To all of you who say Bercow is biased ... he let the Letwin ammendment be voted upon, and lo and behold: there was a majority of the house in favour of it. How is allowing a vote on that ammendment being biased, instead of standing up for the right of the house to have their voice heard? Let us assume he would not have allowed a debate and vote on the Letwin ammendment. He would then have prevented the house from being able to vote and decide on something, for which indeed there was a majority. Using the power of the chair to prevent the majority of the house from being able to make a decision ... now ... that would be unfair, and if motivated by his personal convictions indeed biased. Saying "you asked that same question of the house 48 hours ago and already got an answer" is not being biased, it is being a good facilitator of a debate. If he kept pushing for debates on extensions etc. and then those would be voted down by the house, then he would rightly be characterized as biased. The fact that the house keeps voting in favour of the selected ammendments proves, that the Speaker is not biased, but is performing his role as expected.

To all of you who say Bercow is biased ... he let the Letwin ammendment be voted upon, and lo and behold: there was a majority of the house in favour of it. How is allowing a vote on that ammendment being biased, instead of standing up for the right of the house to have their voice heard?
Let us assume he would not have allowed a debate and vote on the Letwin ammendment. He would then have prevented the house from being able to vote and decide on something, for which indeed there was a majority. Using the power of the chair to prevent the majority of the house from being able to make a decision ... now ... that would be unfair, and if motivated by his personal convictions indeed biased.
Saying "you asked that same question of the house 48 hours ago and already got an answer" is not being biased, it is being a good facilitator of a debate.
If he kept pushing for debates on extensions etc. and then those would be voted down by the house, then he would rightly be characterized as biased. The fact that the house keeps voting in favour of the selected ammendments proves, that the Speaker is not biased, but is performing his role as expected.

It's interesting how everybody moans about Parliament, but actually if you think about it it's just following the country. There was a general split about Brexit when we voted and the same is happening in Parliament. So why should anyone should be miffed or surprised ! As for Bercow, I think he's managing the situation pretty well considering the mess. He hasn't broken the rules, he's followed them to the letter. MPs have hinted he's biased, but nobody has come out and said categorically that he is, because simply, he's just following the rules of Parliament!
I wish these clowns would stop using the words Honorable and right Honorable, There has been nothing right, or Honorable about any of them for years, It has come to the stage where I no longer trust anything any politician says, over the years they have shown they cannot be trusted, They are all shameful, power hungry money grabbers, and have outlived their usefulness, the sooner we find and install a better alternative, the better off we will all be!
