I have one wheelset w the previous gen 350 SP hubs (boost) and one wheelset with these new 350 SP hubs. I change wheels between my trail and enduro bikes. What sucks is that the new front hub (both 6 bolt w identical discs) is different width in terms of disc placement. I.e. I have to adjust front brake caliper every time I change wheels. The rear hubs don’t differ in this sense, so no need to adjust there. If I had known this, I’d prob gone for the old version also on the newer wheelset, as the SP versions were quite light already previously. DT 350 is not cheap, years ago I had wheels built with 350 hubs, it came with the 18t ratchet, the engagement was abysmal. I had to pay another 100 dollars for the 54t ratchet, if you don't like the 36t ratchet on the new 350, add another 100 dollars for the upgrade to 54t. If you are going to pay the extra 100 for the 54t ratchet, you should probably look for a different high engagement hub since the 350 will not be economical with the extra cost.

Something to note - the new endcap shape for the front hub is not compatible with centerlock adapters that tighten from the inner part of the lockring - those that tighten with a cassette tool.
@@LoveMTB Same hub sizing, yes. Front hub is a 240EXP, j-bend 15x110 thru axle centerlock. Tried a centerlock to 6 bolt adapter I have used before but the cassette tool will not fit. Adapter itself does fit on the hub. However, the increasing (swelling) shape of the endcap prevents the cassette tool from getting near the engagement notches on the inner part of the adapter ring. Adapter works (and cassette tool does fit) on the rear hub (240EXP, 12x148 j-bend centerlock). Am now buying a DT centerlock adapter for the front hub as those tighten from the outside of the adapter lockring. Great video - thanks for the content!
Oh this is interesting 👌
Is it worth buying a 370 hub with ratchet LN 18 system and switch the ratchet to 36t? Thank you for making videos about dt swiss hubs.
@@LoveMTB If I know how to build wheels, I would go for 350 hubs. Now my only option is to buy wheels from Dt Swiss like x 1900 or xr 1700. Here in Germany I still haven't find a dealer who offers to build wheels with resonable price.
Great video! Am currently building a dt swiss wheelset... Got everything except the rear 350 hub... Been waiting since November 2021 to get hands on one... Absolutely insane to get one in stock wherever I look... Any ideas where to get one? Would be really helpful 🙂
LoveMTB, actually I've managed to get the front one without any problems, the rear is expected to get în stock not earlier than June (german sites)... I am from Europe, and got all the stuff from german sites, but now I am looking everywhere for a rear one... And ebay is basically double priced :/
Thanks for the response! Cheers
Man, where did you buy that front hub?
I have been waiting since October for them to become available for purchase.
@@LoveMTB I was able to snatch rear hub with microspline, but latest info for front one, (at least my desired model - boost, 6 bolt, 32h) is they will be available in september :(
So rachet EXP wasn’t a big hit? The 240s came in a limited edition oil slick didn’t it? How do DT Swiss hubs compare to Industry 9’s?
The older star ratchet was basically perfect from an engineering pov, but the patents expired, so DT created EXP which makes things worse in many ways... I think their market share will drop since other star ratchet hubs are now on the market for less money.. DT are expanding beyond hubs, e.g forks
Aren't CL discs heavier than 6 bolt though? Negating the difference.
It also depends on discs group i believe, lock ring can be steel or alu right?
When it comes to great deal- arent bontrager comp 30 wheels much cheaper and equally reliable?
Great video!
@@LoveMTB did you considered the weight of that large cassette locking steel wrench for CL lock ring in your calculations though?
I mean you've got to have it on you out on the trails at all times, as bending that CL rotor means carrying bike home :-D
Where did we end up? Every IS standard beats any other post-IS hands down. Same with post mount- broken frame/fork with stripped caliper threads vs broken caliper adapter for $10
Like HOW mtb media did not trash those new standards, and embrace them instead. Bloody sellouts!
@@LoveMTB nooo i mean when you bend 6 bolt, you can take it off and limp-ride home. When you bend CL rotor, you limp home, cause your knees will be killing you after all that bike carrying LOL
New internals , and old school j bend look. Great for a classic look.
I prefer the modern str8 pull performance. And look much better.
@@LoveMTB always have to true my hook spoked wheels..straight pull , never needed but couple years ,maybe . But unless you test both you won't notice..no biggie , straightening is fun for some..I just like to grab my bike n shred .
bought new hubs dt 350 sp is boost. weight r 237/ f 144g.
classic ratchet good, new exp didn't want, problems with them.
Hope pro 2 evo affordable too and quite loud
I see you use Schwalbe rim tape. How has it performed for you? For me it was a disaster. Adhesive failed to keep tape secure, tape, Tore in small pieces, removing it was unpleasant. I have a vid showing that and a written review. Awful experience. Several rolls had dry adhesive at the start, but rest did not do so well. The tape folded easily it was usless for me. I use Gorilla Tape now. I don't lose all air in a tyre, like I did on Schealbe.
I have the same hubs with ex471 on my yeti sb6 and them are 🔥 just buy 50T 🤷🏻♂️
Novatec all the way. They are 2-3x cheaper works well and sounds too.
Używam starszych Dt Swiss 350 są niezawodne
I have one wheelset w the previous gen 350 SP hubs (boost) and one wheelset with these new 350 SP hubs. I change wheels between my trail and enduro bikes. What sucks is that the new front hub (both 6 bolt w identical discs) is different width in terms of disc placement. I.e. I have to adjust front brake caliper every time I change wheels. The rear hubs don’t differ in this sense, so no need to adjust there. If I had known this, I’d prob gone for the old version also on the newer wheelset, as the SP versions were quite light already previously. But great hubs and very few people would see this as an issue!
Hey @LoveMTB, can you confirm that problem? I have a Set of 240 exp and the old 350. These are perfect interchangeable without rubbing. I now have to decide wether i go new 350 or 240 exp again. Thanks!
@@LoveMTB Ok, i tought so. Thanks! 👍
Can you sponsor me one Hub 😊
To bad that it doesn't exist 20x110mm Center-Lock Front Hub
I'm really VERY upset
My fork Suntour SR DUROLUX RC DS 20QLC2 27.5" on my Merida One Sixty 600 model 2018 have 20 x 110 mm axle, and a hub with IS 6 bolts
I don't like the 6 bolts model hubs :( :|
rather have the old ratchet system as well, exp makes them worse to service for little benefit
I did this, but got them secondhand,in a wheelset.
Affordable? Come on man!
It's amazing how Hope can offer a better hub, more colour options, better engagement and made in UK for the same price as these cheap looking Taiwan hubs.
DT look to be going downhill, especially with the exp flop.
hello can I use shimano freehub grease on the ratchet ring? cheers
I would not recommend it’s not the same.
@@LoveMTB DT SWISS SPECIAL GREASE (MOLYKOTE TP-42) is it good?, its the only thing available here, or any brand you might suggest. thanks again..
