  • Welcome to Yata-Tetsu's Station & Train Announcements Channel from Japan!
*Just reminding you before the details that 'sort' as a verb will mean 'to solve a problem' in the UK.
    ================================
Do you know the most famous phrase of train announcements in the uk?
You said 'Mind the gap'? Nice try, but actually it isn't.
'If you see something that doesn't look right, speak to staff or text the British Transport Police on 61016, we'll sort it.
    SEE IT. SAY IT. SORTED.'
This is a security message that can be heard or seen across the UK, including in every train, every station platform, some newspapers and even on some radio programmes. It just started a part of campaign to prevent and get rid of persons who can commit crimes or potential terrorist acts from the public transports.
This catchphrase catched passengers' attention more than enough, did increase reports of crimes dramatically, and it is now parmanently used throughout the nation.
Its completely perfect rhysm and the clear, posh pornunciation of British accent will grab your heart as well. If it can grab your heart and the message sticks in your head, the slogan is perfectly working.
But, as it catched British people's attention too much and they need to listen to it on every single journey, some of the rail commuters have get annoyed; it is proved by one of the newspaper publisher asking whether 'See it, Say it, Sorted is the most annoying ad slogan of the century'.
In my opinion as one of a rail commuter in Japan, we need to listen to 'set your phones to silent mode', 'give your seats to less mobility passengers', 'you need to wear a face covering', other etiquette announcement and needless apologies that is like 'we are VERY SORRY to announce that this train is delayed by ONE MINUTE' on every single journey, so I can't understand why rail commuters in uk are complaining about listening to just one safety announcement,,, but anyway,
Let's think it from the other point of view -- these facts mean the phrase strongly sticked in the mind of rail commuters in the UK, thus they are perfectly trained and understand what they should do if they find anything suspicious on public transports and can maintain their transport means the safest in the world, with just one catchphrase formed of five words. And I think uk rail users should be proud of posessing the most efficient train announcement in the world!
And this video aims to make you unable to stop repeating the safety announcement in your head. After watching this video you should visit UK and listen to the real see it, say it sorted announcement. Now you cannot stop thinking of uk's rail announcements.
    Hear it. Visit it. Addicted:)

The ones that use the "6-101-6" format are highlighting a particular connection with the number - 61016 was specifically chosen to match 101, the non-emergency number for the police.

I have been UK for a few months, and in the first month it already got stuck in my mind. Every friend I know who had ever visited UK and took rail transport before all told me that they still rememeber this one. I don't know is it the most effective one, but I think it is a success. At lease once it came up to my head when I saw something doesn't look right before--although that's a weather caused problem instead of a secuity issues (and I made a joke on that with my friends lol), but it may just come up to your head at the right time. I think that's the point for this kind of announcements.

1:44 a little fun fact: The Jubilee Line trains have the 61016 announcement preloaded, however they can only be played manually. I've never seen a driver play it however

Every time I host a foreign visitor, especially those who do not come to the UK a lot, they always arrive quoting this from the train!

1:41 I think that one is ridiculous, because unusual things can happen often on trains, such as people travelling with weird, but ultimately acceptable items, and that announcement seems to suggest that you should talk to the police for 'unusual' things.

Nice video, but i must ask, how do you conclude that it is the most effective? In my observation, yes you hear it everywhere, but does it really amount to anything. As for many things that get stuck in your mind, they are there, but what do they actually do. Maybe the sense of security rises, but that is not real security.
