My uncle had a large cyst on his neck and when we popped it my father pulled out a length of hair that measured 17 inches the wildest thing I've ever seen!!!!

I hate how these end so pre maturely. I neeeeeed to seeeeee it all the way through!
I had that happen once and it blew my mind. Of course it was in a private area. I thought I had a pimple and it just wouldn’t go away. Then one day I noticed that I saw a little hair so I grabbed a pair of tweezers. Oh my God, it wasn’t as big as this guys but it was curled around and around at least five or six times. No wonder it kept coming back. Finally when I removed it went away for good.

I love the mass of coiled hair that came out of that. I was disappointed that she didn't squeeze it afterwards, because I am pretty sure that there is a blackhead in there too!!

I had a cyst under my chin for about 6 years then suddenly it popped & all the dead skin cells & juices came out which included a single black hair which was 5 feet long when we finally got it unwound we couldn’t unwind it all
FIVE FEET??!! That's fantastic!! I had a small bump on my chin and thought it was a pimple, but after about 6 weeks, it finally opened when I worked on it, but sadly the single hair was only a couple of inches. You definitely win!!

For all you first timers loving the ingrown hair pulls search for spas that specialize in bikini/Brazilian wax. You will find plenty that started their own channels plucking out ingrown hairs left after the wax. (Most look like this)
As a nurse you wouldn't believe the weird stuff we find on patients, blackheads, hair, you name it. Why they don't take care of these things when they are small is beyond my imagination. My finger nails would be digging this out in my sleep, while it was still small.
If I had a job where all I did all day was pull out ingrown hair's like this wig, my life would be absolutely complete.

yeah, and having willing patients- the dream! My dad gets these big puss-filled things on his back and I sooooooo want to pop them but no, he's too scared to get them popped, instead waiting until they pop on their own months later. He barely let mom pop one and only because it was hurting when he sat down or laid on his back. For obvious reasons, I didn't watch. He won't even go to the doctor to see the growth on his leg and I am furious!

Ingrown hairs like these are pretty deceptive to untrained eyes. Might've tried to squeeze it like a blackhead with nothing happening (looks a little scarred so probably not filling for the first time). Actually sticking tweezers in and grabbing stuff can be intimidating if you don't know what to expect
They can be stubborn. I remember my dad-who had terrible acne-had a zit that would not go away. One day, he noticed a little hair poking out of it, so he grabbed it and started pulling… we heard him yelp from the bathroom (my brother and I were like 5 and 8 at the time) and we watched him slooooowly pull this long, black hair put of his cheek. IT SQUEAKED. It had to have been three feet long.
Never ever have I been so glad to have straight hair in my life

It is just one hair but coils under the flat follicle or clogged pore and wraps around
Once it reaches oxygen it will harden and appear like a large blackhead from the sebum

true story: many years ago I visited a friend in Park Slope, NYC, and at the local bodega I encountered an entire section devoted to "razor bumps." I'd never heard the term, but a whole aisle was dedicated to them!. But then I got one. My only one ever. on that trip. Can you get an ingrown hair by suggestion?

Funny story: I got top surgery (full double mastectomy w/ nipple grafts) back in 2020. A couple weeks ago, I pulled a clump of ingrown hairs out of the _middle of my nipple._ (No pain; the grafts don’t have nerve endings)
My friend cursed me with the theory that there’s probably a couple active follicles under the grafts - so I probably have clumps of hair just camping out underneath my nipples. On the bright side, maybe it’ll help me stay warm this winter and the cold won’t be so……… _nippy._
I always want to know how many inches (or feet in this case) they are if you straighten them out! Crazy how many years that was probably growing 😮

I've had a blackhead that swelled up just enough (field shaving by touch with an electric razor, no mirror due to me being in a hurry to get to work) that it also cause a big zit. Which actually turned out to be about 90% an ingrown hair....
