Bill Bird shows how to use the bandsaw to refine the last, using the blade to carve detail.
• Marking the axis on the last
• Removing the wood from the quarters
• Skimming the crown of the range
• Roughing out the heel shape
• Scooping out over the instep

Awesome video. I have a very large big toe, that angles inward on both feet.....so I'm never happy with off the shelf footwear. I'm learning to build boots so I can have custom fit boots and shoes ( I'm a chronic do it yourself-er). Your demo on building lasts was a great vid!

While making my first pair of lasts, sometimes using a band saw, I figured it would go quickly, the way Bill is showing. Three weeks later ... (!) I was still removing wood
