The closest thing that I have ridden in to this was my friends 2nd gen AWD Talon in college which was 450-500 HP..it's was a good enough lesson in turbo for me. I couldn't imagine trying to keep a supra straight. I will never forget the first time hearing the turbo spool and getting shoved back into the seat, coming from a American Muscle car upbringing, this was like some sort of space magic.
My buddy has a Street legal 1998 supra that does sub 10 second quarters :) he's sitting around 1048hp... 88mm turbo, stroked 3.4l... and that's with the factory 6speed and stock rear end

Exactly right. My car is no drag racer, maybe 240 hp 235 tq on good gas, but a flat 6 NA, AWD 5 speed manual and an lsd+ a ton of other stiffening stuff and I do 0-60 in sub 3 seconds. Sure it tops out at 160kph but at a stop light I would blow the doors off this guy. Crazy power is fun to tear through tires with but unless you're doing 100+ already it's practically useless.

Everybody likes to talk shit but doesn't seem to understand much at all. A) Traction in a 1000hp car is going to be much more of a struggle than your little 150hp Honda. The surface was completely unprepped. Who knows, he could've had a firmer compound tire on because he dailies it or something. I didn't think that traction was half bad for an unprepped surface. B) He was on the rumble strip for like 2 seconds, chill. I doubt he even realized it. He was probably checking his mirrors to make sure his buddy filming was behind him and ready, and that there were no police around. If you've got money for a 1000hp Supra, you have money for tires. Everybody likes to talk shit but doesn't seem to understand much at all.
A) Traction in a 1000hp car is going to be much more of a struggle than your little 150hp Honda. The surface was completely unprepped. Who knows, he could've had a firmer compound tire on because he dailies it or something. I didn't think that traction was half bad for an unprepped surface.
B) He was on the rumble strip for like 2 seconds, chill. I doubt he even realized it. He was probably checking his mirrors to make sure his buddy filming was behind him and ready, and that there were no police around. If you've got money for a 1000hp Supra, you have money for tires. I think he'll be alright dealing with the minimal amount of extra tire wear that caused.
