Hi, nice to see you back at work again. Personally, I've spent several months designing and creating model trees. One real trick that you didn't use when creating your model trees is using a warm stream of air from a hair dryer. When applying model grass with fresh spray adhesive, use a hot stream of air to give the fibers the appropriate direction of fall. This completely changes the quality and final effect!
Love the channel and the layout. Remember the key to making natural looking tree scenery is to use a huge variety of trees, just like nature does. Even among pine forests (for example) there are lots of other trees mixed into a real forest. Looking forward to the next video. I hope the layout is 95% complete in the next 5 years. It should be spectacular. Subscribed!
@rcgrabbag I've watched this entire series. I tip my hat to you! You have a level of expertise that many would consider next-level and hard-core. Your attention to detail is amazing!
Hi, first time watching your channel is truly amazing. I had no idea so beautiful and so wonderfully designed. Thank you very much from Pompano Beach Florida.
Thank you for sharing your method of making trees. Your layout is stunning in size and quality of each item that you build and it’s wonderful that you share your methods so that we can try to build a better layout. Carl did an amazing job on the Fine Scale Miniatures buildings and I always enjoy your other hobby and vacation videos.
Someone has been watching Luke Towan!! haha.. I have been watching the video a few times myself as I'm about to make a few pine trees for my layout.. Problem is... mine will be N Gauge.. So I've had to scale everything down.. Going to be very interesting to see how I go. Great to see another video from you. Craig.
@@rcgrabbag Yes it is.. I've just done my first one in N Gauge.. It was very fidderly!!! Some things in Luke's video probably aren't needed as it gets covered up! But lesson learnt on the first one.. :)
Another great instalment, not least because I'm currently looking at making trees for my layout. We have rather different varieties here in the UK but some really useful techniques here. Thanks a lot and I'm already looking forward to the next one.
I was going to argue about the use of CA glue and how it eventually un-stick itself over time BUT come to think about it, perhaps that's a good thing as trees eventually loose a limb or two or three or....
Nice recap as always...I continue to learn something new by watching your techniques. I also enjoyed the review if the Tamiya R/C cars. I had several with my favorites bring the Hotshot and Supershot but my absolute favorite is my Porsche 959.
Glad you enjoyed. I have a 959 running at a dirt track many years ago somewhere on this channel. It's really low resolution because it is old: ua-cam.com/video/1X3hswhB7QU/v-deo.html
This is literally a handful of trees, folks to make a video and get in some practice. Plus the second type I made was much taller in scale. Consider the short ones youngsters 😊
Good to see another post from you. I always look forward to the “grab bag” portion at the end of your videos and this one was really cool. Are you going to assemble the RC’s that are still boxed? That can’t be an easy decision. Thanks again for posting
I was very lucky to have had a Tamiya Cheetah for a Christmas present I think in 1976 or 1977, if I remember correctly the were the first affordable (relatively) RC cars. That said I think with the obligatory Acoms RC system it was over £100, and I know appreciate the value when you put it in to context with todays' value. I wish Tamiya would do a rerelease.
Well, what’s the update with that big giant train layout in your loft above the garage? Is there any progress? Looks like it’s been eight months since we’ve seen anything am I wrong?
I tried following your model RR build but couldn't find the missing, numbered videos. What happened to them? The last one showed how to manufacture model sized trees.
What's the cost of the layout at so far ive been watching this since the start and ive been wanting to build my own layout but dont have space for something of this size, been absolutely loving this tho man Keep it up
Thanks for watching! I honestly am not keep track of costs. It's a slow burn over a very long time, so I don't feel like I'm spending a lot even though I know over the long run it will be significant.
@@rcgrabbag no man. Thank you. Your build is incredible and I look forward to each step. Thank you for bringing us along. I have learned so many techniques from your videos. Also, your grab bag content is exceptional.
I think he’s lost interest in his train set. He has many hobbies like he said in previous videos, jump into things and then jumps out. Where are you at? Show us some updates on that beautiful train layout you should have a lot of scenery done by now right wink wink.
I really am missing this series. Hope to see a new video from you soon!
Hope all is well!!! Miss ur videos :)
Hey there thanks for watching! I am currently working on a new video and will have it out before the end of this month.

I had a Wild Willy. Loved it!
it looks great, thanks for the video and I hope there will be another one soon👍
Yes i have a new video in the works. It will be out by the end of the month. Thanks for watching!
I really enjoy your videos and amazing how to's. You have the patience of a saint making these trees, and unfortunately, I do not! Great job though.
Thanks for posting. Really looking forward to more!
Good job on those trees! It takes the patience of Job!
6:42 - Tell Carl he did a heck of a job!! Very nice.
Thanks very much! I'm sure Karl will appreciate the compliments as well!

Great tree building tutorial. Loved the vintage RC cars at the end.

Working on it!

New video🎉😊
How far ahead do you have your layout planned? Do you already know the terrain shape and where all the buildings are going?
The terrain, yes I have a pretty good idea. The buildings not for all, but some I do.
Thank you
Yessir!
Hope you will come back soon...
I am working on a new video as we speak. Giving a LOT of thought on how/what to turn them out faster!

I did 2 Tamiya RC King Hauler. 1 with Tamiya MFC 0-1 lights and sound, a semi trailer and light for the trailer
Nice Trees so simple :) I still have my Tamia Toyota Hi-Lux, the battery is dead but otherwise it is still in perfect working condition.
Wouldn't it have been better to apply the bark effect (4:21) before inserting the branches into the trunk? Thanks for sharing, love the video!
I say do whatever you feel is best! I guess my concern would be knocking the bark effect off while I was inserting the branches.
Nice job on the trees man.
Thanks! Tips from those who have gone before me.
Wow, AWESOME!
Thank you! Cheers!
Been awhile since you have posted a video. Hope all is well for you and yours
Yes thank you, there will be more videos coming.
👍💪✌
Time foran update!!!
Those trees look fantastic, but a 6" HO scale scale tree is only 43 scale feet tall, pretty short for most pines.
That's exactly what I was thinking.
This is literally a handful of trees, folks to make a video and get in some practice. Plus the second type I made was much taller in scale. Consider the short ones youngsters 😊
He said starting with small trees at start
@@rcgrabbag cool. This looks as though it's on its way to being an amazing layout.
@@rcgrabbag Yes, I did notice that. 👍🏼👍🏼...and they are all impressive looking trees.
Thx for your videos. Any update soon?

Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoy the "random" content. I will likely leave the kits unbuilt as I have versions that are built.
I thought about trying to 3d print trees. That way the printer is continuously working at growing them!

Someone has a lot of time on one’s hands…
That depends on how many trees he has on the next video... 🤣
YOur latest video, rcgrabbag uploaded: Layout room floor installed-post benchwork! is blocked by youtube.
Imagine you have to make a 1000 trees to properly "fill" your model.
