There are also different types of chromatic button accordion, for example B system and C system, and the way that freebass works on each of those is reversed.
I switched from piano accordion to C system when I got interested in freebass because it made sense to me to learn both at the same time as they are so similar. Never looked back. I’d say I find improvising and playing by ear are easier on chromatic accordion because intervals are all the same, but reading standard notation is easier on piano accordion (at least for the treble!) because a piano keyboard matches the musical stave exactly. If I have a tough sight-reading job that requires standard bass accompaniment, I might still find it easier on the piano accordion after 8 years on buttons!
There are also different sized buttons on the two accordions I use, so I can stretch slightly bigger intervals on one.
At the end of the day it’s about the music you make. And Guy is at the top of that game! There’s always a way if you concentrate on that.

Imho 00:52...EDM accordion with an electric accordion free bass system custom sounds, progressive house or electro house trance. Hardstyle? Theres a band called Infected Mushroom who plays EDM live. I'll ask if they know how to play accordion.

You are a great player, obviously. However a piano accordion is also a chromatic accordion. Button accordions can be either chromatic or diatonic. You may not enjoy the traditional jazz accordion music but I never tire of players like Art van Damme and Johnny Meijer who are the most creative players I` ve ever heard.

delloso To be more precise, he should've said "chromatic button accordion" because, yes, the piano keyboard can obviously play chromatic music. It's a shorthand term.

@@auclan Steve is right, my apologies for not being more exact in my terminology. But here in North America, when we say "chromatic accordion," we are talking referring to the chromatic button accordion. Of course I am aware that the piano accordion is chromatic,. It's a difference in terminology in how the instrument is referred to in different parts of the world. When we here speak of a non-chromatic SYSTEM of accordion, we call it a "diatonic" accordion. Otherwise, we refer to piano accordion and chromatic accordion to differentiate the type of keyboard in the right hand. Sorry for the confusion.

I DO enjoy jazz accordion--what I was trying to say is that I would rather hear music that I enjoy played on any instrument than hearing music I have no interest in played on accordion. I love Richard Galliano, Frank Marocco, Otto Lechner, Gary Versace (with Maria Schneider Orchestra), Jean-Francois Baez, and many others.
