Overall good episode. Would have been killer with a 2650 and a ZL1 lid instead of the less efficient CTSV lid. With a 2650/ZL1 lid on pump this engine would probably have crested 900hp on 93 “on accident” lol

Should have put the magenson 2.3lt on it, then you will see so much charge cold air going in, instead of the 82 degrees temp, plus they dont show the temps at the manifold, which the LSA supercharger is not really efficient at all compared to the magenson IMO ? Plus they had a fan blowing at the intercooler heat exchanger and still had 82 degree hi temps? Cold air going into the combusting chamber is the key to all hp figures and the right fuel as well and proper flow in the head sure, but even stock LS7 heads will be just as good, it depends what your going to use the engine for street / drags or a every day driven car, would like to see the engine put in the Cadillac and just see what she does in the 1/4 with stock running gear ie: auto and diff gears, my guess would be around 10's if that?
You guys should do a 5.4l 3v triton motor hot rod build to show the work arounds to bullet proof and super up the engine. It is the most disliked out of the Triton because of the 3v heads.

That dowel sure didn't look long enough to keep that balancer pinned. I guess I didn't pay attention unless when Pat tightened the crank bolt the tensioner slid on another inch or so.

I’m not a big engine guy at all, but what is the difference between this 427 and the Texas Speed 427 that Cleetus runs? I know his Elco is a Dart Block but Ruby and Leroy aren’t.
Not everyone desires to have an E85 gas system. The E85 burns much quicker than 93 pump fuel, which already burns fast enough on these types of engines. I recently swapped an LSA engine into my car and made many of the same modifications shown here, along with a few that weren’t shown. I’m doing 900hp on 93 pump fuel.
Spend all that money on that motor and blower just to put inadequate 1 3/4” headers and a 4” intake on it. That wasn’t blower whine you were hearing, that was the motor screaming for help because it couldn’t breathe.
This was a pretty cool build but to be honest you could have made the same power by just doing cam and springs and upgrading the blower. This built motor with an upgraded blower would make 1200HP without breaking a sweat.
naw, maybe another 10 to 15 at most. I would check back pressure at the manifold to see if its actually a restriction. its likely not, as the difference internally between 1.75in and 2.00in is not actually that much, and not much more flow will happen.

Full potential would mean E85, and gapping the rings to suit higher boost. There are 9 second 6l90e VF hsv GTS's models (Chevy SS with a factory LSA) with stock internals in the full weight car. But E85 of course.
Way too small primary size on the headers. Big displacement and blower should be 1 7/8 in at the smallest, 2 in is the typical size used. Of course I've seen stepped headers with a 1 3/4 in section but never non stepped 1 3/4 in on a big power max effort setup.

i was just looking at a LS 7 427 at ls website over head cam quad valve running 860 hp with just fuel injection but the price was insane way to much for me for a engine. i have one question for u guys first thing a LS is a chevy or GM engine and does LS build a Big block i being told that they built a LS 6 454 bbc i thought they all ways built small block GM engines and they have their own blocks and nothing to do with chevy and was designed by leslie snoboski and introduced in 1970 for the new crate line racing engine built by GM racing division that is what i read off the LS website but everyone is telling me that is wrong that they built the LS 6 454 big block chevy and the ls 6 454 small block came out in 97 . i don't see gm calling 2 totally different engines the same thing . so does LS builds a big block chevy ls 6 454 i have 4 ho 454 450 hp at 485 torque bbc engines modeled after the 70 chevelle ss engine but it is no LS engine , i thought they had 2 454 in 1970 the chevy and the LS because for one thing they have thousands with the ls 6 454 bbc but they only built 212 with the ls 6 454 and 6 with the ls 7 427 that is what they claim on LS website
Jeffrey hollenbeck, all LS engines are small block, there is a factory 427 and LSX and dart make after market blocks that are small block 427 and 454 cu inch.

Actually the intake gaskets are held in place with pop rivets. BIG QUESTION IS , HOW MUCH IS THIS BUILD GOING TO COST ME ?
Considering that the torque peak was at 2500, and didnt go below 700 until 6k, you could use this as an engine for a truck and it would do amazing.

The depth to a degree doesn't matter as the force is rotational. But i sorta see what you mean

I worked for a well-known Caltrain company for 22 years. I have never even seen a 5/16 pushrod.

Those numbers are low. First the cam, headers and blower are to small for the 427. My stock Lsa 6.2 makes 750hp and 754 tq on a dyno jet.
I was thinking the same thing, I make close to that and I'm running a 370" with a 2.45" pulley
