The American T28 super heavy tank, also known as the T95 gun motor carriage, is quite possibly the slowest vehicle in the entirety of War Thunder. It is essentially invulnerable from the front, but not from the sides. Its very low top speed and high protection have earned it the nickname Doom Turtle, though newer players have taken to calling it Tutel. It shouldn't be able to neutral steer, but nobody tell Gaijin about that.

Had a lot of fun editing this one so I hope you guys like it. Also I see a lot of comments saying the T-34 was trying to speed me up, but he was following close behind me and would run into me every time I stopped. I assume he was trying to use me for cover.

You know what? I just want a 30 minute video of Spookston having fun in his favorite tanks. Forget compiling every single tank in WT, forget trying to play heavies in lobbies with air spam, I just want "Spookston "enjoying" War Thunder for 30 minutes". Man deserves it.

Fun fact - that 4:56 T28 falling down from the cliff and reaching a 74kph has more kinetic energy (12.55MJ) atm than its T32 round has when leaving the barrel at 3290kph (7,39MJ).
So what you're saying is that both would hurt my bushed-up L3 sitting at the bottom of the cliff?

The T-34-85 is a WoT player for sure lmao. It looks like he’s trying to push you (WoT physics assure me being shunted like a freight car makes you go faster), it doesn’t work due to the T28 being fat, but it’s the thought that counts.

Fun fact. The army nicknamed it the doom turtle not because of the impending doom the enemy now faced, but because any crew that manned it was doomed to be up-tiered against ATGMs and 105mm guns.

@drmaulana2600 It's great IRL cause the main cannon is mostly for light vehicles, and it's not supposed to be engaging MBTs except as an absolute worst case scenario. Its for carrying infantry and providing fire support once they dismount, and it is excellent in that role.

You should play The object 120. Its surprisingly survivable if they shoot your side.

If I remember correctly, it wasn't even supposed to actually fight without the second set of tracks on the t95, the outer tracks were removed just to make it possible to transport on trains/trucks or something like that.
I think it WAS initially tested with just the single pair of tracks, but ground pressure was so high and hampered mobility so much that they added the outside pair...but yes had to keep them detachable to transport the thing.

T28 and T95 are actually not bad tanks at their BRs. Surprisingly potent.
incredibly potent in wide open map or in high position, not so much on urban map or vietnam.

I don't care if it is potent or not if I go into a temper tantrum on my way to the first cap point because I bumped into a solid object adding a full minute to my travel time. ^^

There is one singular upside to being as slow as the T28/95. It's genuinely so slow that there's zero gun wobbling. It's like it's stabilized.
8:16 YES TY FOR SAYING THIS, pushing someone from behind does more trouble than good. They mess with your crucial precious time to aim by bumping u and limit your option to retreat in exchange for like 2 extra km/hr
I think spookston went through all the stages of grief in this video. It may not seem like he hit the acceptance stage,but compared to his emotions before I'd say that was acceptance.
The T95 always really worked well with my 'slow and steady' play style but sometimes it really does try even my patience. On the flip side nothing beats the feeling of having someone dump their entire load of ammo into your front end and start screaming in chat at how you are hacking.

I remember I pushed one of these guys at the beginning of the match (same squad so easy to see him wherever he went anyways) and then pulled off to his left. We basically were parallel to each other for the rest of the match, maybe 70-90 meters apart. We ended up getting like 4 kills each, helping each other. Dude even made it to enemy cap. It was that mode where each team gets 1

11:03, since it was designed to be a literal mobile bunker they probably did that for interchangeability, so if any of its bogies gets destroyed they could theoretically replace it with one off of a Sherman.

@@DubiousFINI think calling it "portable bunker" sounds better, since as we know, saying something is mobile typically implies it can yk, move faster than a walking person. So saying portable implies it can move and nothing more.
I absolutely love super heavy tanks, T28, and black prince usually brings me about 3-6 kills per match.
Nice to see in not the only one who removes the right ear from my headset randomly while playing games with directional sound.
I just had a 7 kill match with it, the T28 is pretty good because there are only a handful of tanks that can pen its frontal armor. The T95 on the other hand has so many tanks that can pen it frontally.
Also at 0:51, that person is trying to push you so you can move faster, I know this because I play a lot of T28/T95.
Still prefer the T95. Brawling is where the kills are at and brawling range is where you need the side armour and traverse speed.
T95 just has such good survivability against bombs though, and tbh there's only really a lot of tanks that can pen you only if you get a full up tier battle, I typically find then when it's a low tier battle the t95 just has such insane survivability and the side armor saves you so many times it's almost ridiculous lmao like it just shrugs off anything buy heat and even then any heat rounds 90mm and below will struggle to pen your armor because it's so thick, and the side armor just eats heat shells all day long

@@Train115 Buildings limit the number of tanks that can engage you at one time. If you play smart and with a bit of luck then the tanks that can pen you will be driving in the direction of your gun.

It can fight M-51's + other HEAT Tanks making it kinda weak if it finds them. (Also the M-51 Gets 3 lives, 4 if they have the premium variant as well)
Hes saying that same m51 got shot 4 times. Ussually if it survies one hit (turret crew dead) the second hit will kill it

Try and give 10.0 sweden a go, since the BR changes got rid of some of the harder to kill tanks at it's BR! Also, it's a ridiculously massive lineup for ground.
that CV-105/CV-120 have really busted damage models, they bounce APFSDS to the UFP and side...

I can count on one hand the number of times a shot has bounced off the front of my CV 105. The thing would be the epitome of Swedish glass cannons if it weren't for the pitiful post-pen damage of 105mm guns.

Yeah but taking the extra tracks off the T95 makes a huge difference when it comes to playstyle and capability. The extra pair of tracks provide significant advantages in the form of armor and insanely good neutral traverse. If anything, the T28 is one of the better examples of a premium version of a tech tree vehicle.

The reason why people stick to heavy tanks that are especially very slow is to push them so they can get to battle a little faster

I love this tank, and i agree with the pushing, i just stop moving or even reverse into them, my biggest annoyance is gettibg my barrel shot out before i get a shot off, but the amount of games where i just go nuts with this thing makes up for it. It also makes a great makeshift spaa

tbh i keep this around for very specific cases where we need to push through a street that it JUST wide enough for it, then you can basically absorb all the shots for your allies as you advance

You should try the SMK in the Russian tech tree, I always see it in the premiums but in my time playing I've never seen anyone actually use it.

when i was a kid, i got the Road to Rome expansion pack for BF 1942 and the T28/95 was in multiple maps and my 10 year old self absolutely fell in love. the double wide tracks, the MASSIVE mantle, no turret... it was just so cool to me. I watched and read everything i could about it but there wasnt much info about it back then besides it was found in a farmers field and it was on display in Ft. Knox, KY. About 8 years later, the summer of my freshmen year in college, i did a month of training in Ft. Knox and at the end of the month, there was an event held at the patton museum and i was so excited to see it but unfortunately the T28 had been moved by then. Another 4 years later and im in the Armor School in Ft. Benning. the school i went to is somewhat close to the base and they use their shooting ranges sometimes, so when a buddy who was still in school asked me to come to the range, ofc i said yes. to get to this particular range, i had to pass a motorpool which had been used mostly as a storage bay for incoming new vehicles, outgoing new vehicles, AND the collection of armored vehicles that is now on display at the Armor and Cavalry Collection. As im passing by, i look out my window and what do i see? The only surviving example of the T-28. I was so shocked that after 10 years of obsessing over this vehicle i found it out of complete randomness. Absolutely wild. And i got to get up close and personal with it this past september. I dont care how good or bad it was, i just love it.
I believe it wasn't a part of road to rome expansion pack but the secret weapons of WWII.
I distinctly remember shooting T95 with Wasserfall missiles and Sturmtiger. Both vehicles are definitely from secret weapons.

I honestly love this thing. Its uses are niche but as a more cautious player, a good spot with it can be devastating, especially with good friendly air support. I got north side in Domination on 38th parallel, went to one spot just south of the right hand spawn overlooking B, sat there for the entire match, and got a double ace. Sure, it could be considered camping, but what am I supposed to do in a tank literally designed to sit in one spot and snipe. A P-59A kept me covered for most of the match, so well in fact that my internet died and I reconnected from a mobile hotspot and was still alive and able to get the last two of ten kills. I love this thing so much, it eats through panthers like nothing else at 6.3 or below. Well worth the money for my play style.
