What a wonderful idea to set up pets with homes when their elderly owners aren't able to care for them. They have peace of mind and that's such a gift.
I'm pretty sure there r many such organizations like this. I think they r local tho. I learned of one here n AZ many yrs ago.

I took in a 7 year old black cat when her elderly owners both got cancer at the same time & couldn’t look after her, and my cat lived many more years with me. 🐈⬛

How could a potential adoptive home turn away Mr. Bore? He's adorable.
Many families are struggling with the recession -- it could have been a case of "hearts bigger than wallets" or perhaps they were renters who weren't allowed a cat. Whatever the reason, I'm glad he ended up with whom he was meant to be.

I understand your sentiment, but there could be all kinds of reasons that the adoption was not a good idea and many of them could have been Bo's preferences. It sounds as if he had clearly chosen his person and may not have liked the potential adoptees. They may have had other pets or small children that Bo or them clearly showed that this was not a good match. Bo is a senior cat; it would be cruel to put him into a situation that would be stressful for him. BTW, I am typing this before heading out the door to meet a senior dog I want to adopt; I hope she decides I'm her perfect human.

I so love that you took that baby in. I adopted my ex-girlfriend’s 14 yo orange and white girl kitties. She passed away and literally no one else would take them. They brought me tremendous comfort and healing through her death, and then again through the euthanasia of my angel pit bull whose time with me was way too short. These girls and I have the best relationship I’ve ever had with cats and I’ve always had cats. Bless you for the org you created and the love you have for these animals.

That's awesome. I had a cat for 23 years and she passed last year. I was heartbroken and didnt want to get a new cat for a while, I needed time to heal. About 4 months later a friend of mine who volunteers at the local shelter told me about CC. She is a 10 year old tortie who's human had recently passed and the family didnt want her so they dumped her at the shelter. This cat had been a loved house cat her whole life and for reasons she couldn't understand she went from her comfy bed to a two-per-small cage shelter. My friend told me she was a sweetheart but visibly saddened and depressed and that older cats rarely get adopted. I went down there the very next day and got her, and she is now happy, cuddly, loved and safe again. That's the cat distribution system at work.
A group near my hometown started a Seniors for Seniors initiative. They helped place senior cats with senior humans and provided all vet care. I thought it was a super idea to find homes for cats at the end of their lives with partners nearing theirs. Both have so much love to give.
I hope to see more of these intelligent initiatives.

That is a fantastic idea! Vet care costs for senior pets can be cost-prohibitive for owners, especially senior/disabled on a limited fixed income, who often have increased medical costs of their own. A program like this cover vet care removes a substantial barrier that prevents elderly/disabled people from adopting or keeping pets.

This service rocks! Senior cats suddenly without a home are largely unadoptable and this gives them a great chance to find that next forever home. Love it!

I wonder why because they're too old? It seems like an experienced older cat would be perfect, because of their mild tempers and loving nature. Older ppl usually spoil ( n sometime over feed their cats lol all love though) their cats and take good care of them.

@@juanitawashington106 The average life expectancy of a cat is like, 12-15 years iirc. So if you get a 10yo cat you might only get 2 years with it. Or even less if it has some undiagnosed disease, which cats are super good at hiding, and that can get expensive.
My 12yo cat recently had to have surgery to remove some teeth we had no idea she had issues with, it was cause of FORL which is pretty common iirc, and that cost like (roughly converted from SEK) 750 usd, and could have cost more than 2000 if more teeth needed pulling. She's also got chronic kidney problems, which is super common in cats, but we'd have never found out if I hadn't gotten worried about her loosing weight. She acts exactly the same now that she's gotten/getting treatment for it as when she wasn't.
I can't imagine going through that with a completely new (senior) cat that I just adopted. It's also harder to get pet insurance for an older cat iirc.
Maybe some people can do that. Like, people keep rodents that only live 2-3 years. But I don't think I could. Unless I like, found an abandoned elderly cat in my backyard and fell in love instantly. Or she belonged to my grandma, which actually would have happened, except my grandmas cat had a really bad stroke and had to be put down like a year or 2 before grandma started talking about moving to a retirement home.

We were lucky enough to have a popular a popular pet site feature are it sure are charity once and we got thousands of new followers on Instagram and Facebook and thousands of dollars in contributions. So again, get a life. You have literally no idea what you're talking about when you talk about pet charities. What are you gonna start an animal rescue and see how it works?

We adopted a senior that had been in shelter for over two years. She had the best years of her life before she passed. And she brought us so much love.

I adopted a 17 year old cat from my aunt when she moved. Her name was Kitty, and she hated most things, but I absolutely adored her and we had a great 3 years together. Miss you, you old fluffy butt
We had a very similar experience with our cat. Before my grandma died she was a very unapproachable and grumpy cat who wouldn't let anyone touch her. After my granny passed away we kinda made the decision to have a cat now and she has transformed into the most affectionate cat and lived until she was 16.

I have my grandfather's cat too! Her name is Catherine! She finally loves me and is getting used to our dog Mookie! My family and I were my grandfather's caretakers in his final year of life and we now live in the home he built on the street that was named after him! I grew up here and now my children will! Catherine runs this home, she is about 13-14 now and she is grumpy and lovey on her terms. We are lucky to have her!!

My grandad gave me a kitten, Lyon. He didn't adapt to my new home, and since 2011 he lived with my grandparents. They passed away, and now Lyon is turning 12 and lives his best retirement with my sister, which he loves so much! He's a little sassy sometimes, but he's a lovebug, with his extra chubby belly and his sapphire green eyes, we just love him!!!

Some how my mother knew her time was up. She had 3 cats that She adored. So to say the least She asked Me 100 times that I would make sure Her cats were going to be cared for. To make a long story short she ended up in the hospital and this was her biggest concern in fact she was more worried about her cats then herself. She did pass away and I had 4 cats of my own and took in her cats. I was able to find an amazing home for the 2 of them and kept the third till He passed away. You are 100% right how difficult this is for the elderly.

Adopted a 13 year old. Never had such a cuddler before. As soon as I sat down, he was curled in my lap. Gave him a spoiled 3 years (How many people, let alone cats have had wagyu beef?) Miss him, but happy I was able to give him the life he deserved.
I want to be able to adopt more senior pets when I'm in my own place, honestly. I want them to have a good final years, not alone in a shelter :(

Friends found my Nikki on Christmas day and I truly believe he was an angel sent to help me during some difficult times. He was around 12 years old and I only had him for 3 unforgettable years, he was the sweetest cat with so many quirky habits. When he died I was heart broken but a couple of months later he sent 3 stray homeless kittens to my house😻😻😻they are now 14 years old!!
Such a great gift you give the pets and seniors. My father passed away just before Christmas 2017. He was so worried about his 2 cats. “I suppose they’ll have to be put down” he said. Told him don’t be silly. I’ll take them. “You’ve already got 3.” So what’s 2 more? They lived with me until they passed. I know he felt better knowing his cats (especially Oscar, his special cat) were looked after. Thank you for all you do.

You are doing what my daughter would call Angel's Work. The fate of older cats who live with older folks is often sad, but if they can be connected with a new home, they can continue to be a bright spot in someone's life and get the love they have come to enjoy.🙏

I'm a home hospice rehab nursing assistant, getting to see people in the last days of their lives enjoy and cherish their pets is so very beautiful and heart breaking, they worry so much about their lives. Moreso than their own.

I can't imagine the pain of being in a position where you have to give up your beloved pet, but knowing they will be loved and cared for hopefully will help those people so much. Bless Angela for having this idea and bringing it to fruition! I cried throughout this entire video. I lost my mom to COVID during that first horrible wave that hit, and she had senior cats. I live in Germany and wasn't sure I was going to be able to adopt them and get them over here, but I did! I hadn't had pets in over 20 years, and these kitty girls have brought so much love into my home. And despite losing my mother very unexpectedly, I am able to still give her love by taking good care of the cats she loved so much. Senior cats *do* deserve a chance-- they have so much love to give! 🥰

She lived in the US and I live in Germany, so there was no way to be with her at all--even if I had lived there. I am so glad you and your husband are vaccinated and taking care of yourselves. I have found some light in this very dark situation by adopting her cats and bringing a little piece of her life into my home. Her two cats (now my two cats) are happy and healthy, and they actually just turned 11 years-old last weekend--they are sisters from the same litter. Thank you again for your kind message, and God bless you and your family as well!

My husband and I adopted our senior kitty in 2018 , at age 14. She was the grand dame of our house, spoiled and loved.
Unfortunately, she passed away in 2020 and it was heartbreaking. But I’m glad that she got to live out her last years with us and not in a shelter. Miss her so much🌸

Total respect to this lovely young woman. I was involved in TNR and cat rescue for many years. I don't know how many times an adopter changed their mind at the last minute, or even weeks after the adoption.... Argh! It takes a lot of patience and flexibility, but when you find the perfect loving home, it's such a great feeling.

I feel you. Senior animals have so much love to give, especially if they were with you a long time. I'm still recovering from the loss of my nearly 19 yr old girl last year. I had her since a kitten and I've never experienced such a deeply strong love as that bond. I wish you the best in your healing and that you can soon look back with gratitude for the time you had without the pain of the loss overshadowing it anymore. The memories gained are so precious and should be held for a lifetime.
It's been over 6 years since my 16 year old dachshund died and I think of her every day. Our other 2 died within 14 weeks of her at 14 and 15. They will forever be apart of me and my family.

After my girl of 18 years passed, I vowed to honor her by getting a black senior kitty (the least adopted cat) and hes one of the biggest loves of my life. Senior animals are so special. And 14 years is old, but cats can live into their 20s, that is many years of love left to give, and they deserve that chance at living out their days in comfort.

How could anyone change their mind on such a beautiful kitty 😭 this is honestly such a brilliant idea. I got my fluffy son after my best friend’s mom’s best friend passed away. She was so scared of not finding him a home. To this day adopting him is one of the greatest choices I’ve ever made. I hope everyone out there can experience that kind of love. These cats deserve such loving homes. Thank you for helping them and anyone who adapts them.

While my cat is still young, I have a senior chihuahua, and I wish people understood how amazing having senior animals is. Their personalities are so distinct and they bring you a special kind of love. Beautiful and amazing. Once I became an established “grown up” I adopted a shelter cat. An adult. Best cat ever. I still miss him all the time and it’s been 6 years. 😻(He got sick suddenly and vets couldn’t heal him.)

Senior animals are just the best--they are loving, patient and so happy to be loved! Plus, they are far, far past the kitten/puppy stage and usually settle in very quickly.

There's an organization like that where I live. People with terminal illnesses can sign over their pets so that they can be fostered and found new homes. I fostered three cats. The third was a twelve year old cat who was never adopted, so Buddy became mine. I had him for seven years. I now have a 14 year old cat I adopted last year. Her owner's family was going to have this beautiful healthy cat euthanized. Thankfully, the vet called the shelter I adopted her from. She talks like this one!
Bless you for giving a loving home to senior pets! 💜 That is a critical service but it’s not totally unselfish because the joy a senior animal can bring is immense! I have health issues and can’t run around and play with my two cats as much as I’d like to so down the road when I adopt again, I’ll definitely adopt an adult or senior cat, myself (I adopted my current two as babies but kittens are much easier to home; older cats need our attention).

Great idea!! I work as a caregiver, and I hear seniors all the time, commenting on how worried they are about what will happen to their pets when they can no longer do it themselves. I've even heard family members promise that they'll make sure to find the pets a good home, only to find out they dropped them at the nearest pound. Not even trying to at least find a no- kill shelter for them. That just breaks my heart... So your idea is the perfect solution to this very common problem. Tu 😇
My mom's cat is 12 or 13 and last year my mom had a huge medical issue. We realized after a month or so that she wasn't going to be home anytime soon. We did not want to surrender her cat. In the end I went up to Minnesota to see my mom and to spring muffin from boarding. And then she flew to Florida to live with me and my cat Otis. Luckily, Otis is a laid-back boy and he accepted Muffin. Muffin has adjusted very well and she even caught her first anole, so she is truly a Florida cat now!! Oh and my mom recovered!
I remember her last video, she is doing such a great thing in her grandparents honor.

Bless this woman! My in-laws are in their 80’s and about a year ago they adopted a corgi. They were stressed out about what would happen to them when they passed. Thankfully my partner and I have a home of our own and have told them that she has a home with us anytime she should need one. I hope your efforts spread across the country and that all seniors have the security of knowing that their beloved pets are safe when they can no longer care for them.
They will live longer for having it.

Thankfully, here in the UK, charities have been doing this for a while now.

There has been an organisation here in the UK that does this. I've seen ads for them for at least a decade, I'd say. It's definitely a good thing to have, especially for those who are elderly or find themselves terminally ill. My nieces are currently caring for my grandma's dog after she passed away in January, but not everybody has someone who can or is willing to do that.
I think that might be the Cinammon Trust. But also the RSPCA, Blue Cross, Cats Protection & Dog's Trust do the same I think.
My mother had to ship my grandparents two cats from North Carolina to Connecticut (not literally ship in a box obviously, but she hired a special animal transport company). They gave my Mom so much love and comfort, and in return she loved and cared for them. Their cat Missy lay beside my grandfather as his passed away, and my mother saw both cats as a living link to them. Her parents were gone, but their beloved kitties were safe with her.

I feel the same way about my late sister's middle aged cats who are now mine. They are a part of her that lives on. I try to honor her memory by giving them the best lives that I can.
Thank you so much for adopting Mackenzie and Mister Bo! When I turned forty I began to be concerned what would happen to my three cats if something happened to me. I finally sat down with a friend who's an attorney and we set up a trust. My younger brother agreed to take them and should something happen to him, his daughter. You're so right about senior cats, and I think what you're doing is utterly fantastic! THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO FOR THESE LOVELY ANIMALS!

Me and my dad adopted 2 cats and gave them to my grandma because we figured she could use some company. She passed away in 2016 , and now the kitties are with me. 🙂
Nearly burst into tears when she said what she had decided to set up. This is amazing of her, to do something like this. She's right, there is a serious gap for senior pets that lose their owners to death and/or, going in a care home.
It's hard for ANY a final to find themselves suddenly in an animal shelter but for seniors animals it can be EXTREMELY distressing to the point some, if very elderly, may pass away due to the distress.
Bo, is absolutely GORGEOUS, he clearly is in madly in love with this lady, and also grumpy cats growling by way of communication is hilarious and adorable.

I have wanted to help senior cats forever, as they suffer the most when their mommy and daddy dies, or go to a home.
Many times their last years are torture and trauma. And tjey deserve to be loved and cared for, just as senior people. Even younger cats who lose their elderly parents. It just as traumatic and sad to them as for us as humans.

There is a huge need for this service. I know many seniors who have had pets most of their lives but, have lost their pet. Now that they are in their late 60's to mid 70's, they really want to have a cat or dog but refuse to adopt another pet because sincerely afraid the pet will out live them, and they do not want to risk having their cat or dog end up in a shelter. It's a difficult situation for seniors.

My wife adopted a 15 year old from an old lady who moved to a retirement home. He's grumpy, too talk active and hairy but a such a cuddly baby^^

That is an amazing idea. There are too many animals that belong to people who have no-one to take over if something goes wrong. Some do have families who cannot or do not want to take them. This is a much needed service. And that is a wonderful cat.

Man, this REALLY hits home for me too...my first cat was a gorgeous 5 year old calico who was my grandma's neighbor's cat in need of a reliable home because neighbor's only family were absolute scumbags who just wanted her money when she passed, so grandma called me out of nowhere to see if I could take the kitty. Took her in, she was the sweetest little baby but turns out, couldn't keep her because I'm fucking allergic to cats! But fortunately, my sister's roommate came to just love her to bits when she had to live there for a while when my lease was being delayed, so roommate was over the moon to be able to officially adopt her. :) She couldn't live with me but happy to say kitty's doing great and gets all the loves and cuddles she could want! ♡♡
We did this with my grandmother in-law's two elderly cats in 2015, the cats already knew us well since we had lived there for a few years, grandma passed away in 2016.
I think that’s wonderful!! I adopted my 91 YT old friend’s kitty a year ago when she needed to move to a care facility. I take videos of Tigger to share with her each week. I’m so glad to have this sweet boy!

I’m so so so proud of you - you have so much compassion for aging kitty cats. I love my kitties as well. I adopted a new kitten two years ago. I was hesitant because I’m in my mid sixties. He is a large yellow male tabby too. He is so lovable. My other cat is 7 year old calico female. Thank you so much for all you do.

Such a wonderful gesture. Honestly I think this topic is not adressed enough and lots of innocent animals suffer when their senior owners can't take care of them. I think is a responsability that needs to be discussed and planned with the owner in life
I love you more than my words can convey. What you have done is so precious, to give peace to the owners so they don't have to worry about their precious kitties, and for these precious kitties to be able to live a new life with a new person or family. This is one of my dreams that you have done! Your grandparents' kitty is so beautiful, she looks so young! It's obvious she was so loved and cared for. I LOVE her meow....yes, some kitties just have the grouchy sounding voice that is actually just their sweet words. Bo.....he was meant to be your love boy.
