- Now that the rear spring, control arms, and shocks are in from the Iron rock Off road kit it is time to upgrade the rear sway bar. I bought an Addco Heavy Duty rear sway bar from Iron rock Off Road and will be installing it. Stay tuned for more to come! -Enjoy!

Addco sway bars are excellent and I'm not just saying that because I'm sitting next to the man who started the company right now.
Put a set of Stock Dorman Rear Leafs in my XJ 3 Yr's ago and the pair are still in great shape. No broken Leafs and the Jeep is still sitting higher then it ever did.
I like to see the progress on the WJ. It's sweet to see how easy things are coming apart and back together, as there is no rust to battle with. #toys!
Cuba Rodriguez it's always easy to put something together without rust
Loved your Kia video. You should be in front of the camera more.
I love seeing this dude come together!
wyattoneable
I think he is going to make it
AlwaysChristian
Yes sir
I think he has a different path 😀
Yeah, SMA is becoming my go to for my JGC
Looking forward to the locker install. Hopefully with a new carrier, I'd love to see the SMA way of setting up gears!
I'm guessing just like everyone else, lots of cussing getting it right lol.
Good Job Eric as always...
An important upgrade. Nice job and thanks Dr. O!
Your going to have to start a south main off-road channel. Looking forward to some videos of this rig going trailing!
The A/C guy Exactly. South Main Ranch, South Main Auto, South Main Beyond for road trips. It could get busy.
I like this series. I got a 03 WJ!
Eric is a god. The all ever knowing.
I know you're a busy guy but can't wait till you get this thing finished
Wonderful job Eric 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks, Mr. O.
Yes so excited for a new episode!!!!!
You was right what you said before Eric. I can tell you are not into working on your own vehicle as much as someone else's. I'm the same way though. Still did a great job.
Have an 03 blazer zr2. Has factory bilstien shocks. I love em. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Sir for the 11 minutes of awesomeness !!
keep a close eye on the upper unibody mounting areas eric. they are prone to flexing and breaking out up there. now get the front bar and replace that cheesy hollow one up there.it will corner very well after doing this to it.
" Blood Well Done " Cheers from San Francisco.
All the comments about the shocks....Bilsteins are to be mounted with the labeling upright in a readable position, he has them right. One of the best things you can do for the ride BTW, along with the Addco bar. I have a 3" lift on my 04 WJ with the Addco bar, Bilsteins and Iron Rock springs, handles MUCH better than stock ever did.
Will be eagerly awaiting the video of the locker fitment.
Did the same upgrade to my 01 Grand Cherokee 4.7 and it was worth every penny. Cut the body roll down a lot. I'm surprised they use such a small diameter sway bar from the factory.
Great video Eric glad to see you back on the Jeep project.Until next time PEACE.
Best mod for a wj
Looking Good
Good work!
Wrap the sway bar with a couple wraps of teflon tape. It'll stop the sway bar from squelching with polyurethane bushings. Lubricants eventually will get pushed out.
Looks like you are
Jeepin right A long old boy 💲
I have the 5100s on my Sierra & that is how I have mine installed. The lable should not be upside down when reading it. I’ve heard that you can have the boot on top, but the shock may not last as long.
they have "inverted" and "standard" direction shocks. those are inverted models. having any shock the wrong way will make the valving work wrong ( the rebound and compression are at different rates), also the gas charge will be at/in the valving and mixing with the oil into a further frothy useless mess. lesson here? Always make sure shocks/struts are mounted the right direction or they will not work right and likely get damaged! ;)
I missed this part onward , hospitalized, while resting, I found back. Very well build, normal simple efficient upgrade, really satisfied your 12 year dream, whole family will love it. Going for whole week long bush camping yet ?
Nice vid “bro”
Gettin closer.... that bad boy is gonna rock.......(pun intended)😜
Thanks for the video.
Great job
Nice video eric o looking good on the jeep
Another awsum clip.
You took the sway out of that rear end but we can still appreciate the view from behind. :-)
Nice video sir!!
No Dorman parts for this baby! 😉
Niamh Healy THANK GOD NO DORMAN CRAP!!!!!!!!
Niamh Healy yeah, I think he wants it to survive the off roading, or heck, even the regular street driving. Lol
Until he gets to that brake fitting on the axle he showed....Dorman makes an extended one , I used one on my Cherokee , you can't avoid it!
That will be interesting! 😂
Well I'm sure super O could just make one, but us laymen had to buy one. It actually wasn't a bad part, but I did just yesterday buy a Dorman radiator drain plug...... Hole in it. Sprayed coolant everywhere. Of course it did. True story 🤣🤣🤣
You cannot drive that thing in the winter!! It's too nice! If you do, you must engage 4x4, and drive though a 7,000 gallon pit of FLUID FILM first, right up mid-door level - just be sure to run a case of brake clean over those pads/rotors & shoes/drums afterwards, to avoid the surprise. 😁
That thing's gonna be a mean machine when it's done! I can see it now! 👍👍
mall crawler in the making ;)
plus he's getting old =p
anti/never seize with no gloves¿¿ you're doomed.
Another great vid Mr. O!
Hope the sway bar helps with the death wobble....!
SuperDave21 wrong end of the vehicle buddy
You don't think improvements to the rear affects the front suspension workings?
tire sidewall roll and rear end wobble is a key factor in the front flailing about :)
Eric, I just hope all the expense and effort results in a car that you enjoy driving. My gut feeling is that the increase in the centre of gravity relative to the roll centres necessary to achieve the extra ground clearance will compromise the handling and road holding especially when cornering. I am interested to know how all this turns out.
You must be lost without the usual rust! Lol
Gotta smash that like button before I even watch. Say good night to the chilluns for me!
you do know when you are done we'll need a good off roading video to see if its all show or if its really a go
One more step!
Fucking right man, “excited” to see the next video on this project
FINALLY
I should do this to my 03 Camry!!
Yo that fluid film stuff STINKS!!
I hope u make a vid of that beast in action
Look in good Eric O. Did you get your tires yet?
wow you actually put the bolt in the right sight on the sway bar link AMAZING Can tell youre not an engineer lol
Swaybar should not be tightened up with no weight on suspension actually the full weight should be on suspension
Cool!!
Thanks!
Get rid of those tin diff. covers when you install lockers, that cheap ass rubber plug that almost always seems to weep.
I have greaseable front sway bar saddles, came from Kevins off road I think. BTF diff. covers look nice but be sure to use SS bolts/allen head hardware
I had the same problem.
When's the frontend getting done?
love the vids, so informative, been wondering on the shock relocation. do you have a vid on that?
Remember, a hole is just the beggining of a slot lol
Have you considered limiter straps so you don/t blow the seals out of the Bilsteins?
Hi Eric
Did I miss an exhaust upgrade the pipes look brand new?
Ok, so the plot thickens.... on another video you complained about not being able to dial out handling issues, but: if you had to fiddle about to get the rear sway bar in at full stretch (car hanging up in the air), what's to say things aren't binding up on you with the car down on the ground because you snugged stuff up at almost full droop either end.
How about just loosening off the whole setup, then doing things back up when the suspension is actually bearing the weight of the car? -that might do something for you.
Do you think it would of been beneficial to use grade 8 bolts there?
Do you know if those springs fit a Toyota rav4 the inside diameter on my rav4 are 2.5" on the ends of the coil and 12" in total length
I just bought an 03 Jeep Grand Cherokee, not sure if I will want to off road but I may, nothing crazy though. So my question is I have sway in the rear when driving, it has a 2" lift. Sould I buy off road or oem? I here the axel needs to be new oil every 12 thousand miles that seems excessive.
Hey Eric O! I saw your comment on the launch pros mini video earlier today. I replied to your comment, and said I was looking forward to seeing more videos on the Jeep. In your comment on that video you said you owned the same model launch, but I thought the model you had was the diagun iv. Who knows maybe you have both! Haven't seen you use a pros mini on the channel yet though. I was really wondering if it was worth the extra $300 for the pros mini, or if the diagun iv has the same features. If you know I'd really love to get your opinion on it cause I can't decide what model I want. Mostly because I'm not sure if the pros mini is worth the extra money or not. If anybody else that might know has any suggestions I'd love some opinions on it. I've never used either one. The only high end scan tool I've used has been a Tech 2.
The Addco sway bar came with brackets & bushings ?
never saw you do the front end
probably didn't do the front yet and is mixing the videos in here and there to not become "ETCG fairmont channel" or in this case "SMA the jeep channel"
So do u have a lift? Also did u have to buy extended sway bar links to keep your sway bar from binding up?
Hey Eric, what exhaust is on the Jeep?
How much is the cost of all the pieces that have been installed??
You have a home? 😆
is that earthquake impact still doin good?
How did you make out w/ the driveability problems?
He found a bad ball joint.
Will you planning up grade drive line as it weak point
did you get replacement tie rod ends?
Rear diff flush and fill first?
he has a locker/carrier coming, so the rear will be taken apart at some point in the build
Did you fix that wobble issue when you driving
after putting in your axles.
What is the purpose of put in your shocks upside down
Do I need longer links if i have a 2 inch rise?
What rear rear axle is that?It sure aint no dana 35....
Why are the shocks upside down?
So did you fix the suspension form the over correction
improve articulation and then defeat articulation. must be some happy medium somewhere.
NebukedNezzer just disconnect on the trail for all the articulation.
You know what is missing BRAKE CLEANER lmao
Peace out!
Hey kids, wanna go for a ride?😎 Loljk
What happened to the jeep , where is it ?
Actually your shocks are the right way upside down Bilstein told me, when I bought their shocks that they are mounted with the label right side up, some of their shocks are suppose to me mounted upside down, some right side up,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Same thing they told me :0
ill put this here also :)
they have "inverted" and "standard" direction shocks. those are inverted models. having any shock the wrong way will make the valving work wrong ( the rebound and compression are at different rates), also the gas charge will be at/in the valving and mixing with the oil into a further frothy useless mess. lesson here? Always make sure shocks/struts are mounted the right direction or they will not work right and likely get damaged! ;)
Labels up folks, cant miss with that one.............
What are the Torque Specs HAHA!!
Hey guys I thought this might be a decent time to ask since it's a Jeep video. But I just recently inherited a 02 cherokee 4.0. It has a loud growling noise coming from the front axle. It sounds dead center. Like a bearing or something metal on metal. I changed the diff fluid to no avail. Could it be the pinion bearing or something and is it common for the bearings in there to go bad? I believe it's a dana 30.
if the sound is steady and doesn't change on or off the gas, then probably a front wheel bearing/hub, it;s hard to tell on them the way the noise radiates.
jack the whole thing up, put on jack stands, put in 4WD start, put in gear and run it, you can usually hear where the noise is coming from much better maybe have someone rev it up some to keep it at higher "speed". wheel bearing is a constant airplane like noise, louder and higher pitch with speed.
think those are known for the transfer case end of front drive shaft cv also. but that's usually a squeak/vibration more felt through the seat.
I can't believe how much money you are putting into this thing.
Why
Nice upgrades, however,
I never use anti-seize on the bolt going thru the bushings.
I prefer to use high temp caliper grease.
Anti-seize transmits noise, as it contains metals.
I do use anti-seize on the threads though.
You didn't say why the shocks are that way?
They’re Australian shocks.
So the oil drains out faster! :P
Reduces unsprung weight.
Ryan Taylor 🤣
your jeep?
"Aftermarket crap" lol
save the old parts
