Jesus fucking Christ, this sounds so fresh even by today's standards. It's such a shame these aren't real artists. The Benzoate track is literally the reason I got into electronic music back when I was younger and first played GTA on my PS1.
Why isn't this still a thing... most old PC games used to do this! why not now with console games?! (i would say PC disc's to do so, but nobody uses disc's nowadays...)
Known as "Darkside", "Jungle Techno", or "4-Beat" from around '93-'95. There was actually a pretty good scene going around this style of music, from the likes of Formation Records, Homegrown Records, Basement Records, Impact Records etc, and on the more harder side stuff on Force Inc. records. Unfortunately when the scene finally split into happy hardcore and dnb this crossover stuff died out and only recently came back as part of the wider Breakcore genre. Anyway, there's your history lesson!
I had Sony Acid Pro back when I was in college and found all the effects and music clips that the composer for Trancefer used. I recreated the song and found it was very easy to put together.
Years ago I ran over Hare Krishna's in GTA not knowing who they are..Now I eat at a Hare Krishna cafe everyday and can totally relate to the sentiment shared by the developers lol
I used to play this game as a kid. I owned a 90s Cadillac and made a mixtape with these tracks. I used to blast around town and pump this shit nice and loud! Lots of great memories! Thanks for uploading this kind of stuff! You rock!
2:50 holy shit the drop is awesome I never heard these soundtracks before , but i gotta say , they are better that the ones from gta 5 ! It's not an exaggeration, the first chapters had grat music , then they started to get shittier as the game developed its physics and its graphics ... Man you can feel the late 90's early 2000's vibes with these techno , trance , drum & bass and rave music ...
still the best game I've ever played. The most original and funfilled game EVER. Ace memories. The trancefer song 'figiwhiz' is probably the reason I'm a DJ now..
What the hell? I was really young when I used to play this game so I didn't appreciate the soundtrack. But this is amazing, all the songs of every genre are excellent!
The first track may as well have come from Music For The Jilted Generation! The similarities in sound, beats and samples are uncanny. I'm obviously not saying that's a bad thing!!
omg, i remeber doing lots of "ilegal stuff", while playing this game...pretty funny moments i was such a noob player at the time, i only liked to drive at high speed, and run away from the cops... and always listening to this =) thanks for posting this
thanks so much for putting all the tracks on i've been playing the pc disc game through my sound system that many times it doesnt work anymore nice1 m8
Co-incidentally just noticed this while listening to the GTA soundtrack elsewhere and surprised hardly anyone else has mentioned this online! Quake 2 was released about 2 months after the original Grand Theft Auto, so it seems likely it inspired Sonic Mayhem to make the amazing 'Descent Into Cerberon' track.
SPYDOR I'd guess it was more of an coincidense. During late 90's sample cd's were very commonly used by people who made electronic music with mainly samplers. So they were probably unknowingly using the same synth line from an royalty free sample cd.
I actually think both may just use a royalty free synth loop. A lot of the GTA 1 soundtrack is based on royalty free music which they've remixed and written lyrics for. I don't think Sascha Dikiciyan (Sonic Mayhem) has said anything like that about the Q2 soundtrack, but I know for certain that his Noize demo disc released around the time of his Q3A soundtrack had multiple royalty free loops in it (including one that was also used in the Chrono Cross soundtrack).
@purleypk yep hopping in the Beast that appears straight away in liberty city, taking the short drive down to the freeway, before absolutely NAILING it across town, this tune on in the background!
@Viedenuit it's not some french emo song contest, this music suppose to remind us about cool game wich GTA was for sure. who care's is it real techno or something else? it's about memories.
@hubelt I have to admit that I played it without missions many times too but once you start playing the missions you'll like it even more. They have some of the best stories and missions out there.Like the one with the corrupt police chief or the one where you have to drive the boss' girlfriend to a hotel(and you realize what kind of a slut she is :P)or the "Speed" one with the bus etc.

Thanks.
This means that I won't find similar melodies. These tracks are super.

Drum and bass!
+EvilTim1911 Craig Conner, Colin Anderson and Grant Middleton composed this soundtrack.
But I do believe these were real artists in the early 90s. It has a early 90s sound. I am sure this wasnt straight from the late 90s.
EVEN TODAY!!!
@@rafaelrudi6581 Yes! It's been almost a decade since I made that comment and I still regularly come here
The Beast GTS.
Later down the road, soon to be known as the Banshee.
Oh wow I never noticed how similar they look
I had to jump the bridge everytime when this started playing xD
The beauty of this game was you could put the game CD (PC) into a CD player and play the music.
I just figured that out with my cd walkman
That also happened with the Quake2 cd and that was quite a good soundtrack, a lot of hardcore metal
Why isn't this still a thing...
most old PC games used to do this!
why not now with console games?! (i would say PC disc's to do so, but nobody uses disc's nowadays...)
Forgot about the ability to do that completely, it was so cool.
@@michealp1765 I'm a zoomer and even I know that it's called a discman

Mr. Carnivoire Ok but who are they in real life and why are they annoying?
@@djmay1231 this. I'm very confused
It would be cool if this music was used for street racing in GTA 6
Nice tracks! I remember stealing Vipers just to listen to this track! Good memories! It's been so long..
Are we really that old now??
What vipers do you mean?
+Nico Verbeek i don't remember the ingame name of the car but it was modeled after the Dodge Viper

Hello and welcome and welcome to the UNDERGROUND
Best drum & bass i have heard in years.
What the hell? I was really young when I used to play this game so I didn't appreciate the soundtrack. But this is amazing, all the songs of every genre are excellent!
I'd just got into hardcore at the time this game came out, so naturally this was always my station of choice! Still love it now
it's not bad but it's too techno I prefer the DNB so MSX FM and MSX 98 are my favorite radio stations
Get your ass to the pay phones!
One-Winged Moogle be funny if LJT Came up on the pagers in GTA 1 Lol
old school gta....

sgterikericson the old prodigy were excellent much better than the newer stuff after 2000
This is so aggressive!
7:18 is my favourite part of the last song
This came out in 1997 :) Back then, all songs like this were considered as techno, only bit later they were started to call by different subgenres.
No they weren't...
At the 5:10 mark all i can hear is "Prestige World Wide, Wide, Wide"
Boats and hoes! :D
7:05 sampled "This is Acid" which was later used in GTA San Andreas.
first track is fucking hardcore
Pfffffft wow. I thought that sound was the car breaking
Haha funny seeing you here, legit just browsing the comments of these older soundtrack uploads.
Dead serious. I thought those sound effects at the beginning were the car breaking
Yea thats fair, they do sound similar to car breaking.
I made a mix tape of this back in '99. Ah the memories.
When I played this game years ago as a kid I didn't appreciate the soundtrack enough. It really rocks.
Too bad these were made for the game itself. I would like to hear more from these fictional artists.
The track from 5:10 on, is so clean!
.......and unity
2017 what happened to music man???????????????????????
playing GTA V while listening to this.... BEST
THING
EVA
Rumour has it that the first track and the second track were originally meant to be one in the same.
I bought this game for the Playstation yesterday. What a classic purchase!

Always brings me back to the day when I borrowed this from my friend.
Did no missions at all lol just drove around in a Penetrator
The best part is the deep tune starting from 5:36 on
The sound track of my childhood.
Play this when you take your Super cars for a spin in GTA V.
@Adam Demeter the OG from GTA III
@Adam Demeter yep, they're beautiful. The one in GTA III was pretty awkward looking, but it was lightning fast.

I love playing this at 6:27 while going 90 mph up I-95🤩😛
This was a banger in 97' this is a banger in 2024
Now just go for it!
This is more of a Breakbeat combined with speedy techno. I fucking love it
always thought the guy in the first song kept saying "a lunatic"
This is my running soundtrack 🏃♂️
Reminds of the music from that ps1 hotwheels game where the car turns into a boat and airship, nice
Running in the 90s would fit perfectly in this game.
Techno, Jungle, House, and DnB, plus Rave.
Oh, this brings back such memories! I know it's just nostalgia, but I always say: they'll never make video games like these any more!
Nope but GTA 1 and 2 ain’t shit compared to GTA 3 and beyond.
ahhh this shit is great, love just driving as fast as possible to this station
7:30 + best part ever!!!!!!!
