unfortunatley there is still a part of the military that uses the old steel helmet but for most units the M-97 is standard issue
also you were right when you said Yugoslav because officially that was the name of the country through the 90s and early 2000s

A croatian here, never knew about this helmet but the "mile dragic" probaby would have been "mile dragić" as in slavis countries surnames that end in "ić" are often seen and i havent heard one that ends with "ic" and to help a bit with the pronunciation of the letters ć and č its pronounced like you would pronounce ch in the word church, hope that that helps. Ps have you ever planed to make a helmets of the world episode on the m1 helmet, (or have you allready made a vid on it and im blind and didnt see it)

Yep, you're probably right, but figured I'd take a shot at it. It's a nice helmet.

Before M59 helmet was adopted, Yugoslavian People`s Army used a large number of German helmets. They were either captured, or received as war reparations. Some of these helmets were used straight up, but a large number was cut down (making them similar to Fallschirmjäger helmets), to evade any similarity to Wehrmacht. You can see the shortened version on this photograph taken in 1949: www.mod.gov.rs/multimedia/fotogalerija/foto/1949_LBW_20048_02.jpg
