Fantastic video just done this on my t4 last night only had it a couple of month but feel i have the t4 bug cant stop watching vids about them really enjiy your videos.
AWESOME buddy... Ive been wanting to do this for awhile but reading about it made it sound so complicated... the fact you filmed it and explained has helped tremendously.... Thanks for posting buddy. 👍👍👍
Wow first thank you mate 🤙 That the reason I made this channel and theres loads I wanted to do to my van and was struggling to find the correct info, when I did find the info it was like reading print. Confusing and made to sound really hard. It's not well some things are easier then others. But I'm glad I have helped and you have found how easy it is 🤙
@@PranceProject You're right buddy, reading it and trying to visualize it (even when your under the van and not knowing what part they're talking about ) is a nightmare for me.... You even explaining and more importantly 'showing' the right place on where to drill the yolk??? Was a great help. Keep it up buddy and keep us all posted on your jobs. Enjoy the T4 mate. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I done it how I would have liked to have watched it. It's much better seeing what's what and where it is rather that words saying its here next to other stuff. I'm pleased its helped you, I will continue to film and share. Thank you for your comments mate 🤙
Great video and How To mate ; ) A highly recommended mod, makes a world of a difference. I did mine years ago, a 2003 2.5 TDi .................... kind of gives the shifter a sporty feel to it, and you happen to mention in your vid, it doesn't feel as though you're driving a truck anymore! I also got rid of that ridiculously large OEM steering wheel, and installed a Momo steering with Boss, so my steering is about 4" closer to me. Many thanks for the video mate, I'm sure it will help out an awful lot of people. Even people who didn't know this was possible! TURK
Just to clarify its the bar that goes from gearstick to the metal plate that needs to be reseated closer to the middle of the plate. I was so confused by the video as the aspect kept changing it confused me and my mechanic into getting the wrong side of the plate drilled.
Sorry your gears dont seem to be going in. No it's not the rod that goes from the gear box to that plate, I didnt really make that part clear, it's the drivers side of the plate that needs relocating that rod that goes back to the gear lever part. At 5.41 in the video you can see what I mean. Sorry that's unclear but u need to relocate that rod that goes from the gear stick to that plate, hope this has helped you 🤙
Hi can’t get 1st an 2nd gear is it the shaft under lever where pinch bolt is as can adjust that so maybe it’s in different position now.steve t4 2.5tdi 102.ive just put new bushes on and as gear stick broke off had to replace gear tower too.
Your having problems with 1st and 2nd and u havent got the short shift? If so that means it's the bushings that are on top of the gearbox, theres is three I had to replace mine there cheap and easy to do, I couldnt drive my van without short shift now makes so much difference, inwas use to mine without short shift aswel but having a shorter throw makes life so much easier
@@PranceProject Just done it, makes a huge difference and feels like a car gearbox now. Thanks again for the video, made it a lot simpler knowing what I had to do 👍
I was looking at mine today but the gear shift lever has alot off play in it ,it's moves about 5mm up and down wobbles like hell,is there a bush in there I can replace
Same here I heard about it but couldn't find anything other than some forum stuff so inthough why not drag the info into 2019 and make it easy to follow with a video
PranceProject I also just payed more attention to what you were saying in the video instead of just staring at what you were doing. And realised you said about re-using the existing bushing. 👍🏻 you’re t4 looks class mate. Great videos.
@@davidqueree u can reuse and and to be honest u dont even need to take that off that end but for £5 to get new might as well for piece of mind ain't it, thanks mate I still.have millions I would like to do and will do but thank you mate
@@PranceProject nice one i got to change the bushes and rubbers anyway as 1st ans 2nd gear is a bit stiff so hope it fixes it and deffo be making it shorter glad i found your vid ..have you still got your t4
I can't remember 100% but I would have thought u can get tonic without removing the under tray if not it's only 4 bolts and the tray will move out the way enough

Been meaning to do this for years, I've just got a new bushings set, so I might do it at the same time.
I would highly recommend doing it as it will make a massive difference 🤙
Good job bro.I’m that used to my long throw I feel like Stanley baker in hell driver😂

When you put it alll back together do you have to move the gear stick in gear or anything so it all lines up when done
Awesome dude, definitely doing this next weekend.
Steve Matthews so easy and makes such a difference and it's free "winning"
Great vid, I am going to give this a go when it stops raining! I have subscribed.
Thanks it's easy and makes such a difference enjoy.and thanks for subscribing 🤙

So whats the downside of this mod? Does the plate wears off easier?
Just tried to do mine, but the crossbar has fixed balls on the end instead of bushes, so it can't be done :0(
A fixed ball? Which end
