Turn on CC for some details. I'm gonna try to keep doing this on future build videos. Thanks for watching!
Kirby Meets Audio are these flat? And if i were to order it can you add an amp?
Добрый вечер меня зовут Натик Я из Москвы мне очень понравился ваш работа очень понравился! Я бы хотел заказать если это возможно Спасибо!
Good evening my name is Natik I'm from Moscow I really liked your work very much! I would like to order if possible Thanks!
Okay, and you're use of the closed captions to annotate the build process is stellar wonderful novel and amazing and I'm sharing this with everyone I know. I mean that won't block me for sending them geek stuff like this.
I really like how the care of your disassembly went
Love seeing the progression of this project. Thanks for the inspiration as always!
Thanks so much for watching!
Paint job is just amazing and that look stunning, great job buddy!
Thank you!
Too bad you ruined it when you glued the front plate.
Probably it was better to mask the borders of it.. but awesome work!!!
Kirby Meets Audio how did you paint mdf? Only with spray paint, or sometging else? Tnx
Ravs Ajay so true, it's really nice
Very nice build. Love the look of the finished product. Would have been nice to have a sound comparison though.
As always, great job Kirby. Super easy build for a beginner
Good plan Kirby, I do not understand why people would want open baffle. It has an effect on the sound no doubt and I know some like it but it introduces all kinds of phase issue IMO.
Greetings from Costa Rica.
I love your videos.
, do you ever consider Brad nailing and or using blocks of wood for corner bracing Kirby ? you should I think consider it. You could even experiment with biscutes.
with a Plunge router and biscute joiner attachment.
they add a lot of strength to cabnets.
This is ART!
You got yourself one subscriber! Beautiful speakers, I'd love to listen to them! Excellent filming, great lighting and angles! Superb music, it matches perfectly what you are doing, the pace is just perfect! Watching this video is really soothing and feels like seing an artwork in process! Which it is!
Keep the great work coming!
Actually open baffles and ported both combine together sounds super good..
Do you have some design ideas for a hybrid speaker?
Production quality 10/10
You make a speaker as art man! I have two questions though.
1. What did you apply to the mdf???? It looks pretty smooth and nice. it doesn't look like
a mdf
2. What is it at the speaker unit???? like you just put the wire inside to that something.
I always solder the wire back of the speaker unit and it was very inconvenient but it looks nice!
Anyway, your work is awesome!
The baffles are simply too small for open baffle. The cancelletion wavelength is much too short. This can only work with a very large baffle or a supporting woofer/sub.
True, could also have used a folded baffle design for a smaller overall footprint. The folds and placement can be calculated based on the roll-off frequencies and driver size.
@Conor Hanley Apologise
Got some OBs which i use With a subwoofer... Looks like the first u made, but With more Box at the back. this made the sound fuller... and it cut just where the subwoofer takes over. sounds great.
Just love your work dude. It's amazing. I did my own wood bluetooth speaker by inspiring me from your work.
Super awesome video! Thanks for putting in so much effort for your viewers. It shows. New fan.
May i ask what glue are you using? TIA. Great workmanship.
Your videos are really fun, informative, and very well made! And the just gave me the urge to go make some speakers!
Nice job. seem like a cabinet builder building a speaker enclosure
You've learned when it comes to filming! This is one euphoric video. I really like all the angles you get when filming this process. i'd really like to see more of these kind of videos, when you really do it really deep and through in the making of these builds. if i would describe this video with one word it would be: P***. but this is some next level shit you got going! no words! just Mmm!
Nice work! I'm looking forward to your impressions.
BTW, I've enjoyed a number of your videos, and I really appreciate your candor and humility.
Thanks for watching!
Aww. I liked the open baffle version. I'm building one now. The crossover network is a nightmare. The internet offers little to no help so I can't buy the parts because I don't know what they do.
Another great video, Kirby. Thanks for sharing.
MDF is definitely a great material for such projects, but the dust it kicks up is brutal. It might be time to think about a dust collection solution for your table saw.
, I love those Tang Band speakers. Absolutely some of my favorite speakers ever !!!
They're Dayton Audio's.
Amazing video as usual
Great job as always
The Qts of that driver is very low - too low for an open baffle. It needs a vented box or a transmission line enclosure to provide the resonance in the bass range needed for satisfying-sounding bass. Also, the driver will benefit from a contour filter to control the energetic midrange and bring it more in line with the bass and highs. If you've never bought one, pick up a Dayton Audio OmniMic; it is so simple to use and will really open your eyes to where projects like this can be improved.
great looking speaker boxes, if they sound half as good as they look should be impressive :)
you are the best man
Great build. Very cool.
great tutorials. i want to build a future enclosure. total starter here. little question, how you decided about the enclosure volume?
, at first I was like? holy shit, your destroying your speakers but now I see that you are building boxes for them.
those Tang Band full range speakers are amount my favorite
thank you from the subscriber from Russia
Great job!!!
Beautiful.....
can you explain the painting process?
Very nice.
Just wondering why you didn't "fix" the existing open baffle with the new knowledge (I'm assuming) you acquired in regards to open baffle design?
because of the drivers, they where not suited for open baffle design
Hey mate, love your videos...any tips on making speakers without a wood shop in your back yard? :)
Router table>table saw. It'll waste more material than a table saw but a router table can do much MUCH more than a table saw can, a straight bit can cut boards and plywood like a table saw, can switch to bits for roundover or making dovetails or recesses, and if you still precisely spaced holes or make your own router table you can use pins to make a circle cutter effect to cut the holes for the drivers. Best bit of advice I've been given for working in tight spaces or with few tools.
Man you got skills, I think ya should try something new ... hi fi as ... t-line omnidirectional or horn build... otherwise it’s starting to get old ;)
I'm curious and new to woodworking so I may be dead wrong but... couldn't you have used some additional intermediate boards to be able to clamp the face at the end to get a better fit and avoid marring the finish?
Hey nice vids!
Did you ever do the layout and scematics of your speakers electronics by yourself?
Ha ha, I could feel your attitude in this video.
Your body language was like “maan I don’t even care anymore.”.
I have two subwoofers of sound link 42mm (1.5 inch)
How many inches of box do you have to make for this speaker's good effect?
Without bass resonance.
No Bass Resonance.
is going to use Bass Air Tube
SUPREME VICTORY!!!
MAKE A VIDEO KIRBY TO SEE THE SOUND OF THIS SPEAKERS u Have make
GREETINGS FROM TIJUANA.B.C
So, what are the results of how they sound? Please and Thanks
Great job, saludos desde España!
, also, I've noticed that you don't ever use any POLYFILL??? why?
you should consider using some, it will give your speakers better bass response and less cabnet resonance. 😁
Nice speakers
Was that 1" MDF?? I'm eager to hear the comparison between the 2! What paint/finish did you use to get that gloss?
Nice work.
Thank you!
what finish did you use on the mdf? looks stunning... :D good job!
crazyyyy video!!!Like
Fantasy!
How do you determine the size of the box for the speakers you are using? Does a larger or smaller box affect the sound?
You can calculate the size of a sealed or ported speaker box if you know the driver characteristics and parameters.
There is also a recommended box volume given in the driver specifications.
It's usually better to determine it yourself - there are online speaker box calculators.
now , hopes, it can work correct
is there crossover in that enclosure ?
Sound test
In progress! Thanks for watching!
@@KirbyMeetsAudio Soundtest 😁 It's January 23, 2021 as of the moment I typed this comment 😂
Biscuits, Norm always says biscuits.
The front panel had to be attached to the decorative screws. Clay came out on the sides noticeably.
Second Life Tools yeah, it did... maybe next time, i guess.. :)
What brand of table saw is that?
Quedaron fregonas Mr kirby
Y que tal si haces tutoriales ???? Seria buen contenido y unico saludos !
Goh so frustrated, I'm looking everywhere for your thoughts on how what happened. Why try open first place and then how and why you solved it. Looking on the comments give you some snippets of info. CC on nothing pops up. Website nothing. Just 20 seconds of explanations would make this all feel so less crippled. Great stuff, building things based on yourplans for the first time right now.
hello kirby my name is hector de argentina. I have a home cinema amplifier 5.1 sony str-k680. I need speaker designs. Would you have any or could you do any in your videos? Greetings and thanks
You need to be more specific, he already has lots of speaker designs and Google is your best friend at finding stuff like this.
Where's the felt or foam inside the box?
Are there any rules on positioning the vents in relation to the speaker position?
There are, but unless you're building a HUGE enclosure, you don't really have to worry about it. Thanks for watching!
I've heard that it's good to avoid aiming the inner vent opening toward the cone. I noticed that your vent does sort of aim at the backside of the cone. Any thoughts? Also, any particular reason why you chose to mount the vent on the rear panel instead of the baffle?
Nordgrinder i would go with the front as well. now it is almost directly behind the speaker. good build anyway
Kopitarko, thanks for the feedback. Agreed. It's a good build, and a nice video.
Moar glue! i would think more would be needed with mdf, as it absorbs glue easily.
Why does your music always sound like it can never find the beat?
, no Polly fill ?
send them to zeos reviews
very nice music
comfy
Agreed
Awesome work... but, that glue on the sides 🤕🤢😷😭
change the song fs
☺
why you changed the old design to this, i mean it probably sounds better but it's way more boring, looks like a speaker even i could make
awesome build bro, but that fucking song playing along the entire video AGAIN!?!?!
thats an audiophile song.
I hate the song. So i kept it mute the whole video
!
