Hiya everyone, commissioner here. I’d like to preface this mu as not many could see it outside of “2 very battle hungry maniacs”.
Firstly I picked this one precisely for that reason and nothing more. Secondly I had this commissioned before SF6 announced Akuma so no Shura influence just Akumas SF5 theme. Thirdly the god mode option, because why not. Brandon and Dek thank you boty for this. Enjoy everyone!

Didn't expect the Mad Dog of Sector Seven getting a track and against Akuma as well, that's pretty cool.

Blazblue scaling go brrr.
A track name that'll make any Soulsborne player feel at home. Also, I realize I'm starting to say it with almost every track but it's worth mentioning due to their quality, but damn that's a good track art.
I'll admit, when I first started listening to this track I didn't notice that it was God Mode at first. Firstly because I didn't read the description (shame upon me, I know) and also because it seemed to me like it just didn't have what it took to be a god mode track. I mean, the start of the track is really solid metal/rock but Brandon's shown time and time again that he knows how to do that genre with exceptional quality even on regular tracks.
Then arrived 0:57 and I instantly had thoughts that this may have been a God Mode track (turns out it was). I straight up don't know BlazBlue, let alone who Azrael is, and don't know much about Akuma nor Street Fighter beyond the basics so I never would have expected almost dubstep to make its way into the track so that was a surprise for sure, but a really good one. It allows the song to feel much more varied and dynamic than if it was just straight rock/metal.
This links into one of the main things I like about the track: the variety it shows and its progression. While there are only a few "hotspots" during the track where it feels exceptionally intense (which I'll mention later), most of the track has a very distinct weight and impact to it. It feels like both characters, even when they're not actively beating up one another, still have so much presence that their wrath and rage can be felt radiating around them.
I must emphasize that I quite appreciate this dynamic because it reflects the sheer power and skill those two seem to have. There's only a couple segments in the song that truly have extreme intensity to them but the whole entire track feels powerful: it's as if those two only have a couple segments in which they go all out trying to finish off the enemy but for the entire battle they still analyze their opponent and display their immense power.
Speaking of power, I really like how the song plays its power dynamic throughout its duration: the start/first half of the song feels much more chaotic and erratic and even if it reflects power still, it doesn't have quite the same impact as the other which feels slower but more impactful and powerful in those few bursts it has. This is a good way to represent how the two would start the battle fighting "normally" but as it progresses, they'd display more and more of their sheer presence and focus their strikes in bursts to try and take down the opponent instead of trying to take them down with regular attacks.
This progression is even felt throughout the second half of the track as there's the segment at 1:48 that starts repeating itself for a large segment of the track but each time it repeats, it gains intensity to showcase how they're both slowly increasing the scales of the battle to eventually lead into its climax, beginning at 2:47 with a full buildup that truly sets the weight of what's about to happen, leading into the complete breakdown at 3:02 where we finally get to hear and feel the full power of those two characters clashing. And here this segment only lasts a tiny bit more than 20 seconds to get across how, when those two go all out, regardless of who the opponent is, this is a clash that's bound to be short as one way or another someone will end up fallen by the end, something that's well-reflected in the sheer power and brutality it has. Not only does it sound amazing but it gets across amazingly everything I've mentioned earlier about power and scale for those two.
And another thing I like even more is the fact that the song doesn't actually end here. I can just imagine either Akuma or Azrael using their would-be strongest attack in the previous segment, making it seem as if one of them distinctly won only for the "loser" to get back up at 3:26, calling for another round to truly decide this battle. But even for those two by now you can feel that they're reaching their limits as the song takes time to fully restart and, before it does, it has to take some time to recuperate with those bursts at 3:36 that preclude the true finale. A great way to reflect the strength of both those characters: they're strong enough that they're capable of fighting until even themselves and their opponent which are both known for being absolute powerhouses are starting to reach their limits.
This makes the finale truly starting at 3:45 even more satisfying and impactful as here, instead of having just raw impact like the previous breakdown, here it feels more melodic to showcase how, during this final clash, those two are having *fun* : they've finally found an opponent to match them and are ready to give everything against a worthy adversary. This makes this ending just as powerful as the previous segment but with a completely different feeling that it conveys. But one that's definitely worthy of being the ending to such a battle nonetheless.
Overall this track I'd say is definitely worthy of being a God Mode track. Even without having much knowledge of the characters, it still has enough of a presence and personality that it's very easy to catch the sheer presence of both characters throughout the song. I mean, just with Akuma in the mix you know it's gonna be a Brick VS Brick matchup but this track puts it into perspective and adds more to it while emphasizing this overwhelming power feeling: sure they're not the strongest characters in fiction, but with the way they hold themselves and are perceived, they might as well be. Amazing job as always with this.

I like how this track switches rock, to some kind of electronic genre, to dubstep and back.
1:48 to 2:48 of the song legit hits different for me. Brandon really got me jamming to this more than I should already, God damn.

I laughed a bit at the title, makes me think of a version of death carrying a giant sack with 1000 souls/bodies in it in the background as the two fight.

I believe it's to reference Akuma's iconic phrase of "DIE 1000 DEATHS!" (obviously), while the Azrael part comes in with Azrael sometimes being called "He Who Carries Death."

BlazBlue fully focuses on metal as a genre (Daisuke Ishiwatari yo!) with The Tyrant (Azrael's Theme) fully being one of the most hardcore tracks in the game. There is one techno song however, and that is Conciliation, Es's Theme. But it's still completely different from the one presented here.
The techno, or should I say Dubstep presented here comes from Akuma's Theme in Street Fighter V, which is a Dubstep remix of his classic theme. The "Demon Dubstep" as called by some. SFV soundtrack goes with different genres from techno, dubstep, metal, etc.
So for short, this song takes cues from both their themes.
Like I said on Therewolf Media's track for Akuma vs Terumi, we need Akuma to fight every other fighting game antagonist known to man.
