV with dvd so I had entertainment, I could strap my kayak on the top, I got decent fuel mileage, it was great! When I was home for extended periods I would take my homeless gear out and it was the dedicated party wagon for going out with my buddies!! Sadly despite my best efforts it never became a shaggin wagon.... Womp womp.

We got a minivan in expectation of our 4th kiddo coming and we are SOOOO happy with our purchase. Not only does it work with 3 kids in carseats and one without, we can carry additional kids as well while still fitting everything we need in it.
Shortly after we got it my parents, my sister, her husband, and their two kids were coming back from a vacay in Hawaii with all their luggage in toe. My parents were going to hire an Uber because they didn't think we could possibly get them all into our van. We just laughed and said please don't waste your money. Sure enough, 5 adults, 2 kids, and all the vacation luggage fit comfortably in our van. They were amazed. And then my sister and her husband got one.

I love my mini van so much! We bought ours when I was pregnant with our first. It fits everything comfortably without being squished. Captain seats in the second row is a game changer for access to the third row. We have a little potty that sits between the seats in the second row and it’s come in handy more times than I count for little ones. Yet my fave part is the sliding doors! You can get kids in and out and buckled without worry of banging other cars in tight spaces.

We are on our 2nd minivan now and it is so incredibly handy, especially during the teen and college years. Moving my son back and forth to college is a breeze with the van. Having enough room for all the groceries my 3 boys consume (who are all cross country runners) is amazing! And my husband's personal favorite???? Watching all the SUV and shortbed pick-up truck drivers trying to fit plywood into their vehicles at Home Depot. He just opens up the hatch, loads the wood in, closes it, and drives away. The other guys are still looking for rope to tie their loads down. Who's cool now??? 😉

Our latest, a Kia Sedona, has been the best. Great value, great mileage, very comfortable, good looking, and reliable. Over the years, our minivans have hauled literally tons of construction materials through remodels and even new construction as well. Lumber, tile, drywall, you name it, we've hauled it in a minivan. Now that we are down to our last kid in the nest, it's going to be tough to buy or drive anything else. I hope our kids give us grandkids soon so we can have a great excuse buy another minivan. 😅😂

Got an Odyssey when we got our second great dane and when we added our first kid as well everything fits like a champ!
Minivans make the best great Dane hauler because the height of the tailgate is lower than any SUV (when they get old it's less effort to put a 150lb dog in the back), the interior floor to ceiling height with the seats folded down is at least 4' so they can stand upright in the back without ever feeling crammed (3' is the typical floor to ceiling height in most SUV's give or take an inch, and is also the typical shoulder height of a great dane).

Oh man this was literally my wife and I about 10 years ago in Virginia! We got the mini van because of our parents coming out to visit us and us having two kids. So much easier to just pile in one vehicle. Now our kids are older and our parents can't visit as much.
We also moved to Colorado, ironically, so we traded in for a Tesla and Tacoma. One thing we noticed right away was how everyone here was only into certain cars. Like Subarus, Teslas, Tacomas, and Jeeps. I mean it got to us and we fell for the hype also so I'm not complaining. I love my Taco! 😄

And having one as a rental one time….I was sold. It’s so nice and they are MUCH nicer than the ones when we were kids. I remember getting my finger slammed in the door when someone slid it shut. It’s a Lifted NV with a 4x4 conversion kit on it. Seats my wife and six kids with room to spare. Great for long family trips and even off-roading. By far, the most beloved vehicle I’ve ever owned. Look them up! I literally just loaned it to my buddy to take his daughters entire softball team to their tournament this weekend. Depending on what your needs are (towing, off-roading, camping?), you can also get a full size SUV or a passenger van (like a Sprinter). Both cost significantly more than minivans, may not have the sliding doors, but does tow and off-road better.

Pro tip. A three row crossover SUV is already a minivan in terms of (lack of) cool factor. It’s car based and low clearance just like a minivan regardless of what the rugged looking sheet metal looks like on the outside.
Just get the van. Cheaper. More space. More efficient.
Loved mine and now that I’m past that stage and have a sedan I actually miss it.

That's pretty funny. We had just one car (a Prius) for eight years with our three kids. The smashing of the three car seats into the back seat- so accurate! Then #4 came along and we got the Honda Odyssey. But now that we have baby#5 but are down to only two car seats and older kids, we just got an SUV to replace the minivan and I'm loving it! There is not an inch of spare room but I can actually talk to my kids without shouting and we can hear each other and I can see when they're leaving old food and shoes and socks in the back row without feeling like I have to climb into the wilderness. I can buckle my 5 yo into his car seat in the third row while I'm standing outside the car and not bent in half. It's wonderful!
