21 October 1997 Grand Theft Auto was born. On 21 October 2022 it will officially become the 25th Aniversary of the first game and the 20th Aniversary of GTA VIce City. This radio station should be played in peoples homes full blast on 21 October 2022 to celebrate 25 years of this masterpiece of a series. Let the new generation see exactly what they all missed
This was my first game. A year or so before san andreas was released. I havent heard these since i last played it. But i remember it like the day i stopped. About 20 years ago.
I believe GTA three had that as an Easter egg preluding to the original gta I will have to look it up again but I’m pretty sure that’s actual police recording taken from a police CB station
This has remained my favorite version of Head Radio (WHED 89 FM) since I first hear it playing GTA 1 back in the 90’s. I love coming back to listen to it from time to time!
IMO these radio stations are way better than any of the licensed music Rockstar used in later games. So much more character. That electro track at 2:50 is fucking ace!
6:25 that is the captured flag theme from Team Fortress Classic. D- Oh right... while writing this I just remembered this game came out 2 years before that game
You can hear the news at the beggining of the first song: a 49 year old man goes berserk last night opening fire with a 12 gauge shotgun opening fire at a crowded restaurant
6:01 I only noticed this as I'm writing this comment, but this version of Lagerstar from The Fix FM doesn't have the echoing vocals, probably an early version that DMA forgot to replace.
It's not, it's from the Tyne Tees Television ident here in the UK in the '90s. It's indelibly burned into my brain because it preceded my Airwolf viewing every week :)
I still sometimes just sing the little "FM, Stereo" bit from this 🤣 dunno why that stuck with me for 25 years
Lol same here it's great
yup, same here
Same with me

They didn't miss anything. These games are still accessible and people do play them.

HOLY CRAP THAT POLICE CHATTER IN THE BEGINNING CAN BE HEARD IN COP CARS IN GTA3

@@jimhowe2624 U can hear that sometimes in Hawaii 5-0, Criminal Minds, C.S.I Miami and more.. its a classic.

This just sounds like a really long news broadcast with music and noises thrown in. lol....kind of like real radio.
The joy I had putting the PS1 game in my CD player and hearing this for the first time may never be matched.
He's a champ!
Listening to this driving a tank absolutely obliterating anything in front of me, good times.

And in the game

68 to a dead fly 89 FM, head radio.
I still have no idea what this means, 26 years later 😆
@@Me-zo8yc a dead fly lies upside down hence the 68 turning into a 89
@@Rob02150 @terbentur2943 no way, that actually makes sense 😆

October 2020 and still loving this

yea, when that track came on cruising around, nothing in 90s gaming could touch it
I like vladivostok tho
You're not alone. In fact, I think anyone who thinks otherwise is a little strange...
Hell nah, random short ass sound effects and goofy music mashed and switched every 20 seconds Max.

You're right :o
it's a royalty free sample from the 90s, so you'll see it pop up in plenty of places around that time

it sounds like the Tyne Tees Channel 3 ident

So that's what he says! I have been wondering for ages what the line was. Thanks!
I always remember these radio stations being an incoherent mess.
If you mean that in a charming way, yes, in a general sense, they're perfect.
@C the music randomly switches to something else out of nowhere
