About midgame , if you are fairly far along on completing your tickets, take more tickets, at least one, that integrates well with the tickets you have. This is because in a game against experienced players you rarely win by just fulfilling your start tickets. If you don't take more tickets then you need to do a bunch of the longer routes. Also try not to "branch off" on your routes. If you can, make it a continuous line so you have a shot at the 10pt longest route bonus

I started them on Ticket to Ride For Juniors (no joke) and was going to bring over a short map like New York when one of them went online and purchased the USA map, Japan, and vintage train cards! OK he has a shopping addiction but still! It all began with your video! And Wil Weaton’s. Still…
Every map has its strategy points. For example switzerland: Whom ever have control over Zug and Zürich shall possess the power of The... significant advantage. USA map has the Atlanta - Nashville thing.
Well 500 Miles is ruined for me. Every time I hear that song now I’m only going to be able to visualize Paula’s insane dance moves. Maybe that’s a good thing. 😏
So.. ticket to ride is a strategy less game. I think that is why so many of us dont like it. Draw a card, hope it's the one you want, eventually place down trains, repeat.
It's a gateway set collection game that's basically a next step from Rummy. The strategies aren't deep, but there's strategy there. There's also an open market of 5 cards to choose from. It's rarely "draw a card, hope it's the one you want." Most of the time it's taking 1-2 cards that are displayed in the market, because having sets that fit with routes you need is more valuable that lucking into a wild off the top of the deck. There's only two good reason to pull cards off the top of the deck. The market doesn't provide anything you need. Or your hand of cards benefits from you obtaining about any color of card.

I've always found singing board game-themed parodies during gameplay is also a winning strategy to destabilize and confuse your opponents.

As a frequent player of this game, (and frequent winner) I approve of these song powered strategies. 👍
As someone who can apparently do great at Twilight Imperium but loses frequently and often at Ticket to Ride, I found this helpful.
Another excellent strategy guide. I’m sorry Wil Wheaton isn’t still airing episodes, I would like to see you at the game table, you’d be a great fit.
