I had headaches every morning for 30 years and was diagnosed from a CAT scan that showed a meningioma.
In January of 2023 Drs found, by chance, a massive meningioma pressing on my frontal lobe. I was life flighted to Shands Neurological Hospital, died twice in the helicopter, for emergency brain surgery. They couldn't get all of it.

What a wonderful doctor he is. I love the way he explained the. I am recently diagnosed as incidental. mine is cavernous sinus 2.5 x 1.7 cm . Thank you so much for great explanation. It helped me.

For future watchers, a little bit of hope (I can tell I really need it when I was diagnosed):
6x6x6cm grade 2 meningioma in the frontal top left side, fully removed 4 years ago. No symptoms, no side effects. 100% normal life after the 3rd month after surgery. No recurrence so far.

Thank you for this video. We thought my mom was having onset dementia. She had short term memory loss, forgot to do simple things like combing her hair and brushing her teeth. She just wasn't herself so we were trying to talk her into going to the doctor. Her symptoms were slowly getting worse. The blacked out in the bathroom 4 days ago and hit her head. The emergency room did CT scans and showed a 6cm mass on her right frontal lobe pushing her brain. They did mri to confirm. She is in the hospital as I write this and is scheduled for surgery in 2 days. The neurosurgeon said he believes it is a meningioma.

I had a frontal lobe meningioma. I can’t smell at all through my right nostril. I’m so thankful it’s preserved on my left. Thank you for the lecture!
Did you have to have radiation in combination with the surgery? Also how long has it been since your surgery? How you feeling
@@mattscott6591 yes. I had a craniotomy 12 days after diagnosis and my follow up mri showed the tumor was the same size as before surgery. So I did 30 days of intensity modulated radiation therapy.
@@danica9237 wow! So your tumor regrew that fast? I also had a frontal lobe meningioma like 6cm. So far no growth, my 3 month scan showed a small cyst. How long ago was your surgery and did you have a lot of pressure in the spot the tumor was? When I stand up I get bad head rushes
@@mattscott6591 no it didn’t actually grow. Pathology showed zero cells in mitosis so I have the slowest growing tumor however I had sever edema which complicated things so my surgeon was not able to safely perform the extraction. It was very discouraging. Surgery was November 6, 2019
@@mattscott6591 I was seeing black spots but occasionally I’d feel pressure near my ear. My optometrist caught it.
What would you suggest for a 76-year old woman with 2cm big olfactory groove meningioma with traces of calcification? Thanks!

Does anyone knows what side effects will one get after the surgery? Will one have to be on a wheelchair for life after the surgery?
Mine is pressing on the optic chaism and currently it's affecting my left vision and slightly on the right also. I'm so afraid of going for the surgery.

How long have had it? My wife was just diagnosed with it today.
@@marckusblx8219 how is your wife doing? Was it grade 1? I had a grade 2 removed in february. They want to proactively start radiation therapy to try to limit the chances of the tumor growing back

I have had been diagnosed with meningioma , but the doctors want a 2nd option to ensure if it was benign and the doctors told me that my meningioma maybe the cause of why im having seizures
Would having multiple meningiomas indicate they are atypical?
i had 2 craniotomy, cyberknife , now i'm getting radiation therapy , i lost my eyesight, you're actually accurate about everything you said

Can you please tell me what the best approach is when the tumor has the size of a golfbal and sits between/above the eyes and there is notice of calcification and there are a lot of psychological problems.
I have had big time depressions over the last two years and I'm still struggling because I lost a great deal of my capabilities. I went to a psychologist. My tumor was seen by accident because of having had a TIA I have had a scan. My psychologist tells my that lots of my psychological problems are due to the tumor. Can you believe how confusing things are Wright now. Please tell me if this is possible and if it would be better to take the tumor out?
Is there a link between a meningioma and ivf drug treatment ?

I happened to have mri scan immediately after I had multiple ivf treatments. It was clear. 10 years on, an MRI scan showed a 15mm menigoma
Would say the same. I did IVF and was diagnosed with meningioma after.
Please help. My grandma is 84 and they found this in her yesterday because she had a seizure. They won’t operate to take it out and are saying to do radiation. They don’t know how long it’s been there. It’s effecting her legs and memory
I had the removal and it takes a huge toll on the body. I had a stroke, I went blind in one eye. And I still have 1/2 of the tumor left. Radiation will be less invasive on your grandmother and it will get the tumor
@@colleenbattensabala1128 what size and when was your surgery? My mother also had a surgery a couple of weeks back but she still feels weaker on the right side of her body.
@@aurangzeb7079 your mom has a long road. It took me a good year to feel normal. My tumor was just under 3cm I think and I had the surgery in April of 2019.
I still feel like I have weakness occasionally.
@@colleenbattensabala1128 Thanks for replying. Biopsy report suggest that it was meningiothalial meningioma which is a benign tumour ..... I hope it won't come back.
@@aurangzeb7079 usually they will not come back. If a reoccurring growth happens it would take 20plus years for it to cause any issues. I still have 1/2 mine, as the location was in a bad spot. But the minor growth that I have had since my surgery is 0.6mm in a year
Mine was 5cm by 6cm on the olfactory groove. I lost my sense of smell after they removed it. Definitely caused lots of problems being there. Large amounts of swelling and pressure with it.
Was yours a grade 1 ? I had a grade 2 removed and they want to start radiation right away as like a preventive measure. Did you have to receive radiation?
What size is considered large or small. I was missed diagnosed in 2014. My mengioma was at a 1.0 and a 1.5 and now it is at a 2.0 and a 2.2. They found due to accident

@@sheshe4517 I go to Methodist hospital in Houston. I see Dr Andrew G. Lee. For my Neurologist ophthalmologist, I see Dr, Mohammad Obadah Nakawah for Neurologist, and neurosurgery, Yi. Jonathan Zhang. They are amazing. I call them the dream team. I had a partial resection. Went from a walnut And now my tumor is the size of a blueberry. I can due gamma knife surgery/radiation to make it a pea size.. but it’s stable so I opt to leave it alone. And all of my people/ doctors agree.

Surgery ‘not worth it’ for 80 or 90yr olds……..
I think neurosurgeons tend to not have the best layman verbiage. From my reading they say that post 7th decade anesthesia alone can be the end of an older person, and that I've seen. They also have a much more difficult time with recovery and rehabilitation. That said I believe he meant the risks would be paramount and not outweigh the benefit. I don't think he was saying older people themselves are not worth it.
