If I’ve learned one thing from watching your videos (especially videos like this one), it’s patience. Life is a resource, let them commit to board, you don’t need to snap off spells just because you have the mana. I’ve won so many games that I would have lost previously by adopting this mindset

First saw you on Rarran's videos and I gotta say that you have me hooked on Magic now. I was always a yugioh player when I was younger, but MTG has actually been a blast to learn so far. Love the vids my man 🙌
As a retired derby photographer of many years and lover of magic, I think it's awesome that you coach derby on top of loving magic as well. Also love an animated coach! And if I was still shooting and getting around like I used to back in the day (and believe me I did...michigan twice for d2 and d1 level playoffs), I'd probably fan out some and of course ask to play some, cuz why not?!? Granted while the photos were being uploaded and all that. Derby events and people want their photos lol.
@@jdgarrison9913 with boseiju gone, they now need to sacrifice a slot for a spell for that… but in Bo1 I’m not sure it’s worth it if you’re playing monogreen. For white, red and Boros it’s probably easier, cause such spells are more versatile and effective.
@KroyX Meh. I've tried running it in a couple decks and it's incredibly underwhelming. I only ever really end up playing it when I have liberally nothing else to play. As ridiculous as it is to say, a 3 mana 4/4 just ain't cutting it lol. On the few occasions you do get to use it against a pesky artifact/enchantment, yeah, it's alright but never feels worth it imo.
@@AzazelReborn81 Recently its seems like artifacts are becoming a closer theme for green. Green is about history, tradition and heritage, artifacts are a physical representation of those that came before tying us to our ancestors. The Cookies deck in standard is a great representation of this. Golgari seems to be more focused on destroying artifacts and profiteering off it destroying your, foes attachment to the past for your traditions to take root in their place, your new growth in their death. Red is also leaning into artifact removal just as regularly, as the colour of emotion it makes sense why artificial constructs oppose reds ideals (out side of Trwinket loving commanders)
That's super cool that you coach roller derby, my friend plays and it seems like a lot of fun. That level of fame, where you're a rock star in a very small crowd but can live totally normally, sounds like the ideal to me! Thanks for the video.
I'm just getting into MTG and your videos are awesome, I'm autistic and pick favorites for everything and go hard in that, Boros, or White Red, has fully grabbed me and made my obsession much easier to grasp, I've been watching all your Boros videos and learning a lot! You're my favourite MTG youtuber, but I drift in and out of MTG, so right now I have no clue what a lot of cards do. An example where you could help out; at 9:40, you hover over the opponents card for less than half a second, if you would linger for just one or two seconds instead, it would allow me to pause the video and read what the card does, making it much easier to follow what's going. Just a thought.

I think the internet fame concept is so interesting after hearing and seeing how fame gets to superstar status individuals. That bounce deck was hilarious, I loved it. One of those games where you lose (or come close) but have to wonder: "What did you build this for!? How do you win games against anyone other than me, specifically!?"
My guess would be that the bounce deck didn't really draw that well either, honestly. It could also just be a jank deck going through testing. I know I used to build a lot of jank decks that may or may not perform well back when I was actively playing on MTGA.
@@JushakF I would agree in it being an awkward draw, but that had SO much single target bounce in a meta with an awful lot of 1-for-2 creature cards. Maybe there was something else it wanted to recur with the sagas though

I've found huge success with this deck running 4 Brotherhood's End instead of Lockdown. It eats rival Forges, shuts down UW Synthesizer artifacts and curb stomps rabbits, mice and lizards.
As a sound professional there was one time I managed to record a DVD commentary track (remember those?) with the mic backwards. It was a very humbling experience. And I learned to always check mic placement.
I'm rewatching the TV show psych and just finished the "Talk Derby To Me" episode that is about Roller Derby then I opened UA-cam and this was suggested.
As this is my favorite deck, I've been trying a lot of variations. Archangel Elspeth is just better than Beza 95% of the time. Also, you don't want more than 5 Fountains + Mirrex, and Fountain has FAR more utility (including the main one, 2 mana draw from forge token after combat).
That matchup against the Blue unauthorized exit deck felt like an unranked matchup where Arena rigs every aspect. The constant lack of lands forcing discards, that the main weakness of Urabrask Forge is being bounced back to hand so it never gets counters (you will probably never see that deck otherwise), that you kept getting nothing but removal when there is nothing to remove etc. The only part that didn’t feel like a rigged Unranked match was that you got to play first.
There are games I just concede because it's so obvious the game is trying hard to make me lose that it's better to save some time and give up right away.
A few builders talents work pretty well in the build a good early blocker and pumps your squad and the level 3 is nice being able to put a forge or elspeth back on the battlefield
In the artifact game, CGB killing fabrication foundry instead of waiting to hit a synthesizer, and valuing his opponent's creature land over protecting his own fountain port were both big mistakes when piloting the tokens deck. Likely still wouldn't have won that game if he played correctly given that they had counterspells, but he was hardly "unlucky" after drawing 1 of 2 artifact removal and multiple sweepers against the artifacts deck, and he deserved that loss.
Im running something similar to this, but im actually really digging a full control boros using this setup with less sunfall, and some monastery monks and elspeth. it reduces my reliance on forge.
7:27 why wouldn't you want "too many"? The scry is useful to find your lands, it's a mean to gain some life and create some creatures that stay on the board, which is quite important against the most agressive decks I think. Also it allows you to draw your cards on your turn as well on the opponent's turn!
i like the long intro. i had no idea what your hobbies were outside of magic. and if i ever dont wanna watch i can skip. better to have it and skip than not have it at all imo.

5:15 this deck loves aggro so much… that if you try it for a day or more, you only get mirror matches or azorius control opponents like all the fricking time. And don’t worry… their luck will be a lot better than yours. 😅
So true. And it's obvious that you are supposed to lose a match and the end game BS to make you lose. I had a mono blue opponent on the ropes with no cards in his hand and me with 4 creaures one a phyrexian obliterator and wouldn't you know I draw 2 lands and he draws the absolute bombs and wins

Land flooding multiple times… only saw talent a couple of times and only as a top deck with nothing in the board… when I’m not land-flooding I’m land-screwed… I went back to jund-lands so I couldn’t complain about drawing lands 😂
I've been forcing myself to put Pick your Poison into just about everything I can in BO1 at this point just to cope with decks like this. Sooo many enchantments. I thought the nightmare had ended was supposed to end when Kamigawa rotated.

ayup! I pilot electrobalance in Modern, an all-in combo deck, and navigating tight lines is where I see the good mtg players from the chaff o7

Urabrask's Forge is my favorite card. Been playing Boro with it before the rotation. You don't fear anything once it gets going.
As a long time monoblack player forge and synthesizer are the two cards I despise the most.

I personally run 4x Carrot Cake in this deck, and I have no complaints. I think CGB is underestimating how good it is in this deck.
i run a build like this with 2-3 Mondrak and Warleaders Call. slaps, even Monastery Mentor aint bad.
