Hi Ryan, I've just come across your channel. Congrats on the 65 half marathon in tough weather conditions! It must have been a good confidence boost before moving onto a marathon training block!
I ran Larne that day ,not ideal conditions but a good test .I was only back training for a month after 177 days off with a femur stress fracture. I only managed 1.29.01 which is 7 minutes off pb pace (I'm 63) You ran solid considering you were out on your own with the wind on the return leg. Great content on your channel keep up the good work
That’s really impressive running, especially after such a long time off. Did you manage to get a lot of cross training done? Yeah I felt strong and can hopefully keep moving forward. Thank you!
@@Ryan.Thomson Yes I was lucky to keep fitness up with some bike as it wasn't bearing weight.Ive targeted Edinburgh in May for a 2.50 to Aim high>Good luck with the training and the new coach
@@gloriab7801 I’d taken a lot of confidence from the training I’d done in them and try not to approach racing any differently. Will definitely get a new pair just before my next marathon though.
Yeah I would definitely recommend it. It's fairly flat and the views are beautiful (if you have the energy to take them in). The only issue, as with this day and any coastal race, is that it can get pretty windy
Thanks! I run upwards of 130 miles per week and got covid the one time I didn't wear a mask on a plane post 2020 so wearing one feels like a small sacrifice compared to the training and money I put into running my best marathon
My takeaways: - Second half looked horrible - Looks like you ran a nicely controlled race - Excellent censorship at 08:00 - These Joma shorts are flappy AF arent they. I hate shorts like that, saw you getting Marilyn Monroe'd there in that still -Looks like some contrast to Font Romeau 🌧️☀️😮
- It was tough but this whole summer in Glasgow has been the same - That was always the plan. I've been holding back in the first half of sessions recently and it's been working - 😂 Lesson learned. Always give the lens a wipe before filming something important - The material felt like boxing shorts which I hated when I seen them but they were actually good and I don't remember noticing them - Last year was 95% sun so more of the same hopefully Appreciate you watching closely enough to have so many takeaways!

Definitely! Especially so soon after a 10K race that didn’t go my way. Things look to be moving in the right direction!

Love your very relaxed attitude to your bruised & battered shoes.

Would you recommend this half course, it looks flat ish? Well done on that amazing time

@Ryan.Thomson ya headwind can be worse than a hill i find
It’s usually just about relaxing and trying to find someone big to run behind! Haha
@@Ryan.Thomson harder the faster you get😅
Haha yeah, luckily Antrim gets very strong and deep fields!
Great time! Sorry the NI weather was so brutal! =D
Thank you! Haha, I think I was able to handle it better than most. Just a normal summers day for me 😂
my fast king
No, you’re the fast king around here
Commendable effort, but what's with the face nappy on the plane?
