Given Dark Matter’s ability to engulf entire worlds, Boros would have an almost impossibly difficult time keeping himself from being taken alive. Dark Matter can only be destroyed by good vibes and Boros doesn’t have any of those. Great song, by the way.

Dark Matter can't engulf an entire world alone. He didn't do so in Dream Land 2. The one doing so in Dream Land 3 was 0 & bunch of Dark Matter beings / or maybe only the bunch of Dark Matter / or maybe just 0 / or maybe just 1 Dark Matter, it's far from clear. And in 64 the aliens are actually not part of the Dark Matter species, but even then many of them did the job.
While many dark matter can engulf worlds, one alone certainly cannot, as far as I'm aware. Dark Matter, however CAN posses others, so if Boros isn't immune to possession they are screwed.
Actually! Only zero can do that since dark matter kinda functions as a hivemind controlled by em.
That being said the rest is generally true.
Although it's worth noting that the master crown, a likely off-shoot of Dark Matter (species) was beat without positive energy.
I could maybe see Dark Matter winning if it was ZERO being used, but the version shown is the one people either call "Dark Matter Blade" or "Dark Matter Swordsman"

It’s a bit hard to determine where exactly Dark Matter, at least the one in this case, would be in terms of power. Scaling to Kirby seems like the obvious answer, but the game that Dark Matter first appeared in came out before even the Megaton Punch minigame was a thing. I’ll hold off on scaling to Kirby for a bit. But I can also say we shouldn’t directly scale it to the higher levels of Dark Matter like Zero, Dark Mind and Void Termina, since this one is far lesser than them. They’re more like ants, and Zero is the queen.
Dark Matter’s biggest personal feat of power is destroying the rainbows connecting the Rainbow Islands, basically magical bridges connecting several large islands.
For speed, it’s a simpler matter, no pun intended. We can scale this Dark Matter to other forms of it, most notably Dark Nebula and the lesser Dark Matters from Kirby 64. Dark Nebula was able to outpace the Warp Star, which is able to travel between galaxies, and the Dark Matters from Kirby 64 were able to intercept Ribbon using the crystal to fly through the galaxy at ludicrous speeds.
For defense, again this Dark Matter appeared very early in the Kirby series, but directly battling Kirby is still a major feat, considering that immediately after Dark Matter died Kirby immediately passed out from exhaustion, so he was clearly giving it his all. Given the spacing of it all I’d say scaling to Megaton Punch cracking Popstar would be pretty fair.
For hax, it’s a bit more straightforward since we only have a few hax to worry about. For one, since Dark Matter is a being compromised of negative energy and emotion, it can only be harmed by positive energy. This includes seemingly holy things like Galaxia and the crystal to weaponry made from positive emotions. The Rainbow Sword symbolizes the connection and friendship between the people of the Rainbow Islands and the Love-Love Stick (Yes there’s a thing in Kirby called the Love-Love Stick) is made of the gratitude of the people of Pop Star. This is a bit of a no limits fallacy and inconsistent since Dark Nebula and even the Dark Matter Clone in Planet Robobot can be defeated without such armament.
But on that note, I’d like to bring up another maybe important factor, that being that Boros wouldn’t be able to understand what Dark Matter is. In the side game Meta Knightmare Returns (which is not strictly canon but can be seen as a side story) the ancient supercomputer Star Dream makes a clone of Dark Matter… but an incomplete one. According to the pause screen, this is because Star Dream couldn’t fully comprehend it. A wish granting ancient supercomputer made by people that could cross dimensions couldn’t completely comprehend what a lesser Dark Matter is.
And that brings me to my final point. What Dark Matter is known for best: Possession. Dark Matter takes over the mind and body of its host, empowering them to a degree. It was strong enough to take control of King Dedede, though this isn’t exactly a feat since Dedede gets controlled one way or another all the time. But still, POSSESSION.
Anyway that’s what Dark Matter can do.

Retellings of the story in the first game have Kirby defeat Knuckle Joes, a fellow competitor of Megaton Punch with a similar, if lesser feat. So at the very least he's that strong. The Dark Matter in Dream Land 3 shows up after the Megaton Punch, so at that point Kirby would be that strong, and he may or may not the same Dark Matter (A Jap. guide states that the enemy of the last game came back with their / his [Jap. has no pronouns] boss, 0" and who knows what this means. Did Dark Matter regen'd again & came back for round 2? Or do they mean that like, the species is back, while the first Dark Matter shown is still super dead?)

Zero's the leader, and likely to be stronger, but it's not like he has any better feat. The meaning of their hierarchy is unknown, but a Dark Matter is fought right before Zero, they can't be too far from each other.

None of them are Dark Matter tho. Only the American guides say that the aliens in 64 are Dark Matter, not the game, nor Jap. guides, and the Kirby 20th Anniversary Encyclopedia states that they're not the same. Still, there is no growth in speed for the top-tiers in Kirby. In the second game we already have Nightmare keeping up with a Warp Star.

That's not a thing, fans claim to because you use special weapons to defeat them but that doesn't mean anything. Dark Matter is not a being compromised of negative energy and emotion, that's made up. He is unable to say "Let's be friends," that's canon, but not the same. He can be harmed by regular Kirby in Kirby Quest and its clone can be harm by regular Kirby, MK's wings, and the Meta-Knights. And Meta Knight's sword, which is not holy. Isn't Gooey able to harm a Dark Matter as well?

Yeah the invulnerability to everything but positive energy on the Dark matter species alone just wins this. It does not matter how many times Boros smacks his enemy around, he is a villain; an evil individual who couldn't possibly know the creature he's fighting, he physically does not have the ability to do any meaningful damage to A SIMPLE SCOUT FOR ZERO!

Void termina vs boros would be cool but void termina is a (kind of) seperate entity to dark matter, as it is potentially the birth of dark matter.But zero2 should be fine.
This one is... actually kinda tricky. Boros is the first guy known to take a hit from Saitama and even send him to the moon whilst having a near perfect regenerative ability and an energy attack that can destroy a planet. While Dark Matter is a... unique creature.... doesn't know when to *actually* die whilst having abilities that can give even Kirby a hard time before going through some kinda reincarnation cycle.... either way: this is a tough call. 🤔

Boros is planet level at best (possibly star) while dark matter could go up against Kirby who is universal even multiversal, they also might be cosmically linked as they both might be different forms of void termina.

You see, it's far, far more consistent if Kirby & co. grew stronger and the og Dark Matter was weaker than the clone. Read the feats in their VS Battles wiki profiles.
And even beyond that, the HWC has made clones implied to be stronger than the original. So.
The main problem is, ironically, the power of positivity and friendship (Yes. I am dead serious.) The dark matter entities (besides Dark Nebula, but literally no one cares about that guy) can only be harmed by objects of positive energy and gratitude like the rainbow sword, Love-Love Stick, crystal gun, and the Star Allies Sparkler. This means unless Boros is able to course correct into genuine good person or use an asspull to obtain such weaponry, he cannot harm Dark Matter at all, period.

@@FranTheNerd I'm honestly not sure whether or not Saitama's broken limits could be copied tbh, as it's incredibly obscure and specific to just that setting. There's a pretty decent chance his punching schtick ends up copied instead (I mean, whenever Kirby copies a fire based enemy, it almost always gives him the same powers, same for swords, ice, etc. It's almost like he just yoinks the general trait rather than super specific ones). Although I'd argue that Kirby's definitely had moments where he's had to push himself beyond normal limits against final bosses, usually with either special artifacts or transformations involved. At least, I think he probably might've, especially considerin that one time he had to turn into a semi-truck to even get anywhere.
Of course, the puffball kinda eats so much that I'm pretty certain he has an infinite source of energy at this point and can probably never tire out (save for sleep), but yea, that's just my random thoughts.

Surprised that Battle Beast isn't Boros' first commission enemy. Not complaining tho, Kirby does have some solid OST even if I absolutely despise it purely because of its fanbase and how much they overrate it powerscaling-wise.
But thank gosh that doesn't affect the quality of the song because this is one solid track. It sounds great and also manages to catche very well the scale and power of those two while feeling just stereotypically evil-enough to fit them still. It feels powerful, epic, antagonistic but not overly so to still feel a bit mysterious and ambiguous and it's generally freaking cool.
In fact, I really like how this song goes all out in its use of stereotypically powerful and epic tones and notes. Similar to the characters themselves, it knows how edgy it is and doesn't shy away from it, instead fully exploiting what makes those edgy and cheesy characters cool. And that results in a pretty "shallow" song in terms of depth but one that's absolutely great to listen to. In a way it reminds me of Verbing The Noun but just a bit less extreme (which isn't bad either, I like Verbing The Noun unironically.)
Let's take a single example because it'll also allow me to talk about my favorite segment in the song: the ending starting at 1:58. Yet again it's so very stereotypical by being a repeated loop of cello (I think) that slowly gets more intense and more powerful to build up hype followed by a very powerful, epic and impactful climactic segment starting at 2:30. But damn it does it so well. It's It takes everything that makes the rest of the song appreciable (edgy but not too much, epic, catchy, intense, etc...) and just pumps it up to eleven to make a genuinely heavily appreciable climax to an already good song.
I can't elaborate too much more onto it because, due to its writing, the song is a bit shallow in terms of depth. But really that's not an issue here because the song is absolutely conscious of that and plays heavily onto it which makes it actually better. I may not have much to say about it but what I can say is that it's definitely a more than respectable song.
Overall this song is about as simple as it gets in terms of how it's written but darn do I like it specifically for that. It 100% knows what it is and what it wants to showcase and succeeds at it perfectly. It sounds catchy, fitting of the characters and above all it sounds extremely freaking cool. There's not much to say on it and it isn't the song of the century, true that, but it absolutely doesn't need to have either to be one hell of a good track. Amazing job with this as always.

I doubt Dark Matter can defeat Boros, you got to remember that it serves Zero and was nothing more than a creature designed not with sentience, but to consume Popstar in darkness. Sure Kirby needed the Rainbow Sword and Love-Love Stick, but he’s defeated bigger threats like Astral Birth, Magolor and Marx without a powerful weapon. Heck, even Meta-Knight defeated a version of Dark Matter wielding the Rainbow Sword.

Here is the thing, Kirby needed those special weapons because they are the only things that can harm Dark Matter, it's a being of pure darkness that can only be hurt by positivity, colors and friendship, otherwise they are immune to all damage (the Dark Matter Meta Knight fought was a clone so he doesn't count)
Besides, one single Dark Matter is insanely powerful, in Dream Land 2 a single one conquered and corrupted the entire planet of Popstar in a few seconds, in 64 three common Dark Matters flew past 8 galaxies in 7 seconds
Not to mention that Dark Matter doesn't just use darkness beams to attack, they can use and weaponize their own memories, so anything Kirby used against them in the past, they can use now
And even if you think Dark Matter doesn't have enough power to kill Boros, he can't do anything about Dark Matter's main trick: Possession
Only two being can resist Dark Matter's possession, other darkness beings and Kirby, so there's no reason to believe Boros could resist it, and he's no way fast enough to dodge Dark Matter for very long
Granted....those three you brought up...had help (Marx is debatable if you had a helper but canonically Void and Magolor got jumped by 4 dudes with 1 of them being Kirby)

Dark Matter definitely varies in power, but an incomplete clone did appear in Planet Robobot, meaning it is far stronger than that. And this incomplete clone was able to fight Kirby. Even if it lost, even less than one percent of Kirby's full power at this point is far stronger than anything Boros has done.
Not to mention stronger members Dark Matter species seem to have an immunity or at least resistance to traditional damage. As the main one in Dreamland 2 could only be destroyed by the positive emotions like the Rainbow Rod, Love-Love Stick, and Crystal Gun. Meaning if Boros was stronger, it'd be hard to say he could do any lasting damage.
Not to mention Boros likely doesn't have any immunity to possession, which is the primary ability of the species. Even possessing far stronger beings like King Dedede

Gooey has access to the same heart ability Kirby has in Star Allies bc he was granted such powers. See how Kirby was granted those powers by a light heart? See how many, many light hearts rain across the galaxy? See how those abilities in at least MK & DDD are portrayed as new in that game? All Dream Friends had this granted to them. If not by a fallen light heart then by being summoned by a Dream Rod, as it uses the same Friend Heart-effect on targets.
It's worthless. Gooey didn't have this back then. And if you meant as in "he has the ability to be granted this" then everyone can be granted superpowers by a power that grants superpowers.

Ok, so, true Dark Matter is his real form. The swordsman form he takes is like an appearance he takes via body control / shapeshifting powers. If he were to be invincible against anything but a few weaknesses, it would apply to both of his forms, bc 1 is not lesser than the other in such a way that the nature of his body is worsened.
His pause menu is also mistranslated. Star Dream couldn't make his 2nd phase, but that's that.
