    Hey Phil! Thanks for maintaining the channel and the content you create man. I'm a newly graduated undergraduate student, and I wanted to ask if I could have some time to pick your brain about the process of further education, PsyD and PhD related?

      @@philsguidetopsyd Turn to bible and allow CHRIST to be your therapist, psychologist and psychiatrist. No man nor women fits to be one. All are sinners and without glory, all are tempted and suffer the same.
      All are expected to REPENT AND BORN AGAIN, to LIVE HOLY AND GO AND SIN NO MORE.
      All are weak in the daily fight between their spirit and flesh.
      All these therapist, psychologist and psychiatrist, this world provides, can do is:
      to deceive and steal.
      They deceived you through all these “diagnoses” and they steal your money, through all the pills which you “need”.
      In short: they poison your mind and your overall health, leaving you with neither one.
      Therapist, Psychologist and Psychiatrist = Field where no human soul, never ever going to fit of being an help, no matter the among of years spend in “medical schools” or the decree gotten from there.
      ALL of us are daily deceived, no matter the walks of life.

    Hi Phil,
    I’m currently pursuing my BA in Psychology. So just to clarify, I can go into an PsyD or PHD program without getting a Master’s Degree? My goal is to become a Psychologist

      Hello! Yes, in the U.S. most schoold do not require the master's degree although it's always good to double check with the requirements for each school. For example, in my program over half the cohort came directly from undergrad.

    What's the difference between psychologist vs psychiatrist in forensic settings? Yes I know psychiatrists are medical doctors and they can prescribe, order medical procedures while psychologists can do psychometric testing, then what else? Are there specific job descriptions that the courts usually assign to each profession?

    • @philsguidetopsyd
      @philsguidetopsyd  2 роки тому

      Hello! Yes, I think it would depend what the courts need specifically on each case. There are things that forensic psychologists know more about when it comes to psychological testing than a psychiatrist, so depending on what court order from the judge or information from lawyers is needed I'm sure they would be referred to specific specialists in the mental health field.

      MD here(not a psychiatrist). Even in forensic settings sometimes it is required for a criminal/patient to be thoroughly evaluated for mental disorders and that includes running screening tests to rule out other diseases (infection, cancer, stroke, metabolic, toxins/medications, hormones, malnutrition, etc) that is the underlying cause of or can manifest as a mental disorder. A psychiatrist receives a more complete education of physiology and pathology and is qualified to rule out non-psychiatric disorders before they can begin treatment of the mental disorder itself.

    I'd love to find a heavily Freudian psychologist to talk me through my nightmare disorder. Hard to find and when I do, they don't take new patients. Poopies.
