  • When Peter fell down stairs and hit his head, he didn’t expect it to save his life. An imaging study revealed a skull base meningioma - a benign tumor of the covering of the brain. He sought care from neurosurgeon Raj Mukherjee, M.D., M.P.H., who performed a minimally invasive craniotomy and removed the tumor. After the surgery, Peter says, it felt like a light had been turned on - the tumor was impacting his cognitive function for years and he didn’t realize it. Now he is more adamant than ever to live life to its fullest. #Meningioma #JohnsHopkins www.hopkinsmedicine.org/healt...

Christy, I wish you well. Dr. Mukherjee is my surgeon (recently performed 8/5/22). I literally had no symptoms until I had a seizure the day after my wedding anniversary 6/26. Out of the clear blue me and my family’s life was changed. Please trust in God you will be fine.

I was diagnosed about 3 years ago. I have no support and the people in my life say it’s not anything and don’t want me mentioning it. I’ve finally decided to do what’s best for me and get a second opinion. I’m going for an MRI soon. And found what seems to be an excellent neurologist who specializes in this and my other neurological symptoms. I’m ready to not feel this way

Good for you that you are getting a second opinion and not listening to those who are trying to tear you down. They don’t know anything about your struggle; only you do. I hope and pray that the neurologist will be able to give you more answers and prescribe you a course of action.

Omg. This is amazing. I knew for years and everyone within earshot knew I could not remember anything and I was secretly worried to myself that I might be getting early onset Dementia. Until the tumor grew so big, it cracked my skull and squeezed my brain, it couldn’t be ignored any longer by doctors. Fortunately, I was able to get it removed and all is well for short while, because after the surgery on the right side and a full recovery, the left side of my brain, I’m having pretty much the same symptoms now. Brand new, never had pain and pressure there, but nothing is showing up on the MRI and doctors are very dismissive, although I tell them this happened before and ER and doctors response were basically the same. I’m currently in search for a medical team that takes my insurance and can help me with this matter because I would love to catch it before it’s too late and don’t have to have my skull cracked again.

I want to know how to prevent this from coming back because I think I’m having another one that’s affecting me with really bad headaches and pressure. I’m drinking warm turmeric tea with cayenne pepper and a tablespoon of olive oil…a concoction to help with inflammation, and to tumor death. but I want to know if these remedies actually do work based on the studies some doctors have reported the benefits of these natural remedies???

I have several calcified meningiomas but didn’t know until I had a focal seizure last July. I am having issues with balance and memories but I’m doing fine.

Do the symptoms mentioned come and go, or is it constant?

Mine came and went but never a full week without symptoms. Always a false sense of relief and closure when it went away , and then it comes right back. It’s like a roller coaster. Of course I was always aware of it because I never take any numbing or pain pills until absolute necessary like I’m about to go to the emergency room level of pain. But of course my history of going to emergency room always get me diagnosed with panic, attacks, and anxiety, Brain scans that reveal nothing until it was too late. Because at that point, it had gotten very large. But experts doctors were able to remove it with affecting my brain.
