I went to Iwate a week ago and there's so much to explore, I really need to go back. I spent a week in Aomori, down to Sendai and made a side trip to Iwate. My main goal was to visit Rikuzentakata and see the 3.11 Iwate Tsunami Memorial Museum which I did and spent half a day there. I am always in awe of the determination and resilience of the people from these places, as well as those in Sendai, Fukushima, Ibaraki, Chiba, and Aomori. I admire their love and dedication in bringing back life to their home. This passion is infectious and I plan to stay there and maybe volunteer. I am just not sure how to do it with my current work situation. But I fell in love with Iwate, and Sendai and Aomori, and I sincerely admire the people that I have met there.
Hi Raina, I saw your video and I am going to travel to Japan, I love the yellow bag, can you tell me where did you buy it and how many litres has it? Is it comfortable? And is it waterproof? I think it is the best size for me to travel to Japan, thks in advance
I was born and raised in Iwate and now live in Tokyo, but your video reminded me of some of the places I didn't know about and how wonderful the area was. I decided to go back home for a week or so as soon as possible. Thanks for the great video.
We visited Iwate for the first time in December 2022. We enjoyed a few days in Hanamaki Onsen area and Hiraizumi as well as an afternoon in Morioka. We were very impressed and plan to go back, ideally in spring or autumn to do some hiking. Seafood was some of the best we have had in Japan. Highly recommended.
I have a friend here in the states whose family lives in iwate and the photos looked so lovely I've decided to do a side trip here when I go back to japan next spring!
Thanks for visiting my home county. I was born in Morioka and raised, educated there till age of 18, but never tried wanko-soba. There are much more to explore, like mountains with alpine flora, dense forests, festivals with folk performances, museums and art museums of notable Iwaters.
@@japanguide From October 11 through 26. I’ll go from Tokyo to Iwaki/Fukushima-Koriyama-Kitakata, then revisit Kyoto, Hiroshima and Fukuoka, and then go back to Tokyo 🙂
I went to Karumai, Iwate last February because I want to see the places featured in the anime Haikyuu!! it was peaceful and I had a great time. This is beautiful and will surely add some of the places when I go back to Iwate.
I've been in Hiraizumi in 2016 and it was great...also...Ohtani Shohei the big superstar of baseball was born there...and played High School baseball in Hanamaki (Iwate). I recommend Motsuji temple and its garden and also a tour to the Geibikei Gorge...
Amazing quality video guys. Well done! Wondering if you can do similar video for around Yamagata City as we're planning to go there but hard to find a guide on what to do 🥲🥲 Thanks heaps and keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for the nice comment! We'll definitely try and cover Yamagata in the future, but if this can help you for your future trip, we have a dedicated page on what to do in Yamagata: www.japan-guide.com/list/e1205.html Have a nice trip!
@@あいうえお-o6s1f We just left Yamagata. End up not doing Yamadera, but rent a car and drove around the area (down to Aizu-Wakamatsu & Ouchi-juku and up to Ginzan Onsen). Driving is a lot easier there because the city is not as busy as Tokyo/Osaka.
pls do cover more on Tohuku region, Akita, Aomori, Miyagi, and Yamagata. I would love to do a vacay in Tohoku region. it is the least visited in Japan by tourist but I'm sure this videos will help to discover the hidden gems of the places.
Good to see your new one🥳! I was wondering why no video recently on this channel though I expected much more coming after Covid died down. And certainly very nice to see Reina doing well! Hope you guys do more video on Shikoku and Kyushu where You had no covered much even before Covid.
Thank you for your nice comment! We've recently updated our filming gear and are really excited to create new content now that the covid situation has died down. We'll definitely try and cover Shikoku and Kyushu. We did a Kyushu video in the past, in case you missed it: ua-cam.com/video/3N3XzdpLdmA/v-deo.html
Iwate is such a hidden gem! Its really worth a visit for sure, happy to watch this amazing documentary. Thank you for sharing this beautiful part of Japan! :)
I been to Iwate twice. First was volunteer rescue team for 2011 Tohoku earthquake, station at Kesennuma city. 2nd time was 8 years later. Rikuzentakata city still remain rebuild process. Great Coastline train - Sanriku Railway From Kuji Station > Miyako Station (Overnight) > Sakari Station. From Sakari Station taking Ofunato BRT Bus to Kesennuma Station. Visiting Tsunami museum at Rikuzentakata city.
Hi Raina. Always enjoyed watching your videos. Could I know - with all the cycling, is it easy to park the bicycle at the tourist spots? I am new to cycling for my tour. Am inclined to try it out this coming trip during the autumn.
Hi! Thank you for your question. There are bicycle parking spots found around the attractions in Hiraizumi (for parts covered in this itinerary). Hope that answers your question //Thomas

Hi Raina and Good Evening from Brazil! I just subscribed and I'm having a nice night here in my room watching these videos. I love Japan and I have a lot of reasons but I won't talk about that now. My favorite video of the channel it's the Cycling video, of course, because I'm a Cyclist here and I love to explore places by Bicycle. I also trying the basics of the Japanese. Maybe even learn Japanese someday. My English is not fluent yet but I'm not using the Google Translate. This is my actual writing and I want to learn Japanese from the English, you know? Make my English fluent and then learn Japanese. I can understand you perfectly and I can read books in English and all this kind of stuff. I have some difficult sometimes but I will get there. I want to be there in Japan someday and I want to thank you for such an amazing content. I will definitely follow this channel from now on and I wish for all of you there in Japan a wonderful weekend and all the best, always. Thank you very much.
Hello! Can you tell me when this was filmed? I’m planning to go to Tohoku/Iwate next October and I wonderwhat type of weather I’m possibly going to have. For instance all looks so green whenever this was filmed, but in October will I find myself in a see of red and yellow leaves with a more chilly temperature? Thank you
Thanks! I've acquired pieces from Oigen, Oitomi, and Morihisa Suzuki but one of the trivets in your video caught my eye! I'd really like to visit them in person. Thanks.@@japanguide
