Bought the 410 midland and love it. I use federal steel 6s going 1400fps and drops grouse like no one's business out to 25 yards. Because I choose to only shoot steel, I went with the mod choke and 22in barrel and it patterns wonderfully. Absolutely love the gun.
Midland Arms promptly replaced our bead, and we are back in the game!
here is the follow up video testing various ammo! ua-cam.com/video/ITexKo9C70Q/v-deo.html
So how did the bead come off to begin with? Was is not loktite down enough?
@@Shannon_Lacey simply worked its way lose, i didnt see any evidence of glue or locktite in the threading.
I do better with these but then I have old eyes. Stands up to the slugs fine. Must install correctly on the first try as the grip it has on the barrel is unbelievable. honeycreektackle.com/tru-tg93b-glodot-ii-410-grn/
I agree 357 with iron sights and ill buy two!
Another great review, I never miss one.
I had the same problem with my 12 gauge Midland Backpacker front bead sight also. I couldn’t find my front sight so I just purchased a HighViz green snap on front sight. I put a little black silicone on the barrel and inside the sight body and popped it on. It takes about 24 hours to dry. After 24 hours it’s on there to stay. The sights work great. Thanks 👍👍👍👍👍
Right on man! I have been considering a fiber optic, but havnt gotten around to it.
100% bad ass I love it. I been looking for a single shot shotgun for my truck survival kit. And it's perfect for what I been looking for. Thanks for posting. 👍☺🇺🇸
no problem! Thanks for watching!
Great video. I liked it so much I ordered and received my own Midland 18.5” 410 shotgun and few days ago. I already purchased three 410 shotgun adapters previously from Short Lane. The only problem with the adapters is they are all smooth bore. They work fine but it would be outstanding if I could turn them into tack drivers like you have with your 12 gauge Midland shotgun. You have gone the extra mile and have turned your stuff into tack drivers shotguns.
A few days ago I send Short Lane Arms an email and asked them if they would consider making some 410 rifled adapters. Short Lane responded the next day and said they would consider making them if the demand was great enough. I think having 410 rifled adapters would be fantastic and ask you if the next time you talk to Short Lane see if they would consider making a few. And, if any one else in the Utube audience thinks 410 rifled adapters is a good idea give them a call or send them a email..
Keep up the great videos, I drop everything when I see a new one come out. 👍👍👍👍👍
What is the use for the shotgun adapters?
Dr. Kaufmann -it allows you to shoot many different calibers from one gun. ie,
410 shotgun
22 long rifle
9mm
38 special
Etc
@@onedogbowen I found the web site and the adapters, how complicated is to install the adapter? When you say smooth bore, what you mean?
Good video. Too bad the bead came off but you still done just fine without it. Thanks for showing us this little shotty.
Buffalo's Outdoors I sent them the video, I have a bead on the way tomorrow :) thanks for checking it out man
Great video! Really nice to see yet another example of the fine QC gun manufacturers practice today. Yesterday, I lost my bead off a blackpowder revolver.
Pigdoc1 I try and make it a habit to lock tight any scope mount screws or sights when I get a new firearm.
I learned from someone that went and had a gun fit to them, that when you pattern, you should start low and swing up to the target, touch the shot off right as you get to it, so it simulates a moving target. That way you're relaxed like you would be when actually shooting, not tensed up because you're trying to hold on target.
Duly noted. I've little experience with shotgun. My comfort zone is with a rifle. But i practice that same technique with a rifle. However, when trying to show accuracy in a firearm, i try and hold steady to eliminate any movement for the audience.
Wow, great video as usual. If they are going to do multi caliber barrels for the same host receiver sales are going to skyrocket. Heck I know I definitely am in.
i fairly certain you're on the money right there. .. thanks for watching!
Great review thanks, seems like they should put an ejector on it.
Hi. I have a Boito .410 Snake Pistol and it is very compact. Enjoy it immensely. It is a take anywhere gun and works well with all loads.
Thanks for your review
Dude, that little 22lr adapter is sweet!
That Girl can shoot ! South Paw too, Excellent !
shes a spitfire. Gonna keep me on my toes
Sounds like a great little option.
mark3smle it’s not bad at all! Can’t wait for the new barrels
Neat little gun. Thanks for showing us
Graham Baates right on man, thanks for checking it out!
Very cool little backpack gun.
David Bennett for sure!
Good deal, nice looking shotgun! 357 would be nice!
Oh yeah!
Sold out until spring 2021.
Yeah buddy. I can’t wait for center fire
same here!
Nice review. Don't have a Midland yet, but a do have a Hatfield 20 gauge youth SGL I've been playing with, and it's a fun gun. Love that I can fold it and fit in a pack.
thanks man! I have the midland as well. Its serves it purpose!
410 if you can find the expensive 410 ammo. 12 ga is better and you can use an adapter for the kids.
Awesome little gun thanks
thanks for watching!
Try Federal's 3-inch #4 Buck load (NOT to be confused with #4 Birdshot) I think you'll like it
thanks, ill have to check that out!
I have the 12 gauge version kicks like a mule but fun
44 Magnum with a threaded barrel for a suppressor! Please!
RyeOnHam yep!
RyeOnHam that would be awesome!
Nice testing as great gun for the youth to grow into as fun as a survival rifle....Good stuff....
My little girl loves it! Thank for the continued support!
If they do 357 it needs to be max pressure rated so one can use the hottest 357 out there
That what makes 357mag a glorious pistol round.
@@ZRUSOutdoorsChannel if they make a 357 I will buy one, maybe two.
Might even add a 12 guage to use all my short lane adapters, including the very limited rifle caliber ones I have that are no longer made.
I havnt heard anything about the new barrels just yet.. but they did say "late 2018" so we shall see.
@@ZRUSOutdoorsChannel I'll be impatiently waiting for the whole crew of them to come out of the woodworks
If its made to go on a 12 gauge action it should be thick enough of a barrel
I have a FedArm SS-12, which is a lot like this, same design and the bead comes loose every once in a while
If you do actually install a new bead yourself, I'd be interested in which sight you choose and how you proceed with the installation. I have enjoyed all your videos.
.357 with a red dot would be awesome!!
red dot or irons on a 16 inch barrel!
#1 great vid keep up the good work
Thank you Jered!!
I bought a gun nearly identical , same design but with wood stock and barrel has a rib. When you mount a 410 barrel on a 12ga frame it's going to be hard to hit any game. If you point with the bead your going to shoot high. With the rib on my shotgun I'm sighting on the same plain as the barrel in relation to the frame.
Nice little tool dude!
thanks man! Its a sweet shooter!
Que legal meu amigo Deus abençõe você sempre um ótimo cidadão muita saúde muitos anos de vida.
Meu amigo, torce pela sua saúde !!
Great vid, glad to see a single shot platform take off, im sure you'll update us on the service you get concerning the front bead
MCK got a new bead on the way from them!
Thanks...
Yeah, I want one in 357 mag and one in 300 blk with iron sights.
Prepare2Survive see, now you’re on to something
300 blk might blow the lock mechanism
Douglas, No, 300 blk should be fine. I have an H&R single shot in 300 blk. They have made break action single shot rifles in much bigger calibers like 35 whelen with no problems.
The bead sight flew off my 410 Backpacker. I was shooting 2.5 inch Winchester slugs, on the second shot the sight was gone.
I had this shotty for one week when this happened. I emailed Midland Arms, describing what happened and asked them to supply me with replacement beads, but still a great !ittle 410.
John McKay got my new bead in, gonna have to locktite it.. I still think a fiber optic bead is due for this gun, it’s a fun little shooter
Make sure the bead doesn't protrude into the barrel. Is bead threaded into the barrel? It may seem to shoot high due to barrel taper. Maybe a fiber optic front sight could balance out the taper.
Great video!
I'd get the 12ga/18.5" barrel version and a couple extra choke tubes. Then buy a .44mag barrel, which I assume would have iron sights....👍😺
Dont forget 22lr.
It would be great to see a 22lr, 22mag, 17hmr, 5.7/28 :-), 9mm and 38/357 barrels with rail attachment for a small red dot.
zooknut yep, although, I would love a set of iron sights on them
I would get a 20ga as I have 410 tubes for one.
I don’t think your supposed to shoot a slug thru a choked barrel. Just a cylinder bore.
I've been considering one of these.
its a good little gun!
Great video. I just love the Midland Product line. In fact in 2018 I purchased two shotguns; one In 12
gauge and one in 410.
Over the last few years I have been tried to get my hands on the additional rimfire and centerfire barrels to no avail. Ever time I log on to the Midland web site the additional product lines are blank. So I decided to send them an email and ask what going on. On 7/6/2020 I received an answer. Please see below:
From Midland on 7/6/2020
There are issues with the factory getting the proper license from the Turkish Government to manufacture the centerfire and rimfire barrels. They continue to work on this issue, but until we receive information from Khan, then we will be better to update our customers.
We certainly regret this delay
Midland Arms Co.
George Bowen interesting.. I thought for sure they had keystone lined up to produce the barrels.
I want iron sights too, but I also want a scope mount with them. The Midland series is really about giving us the option to choose what works best for the shooter, so there's no reason not to.
What I see the Midland being is a cheaper "Scout rifle" compared to a bolt action. .223 and 7.62x39 barrels are planned, so they would make great backup rifles to the AR and AK.
I'm pretty much going to be buying every extra centerfire barrel that Midland makes. .22 is nice, but I have enough rimfires laying around. Unless it was .22 Magnum, then I'd get that. Midland needs to get the ball rolling on the barrels.
Dick Tickles absolutely! I sent them an email asking about the rimfire and centerfire barrels.. see what they say
I'm going to have to look into all of these little single shooters.
@@ZRUSOutdoorsChannel have you heard anything about the other barrels?
Love my 12 gauge...waiting on extra barrels to hit the market. Let us know when!
TheGsellers yes sir! You know it!!
I would love to get one Plus a 22 cal barrel.
I think that would be nice survival gun
Short lane needs to make a 22lr, 22 mag 8 inch rifled adaptors.
they do... Im editing a video as we speak on this subject.
Thank you for this great review! It would be cool if you did an updated video with the new bead. Question: Since it is a .410, could you also shoot .45LC from it?
I definitly have another video coming with this gun. But as for 45LC through it, im not really sure on that.
I shot 44 specials through my 410 as a teenager in the 70's
Update video is live! thanks for the video suggestion! ua-cam.com/video/ITexKo9C70Q/v-deo.html
Thank you for your reply.
Cool video man 👍🏻
EagleKillsGoat thanks!
If you had adjusted your aim more toward the feet of the Squirrel you would have painted him with the pallets.
I have been looking for the Midlands and still have not seen one in a local store. I have an H&R 357 but it came with a heavy barrel and no sights.
you have to check gunshops.. I doubt any box store has em in. Your local gunstore should should have at least one of their 4 distributors in their books.
Kool deal !! 👍 😯
Very Good Review, I have to look into one of these.. Do I need it, Hmmmm.. YEP
olenick 7734 lol that’s about right.
Try n.o 4 in 3 inch .
Can this shotgun fire the 45lc?
Cool video men
thank you!
Had a similar shotgun back on the 80s , it was a 410/45 acp.
Will this one shoot .45 ?
im not sure on that one..
I learned to shoot without a bead when I was 7 I'm 37 now and they just get in the way if you know how to shoot
Oh and I shoot with both eyes open you want to see everything don't you ?
Can you share some tips with a beginner?
Not having the bead would mess with me,.. What's the deal with that? Need some locktite? Maybe Midland should address that
Bobby Brown pretty sure the slug kicked it out.. not sure if it was lose or what, looks like the threads are still there.. prolly just worked it’s way out.. I have about 75 rounds through this gun
neat! i like it!!
👍
Thank you for watching!
ZRUS Outdoors Channel my pleasure
I see I should have read some of the comments before writing my own.
ha! no worries!
Choke is fixed? Not interchangeable?
OTR Adventures correct
I've been looking around my town for one of these and I can't seem to find one anywhere. I also have had one gun shop tell me that they've had nothing but problems with them. I have yet to hear anyone else who have had any problems. Could you give any insight on that by chance?
I have both the 12ga and the 410, both have been great.. Only issue i had was with the 410, If i didnt close it hard, it wouldnt fire due to the safety mechanism inside. If its not closed all the way it cant shoot. after it broke in, it was fine.
Threaded barrels for the rifle/pistol versions. Also, does this have a safety since it is not hammer fired?
yes it has a trigger block safety
Do you think that entire bead assembly will unscrew easily? Im considering taking mine off but dont want to tear it up if i decide i like it on. Did you put yours back on?
I made an update video testing various loads with this little gun, the bead stayed put after reinstalling the new one with rocktite. The bead will unscrew with a pair of pliers or a very small socket. and you can simply screw it back in if you dont like it without... I would definitely leave it in.
got one 20ga have problem mutip misse fire
Nice vid! What shell holder are you using?
standard rifle cartridge shell holder, works great for 410 as well
Good vid...but, Never understood the single shot backpack type shotgun as a pack gun in 2020. 2 many options near this price point. To combat a wild animal you have 1 shot, and if it’s a wolf, Mt lion, coyote, wild dog or boar they won’t stop to wait for you to eject, grab ammo and reload...and same for a human attack on the trail. Most people have never been in an attack situation and don’t prepare for that type adrenaline. I’d rather have a $200 Walmart 5+1 pump, a $150 SCCY 9mm, $170 6 shot RockIsland 38special or even a $180 10/22 takedown before this on a trail adventure or truck b4 this. IMO
very true statement... however, where is your primal sense of adventure.? After your one shot doesnt take out the threat, you can hold your single shot at the barrel like a club and then its a primal fight for life to the bitter end!! "batter up!!" lol but seriously... I think the single shot just has a certain appeal, and some what of a strong following, being affordable, simple and versatile.
ZRUS Outdoors Channel 😂
I purchased a small .410 18.5 Midland and it has a fixed choke but it does not say if it is cylinder bore or full or what it is. Do you know what fixed choke type those are?
Lowland Raised the barrels are smooth bore (no rifling). The choke on the current 18.5in barrel is a modified choke
@@ZRUSOutdoorsChannel Thanks so much buddy! I was worried it was full choke and firing slugs out might be too constrictive for mine. I appreciate it and great stuff keep it up.
Lowland Raised anytime, man. Thanks for checking out the video!
Snake charmer
No more handi rifles?? Noooooo!
Did he lose the bead? Not sure.
Midland Arms promptly replaced our bead, and we are back in the game!
Don't like the ideal of no ejector. Slows down on reloading next round.jmo..
this is true, however, its a really crappy feeling when an ejector goes out, leaving the shell stuck in the chamber. never have that problem with an extractor.
Como.pdria.conpar.una.de.esas.para
Mi.soi.de.espeña
Has anyone seen a case/bag for these and similar? My pieces are 18 in each and the smallest case i can find is 29 inch which is too big.
tennis racket case.. this shotgun also fits into any 19inch backpack.
@@cvcoco haha, gotta love it!
Why are you leaving your trash (shell casings) on the ground...take your trash with you
lol i did, this isnt my property and i wouldnt be allowed to use it if i didnt clean up after myself. It would make for a boring video watching me clean up after each shot.
First
haha right on man!
What kind of saddle on the stock? Where can i buy one?
its just a rifle shell holder, they can be found at any sporting good stores and walmart, amazon, ebay.. just about anywhere.
WERE IS THE SAFTY ON THIS THING AT ?
on the trigger housing. its a trigger block safety.
Where did you buy it from?
Michael Nichols midland sent this one to me, but you can buy them from any gun shops that purchase from their 4 distributors.. most gun shops is at least 2 of them
0:45 Or you can take them off and paint them yourself.
My bead fell out. That is a good sign as to what to expect as far as quality. Not likely to outlive the owner. Booooo. Dont really need a bead hmmm. Shotguns have had a front bead since their inception. I think you need a bead.
