Boy I'll tell you Glenn this rig is better than a Texas rig after seeing this video you did it's very universal you can do several different set ups with this rig and I knew about this rig for a long time and never thought much about it. But after seeing this video it starts giving you ideas I like it because it's something the bass don't see a lot. Leave it up to Glenn may the grandfather who first started all these videos of teaching us more about bass fishing. . I'll have to go pick up a whole bunch of weight sizes and hooks. Thanks so much Glenn for your expert input. I hope you and your wife are healthy and happy and God bless you both for starting all. Hey Glenn alot of people don't realize if you didn't start this along time ago I don't think it would be as good as it is today. I'll make sure I subscribe to your channel for the rest of my life. I've always from day one liked your channel I'll make it a point to watch as many of your videos as I can. Sincerely your pal fisherman Mike from Missouri.
@@bassresource any time Glenn you and your wife are such nice people and you guys and gal are very knowledgeable God bless you both and I subscribed to your channel last night.
Seems similiar to the Tokyo rig. Ok Glenn, I will try it. Im fixin to make my own. I have all the components I think. Thanks for the info as always. The Japanese are smart people. If they weren't I would jot own 4 Toyotas and a Honda. Lol!!!!!
I make my own with a #1169 bell sinker mold and a #3138 trolling sinker mold for the heavier punching set up. I leave out the eye in the fatter end of the mold when I pour. The result is a bottom heavy weight with the line tie at the thin end that drops and pulls right through any cover. I use these molds for my drop shot weights too. Combined, they give me from 1/8oz to 2oz of options.
Thanks Glenn. Great channel! I use the Jika rig for punching. Any mats, any grass. Milfoil is different though. I don't punch it, I use an 1/8oz bell sinker and sloooowly drag it over and through the weeds. The weight pulls the bait right down the pockets. Very snagless/weedless rig. Rocks, not so much. I Lose a lot in rocks but I usually fish a jig or Texas rig in rocks.
Love the jika rig. Also the tokyo rig they are very affective in pressured lake's here in NJ. Nobody really uses them. Thanks again Glenn love the channel, your the man. God Bless and tight lines
I agree with everything you said Glenn. That's why I never peg my worm weight 95% of the time, unless I need to. I get more strikes as well. The worm or bait glides down behind the weight. Looks like it's chasing the weight.
@@bassresource I will be making some custom Jika Rigs Glenn. I had made one last year and a Tokyo Rig. Did not get a chance to fish them much. I am in NY, mostly fish our reservoirs, which are gin clear. Thought the Tokyo rig had way too much hardware. I feel the Jika Rig would be a better choice unless I'm punching heavy vegetation.
Looks can be deceiving. The Tokyo rig is a different presentation than the Jika rig. It's more like a drop shot presentation. The Jika rig predates the Tokyo rig by a decade or more. It's slim and trim and gets through vegetation with less weight. Plus it provides that horizontal presentation mentioned in the video.
The Tokyo rig keeps the bait further off the bottom, which is useful in muddy bottoms, or areas with Zebra mussels. It's like a mini-dropshot in that it separates the bait from the bottom.

I thought I had a cheap way to make a Tokyo rig by doing this the last couple years. Now I know it’s called the Jika rig. I’m not so innovative. I think a fluke is one of the best soft plastics to use on this rig.

Japanese are smart because of Toyota and Honda ? Ummm ok.
Another great video. Glad to see this lesser known rig presented here.
More to come!
I use the Jika 100% of the time with the Bellows Gill by Geecrack and the Bullflat by Deps, very effective

Very well explained Glenn!

Try it with this rig. The weight slides WAY better than an unpegged bullet sinker, and doesn't get hung up!

So it’s a variation of a Tokyo Rig?

What’s the difference between this and a Tokyo rig.
The Tokyo rig keeps the bait further off the bottom, which is useful in muddy bottoms, or areas with Zebra mussels. It's like a mini-dropshot in that it separates the bait from the bottom.
Nice, thanks.
How is this better /worse /different from Tokyo rig? Thanks for another great tip.
