I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that the bugs have an arbitrary destruction quota to fill, which explains why they end up doing about the same amount of damage. Once they hit the required amount of destroyed objects, they're done I think.
Before making this I looked around for something like that, but I was unable to hunt anything down official. It would be a cool feature though, to help keep bases from being obliterated.
mushroom bricks go with feather roof not punecone.
Part of why weed base lost more was it had a roof and it had all enemies right at start. grass you only had a black widow for a period of time (unless you restarted, in which case its just the more items to be lost)
I wasn't too worried about the roofs, they were mostly just for looks, and the single widow was just for fun. Trying to get it all right, I did multiple takes with lots of different bugs, and all the results were similar. I just used the spiders for the YT cut.

Last night my transportation tower got decimated by a mosquito raid, such a bummer. I swear I was on top of the timer w my waft emitter as per your previous video but I hyper focused on a build and must have lost track of the days. It wasn’t until it was too late did I think to load a previous save to prepare. Do you have any tips on defending tall structures from flying raids?
Ouch, sorry to hear that! it's never fun having a base destroyed. The rage gauges can be tricky since they aren't visible in game. If you are doing lots of bug squashing, you may want to try using the waft more often.
I love the grounded vids. Are you interested in showing other player’s mega builds for your channel?
I haven't really thought about it, I guess it's not completely off of the table though.

My next video in the Beginners Guide series will be about building a base. It wont be as big as the one in my Mega Base video but the concept is the same.
