Thanks for the video! I’m looking to get the Olympus, trying to decide between the XZ-1 and XZ-2. To CCD or to not CCD, that is the question! I have plenty of CCD cameras right now, so I feel I should go with the 2 because of the advancements in focus points and the better or newer tech. They cost about the same. Any thoughts?
Myself I would almost always pick the newer one but I don't know what the XZ1 is like so I couldn't discount the older camera, newer is generally better but not 100% of the time. Go with your gut feeling. Cheers.
They are quite chonky for how small their sensors are. Even for 2012 there were interchangeable lens bodies that were as or more compact. The olympus pen 3 (2011) was pretty much the exact same dimensions with a m43 sensor and Sony's Nex5 and Nex 3 lines were smaller whilst having apsc sensor. With the more compact kit lens, both the pen and nex camera can compete on portability even once lensed up. the nex 5r in 2012 also had phase detect.
Yes you are right in that, they are big cameras for the size of the sensor they have in them. At least they aren't too tiny though like some point and shoot cams from that era or earlier, they have good image quality though. Cheers.
@@pictureworldphotography What's odd is that Olympus and Samsung in this period were the ones (alongside Sony) pushing tiny interchangeable lens cameras with large sensors.
@@JimIBobIJones I guess different cameras for different users, some want the ability to change lenses and be more creative with that and some are happy to have one camera just to take snapshots etc without the hassle of thinking about what lens should I use for different subjects. Different strokes for different folks . Cheers.
I own the XZ2 so, I am probably biased and do like the colours of the XZ2 just like you a bit more. I do think these are both very nice and useful cameras (the EX2F has been on my list as well). I compared the XZ2 to the Canon G7 X which I own as well. The G7 X has the larger sensor and I thought it would blow the XZ2 out of the water but almost the opposite happened. The image quality is about the same (even in low light!), but the colours of the G7 X are awful compared to the XZ2. Moreover the XZ2 is just much easier to use in practice and has a lot more useful features. Thanks for the comparison. That was useful to me.
That's surprising about the canon G7X, 1 inch sensor compared to a 1/1.7 inch sensor I would have thought the Canon would've come out on top. I'm glad you liked the video. Cheers.
Depends which camera you're talking about. The Samsung you could use to Vlog with but there are far better options out there than a 12 year old camera, the Olympus I find has better colour but you can't frame yourself in the monitor as it only flips up not out to the side like the Samsung does. If one of these is all you have then you can get by but there will not be much in the way of settings for either camera to adjust for video, remember these are 12 year old cameras with limited video recording. My suggestion is to try it out and play it back on your computer to see whether the quality up what you consider good enough for your channel, remembering that UA-cam compression on low bitrate video isn't the best, 1080p is the best you will get out of either camera. Sorry for the long answer, hope this helps. Cheers.
For the Olympus XZ2 the manual says 1/180sec with an external flash, I've read info saying the built in flash will sync up to the camera's top speed of 1/2000sec but I can't confirm that. The Samsung EX2F, I was unable to find any info on using external flashes with the camera, sorry. I also don't own the cameras anymore so unable to test them. Cheers.
@pictureworldphotography thank you for the quick reply. I'm on a quest to find the best camera to beat the sun! So far it's been the Casio ex-z750 and the Nikon d70s.
Yes you are correct, but as of this now they are both sold. There are a lot of older cameras that people have forgotten about because the latest and greatest has come out and so these older models just get forgotten, but they are still great cameras. Thanks for your comment. Cheers.

@Bigfarmer8 What is the fastest flash sync speed at widest apeture?
Hi. I’m a UA-camr and I got gifted this camera. Would you recommend I use it for vlogs? And what settings would you recommend
