Wow..the process of changing the thread was highly useful. I did my 1st pair of earrings and got a knot in my thread when I was 1/2 done and it took me 40 minutes to get it out.

This is such a fantastic video and has helped elevate the quality of my beading projects. Do you use any of the bead project apps to create your patterns? If so, do have some that you prefer over others? I bought beading graph paper and would love the flexibility of modifying a pattern without having to color an entire new piece of graph paper. I echo what many have said and think that this video is one of the best in quality and content I have ever seen and you are a great instructor. Thank you so much for the lesson and inspiration.
Thank you so much for the compliments! So I don't actually use any bead project apps, I haven't really liked any that I found so far. I actually started making my own patterns digitally using the free program GIMP, it's like Photoshop so it's not really meant for beading but I figured out a way that I like. I've been considering sharing a video about it, so maybe I'll do that soon!
I’m dumb I got a bunch of seed beads for Christmas I am Métis and wanted to reconnect with my culture and learn to bead well I had the same size beads as you and I thought your video was extremely well put together and easy to follow so I have it a shot I didn’t realize even though they are the same size different brands have different size holes so I was struggling to get my needle through and once I got to the fifth fringe it just wasn’t going through the beads and I busted my needle so I looked it up and realized they are different sized holes ugh LOL well it’s a learning opportunity and I now know not all beads and brands are the same I am going to try again with different beads when I get some Thank you for this tutorial I appreciate it even if I failed the first time
Sounds like experiences I've had before for sure!! I always want to use gifts of craft supplies I get as well, but it's tough to match supplies to the right projects if you didn't buy it yourself. If you still want to make use of your gift seed beads with uneven holes, they can still be used in projects that don't require tight weaving and many passes of thread. Maybe you could string them all onto one thread like for a necklace or bracelet project, maybe a long necklace that loops around several times. I also think that bead embroidery could work, where you sew rows of seed beads onto a piece of felt to make an image. Hope that helps!

Hello, do you have other patterns? I tried making these, my 1 st time, and I actually succeeded. I do, though, need to purchase delicas or hex beads. My pair of earrings are big and I made them with sead beads that are hard to set in place.
Hi yes I think size B would work just fine! It's a bit thinner than size D, so it's a bit less strong. If you have trouble with the thread breaking, then I'd switch to D, but if it works for you then go for it!
I have a hard time finding the balance between keeping the fringes tight enough to the triangle/top that there is no gap between the top and fringe but not so tight that the fringes don't hang well. I seem to end up with gaps or kinked and not dangly fringes. I have tried both NymoD and TOHO One G threads. Any suggestions or words of wisdom??
It’s tough! I usually pull it tight until it’s too stiff, then hold the bottom bead of the fringe (where the thread turns around) and pull it a little looser again while still holding the thread somewhat tight at the top, sort of wiggle back and forth until I like the tightness. When I move to the next fringe, I sort of pull at the previous fringe in case it gets tightened when I pull the next fringe tight. I just continue adjusting as I go, and sometimes I’m not happy with it either. I’ve found that sometimes the kinked fringe is also the fault of uneven beads instead of tightness, but it depends. I feel your pain!
Good question, it depends on the pattern and which parts of it you want shorter, but in general just remove the same number of beads from each fringe. So for this pattern, if you want it 6 beads shorter, maybe remove the 6 from the purple section. So instead of 30 purple for the first fringe, do 24 purple, and do the same for the rest of the fringes. For the white piece in the middle, I would remove that number from the white section. Hope that helps!
I think I've definitely taken 3 hours on a pair before, especially if it's a bigger pair. Sometimes I sabotage myself too and try to undo stuff I don't like, so it takes even longer! I can often do a pair in 1.5 hours though. It changes a lot for me.
Hi!! How do you start the fringe without breaking beads? I got the brickstick down- which is great but i cant get the fringe started 😭 i have to use pliers to pull the needle thru the beads, and cant get them started at all on the begining 4 beads that we doubled up. My max is 3 passes thru a bead and then they either snap or i get the needle stuck.. help! ....im using czech beads, 11, wildfire line, big eye needles. I want to use lighter weight thread for the fringe but cant get it started.... I do want to add to everyone's comments about how great this tutorial is!! I nearly gave up on beading until i found this video!! Thank you!
Oh no that's no fun! I've definitely dealt with this before too. I think wildfire can get to be very bulky after several passes. Fireline thread can be better sometimes, especially if you use a lower weight like the 4-lb test, it's pretty thin. Alternately, I sometimes tie off my brick stitch thread and change to a totally different thread just for the fringe, like Nymo thread for a soft flowy fringe, which is also pretty thin thread. I think Nymo thread also works better with classic beading needles instead of big-eye, because it's nylon it gets a bit shredded on the foldy-big-eye part. So yeah, I would say either switch to Fireline 4-lb for the whole thing, or tie off your Wildfire after brick stitch is done and switch to a new classic needle and nylon thread for the fringe only. Hope that helps!!!!

I like to pull out just a comfortable amount of thread to work with: for me, i stretch my arms all the way apart to measure the thread as the length of my wingspan, so between 5 feet and 6 feet. This may not finish the whole earring though, I prefer to switch in new thread when I run out. If I try to work with thread that is too long, I get it all tangled up!

I only buy Toho beads I've never had a problem with them. Silver lined are the ones I use. The color of the beads come out.
