I liked Ken's thoughts on Paul being devious even in the beginning with the non-believers. Even if partially sincere, it's easy to forget that he and Jessica are studied on these people, as well. It certainly adds a dimension to him that I hadn't even considered.
I just don’t think it’s accurate because I think they would’ve conveyed that in the moments that Paul and Jessica had in private, but even when they did have those moments in private he expressed the opposite. They only studied because they were going to a planet they had not been to and wanted to offer peace because of the father
@@croissant87712 I don’t think it’s a coincidence that in the scene prior he explains how he needs to “convince the non-believers.” I read it exactly the same! Sure Paul resents the prophecy, but he’s definitely using it in that scene to get on the good side of the nonbelievers. They think he’s genuine because of it. After a while I do think he falls in love with Chani and the Fremen but it doesn’t happen immediately. In the beginning he’s purely motivated by revenge. Paul is not cartoonishly evil but I feel people are far too forgiving of his character. And maybe that’s the point? The audience is just as susceptible to his charm as the Fremen are!
Completely wrong. Paul precisely says "I must convert the non believers" then very soon after he chooses to speak to the atheists not the theists...@@croissant87712
Interesting that Rogue One vs Dune 2 was a question, as both movies are shot by the same cinematographer Greig Fraser. Who also shot The Batman and The Creator. Amazing dp
Nolan is great and one of the best, he always makes super ambitious movies and Villeneuve is showing that he also can. That being said, Nolan cant do a movie like Incendies or Prisioners.
amazing what people don't listen too, what they assume things are because they too busy thinking about their day, and directors are right subtlety is lost on us Americans
1:25:10 Paul COULDN'T have been done lmao because he has basically given House Atreides/the Fremen full control of spice production Meaning he can dole out as much or as little spice to the rest of the universe as he'd like. Paul HAD to become Emperor because the Emperor would just keep sending armies to Arrakis (the Emperor has deeep pockets) [and also he wanted revenge on the Emperor too] And afterwards the Great Houses refused to acknowledge Paul's ascension. So Paul HAD to start the Holy War because the Great Houses would start sending endless armies down to Arrakis to eradicate Paul There was no way Paul could just stop at killing the Baron Harkonnen. And also 😂 this doesn't make him evil. He's following the only path that can keep his loved ones safe
It wasn't about just keeping his loved ones safe, or just about revenge. He was partly locked into taking up the role of Mahdi, even if it was a facade. He took the least bloody route he could see. 60+ billion dead by the end of it, so still pretty bad.
Myke isn’t the dune expert he thinks he is lol the amount of times he just got something flat out wrong and the rest of the panel accepted it because they thought he knows the story
@@goob8945 nah bro I understand it perfectly the story plot is not good in my opinion… I don’t like it at all… the cinematography is phenomenal tho fahso
This was one of the best theater experiences I’ve ever had

Yo spike is dope, he brings great energy to the podcast, I hope he stays on for more reviews
He will.

He didn't shoot creator, he was an adviser if I recall correctly.
@@Kyljys-pt4up you are indeed correct. He’s credited but due to the pandemic he Oren Soffer to take over and Greig advised. I just read it up
You need to see Blade Runner 2049 if you are Denis Villeneuve fan.
I slept through that movie. The only DV movie I hate.
We need to find Myke's letterbox 😂
That's a lot of 1 star reviews
@DanglinBalls69
Shit's gonna be 95% horror/bleak dramas and the 5% that isn't all got 2-3 star ratings lmfao
I've watched about 3 or 4 discussions about Dune 2 but yall easily had the best, and funniest, discussion about it 😂
Excited to hear Ken and Na’s thoughts on this one

Man don't let Ken host anymore lol. A pretty good review otherwise. And Myke is crazy for that "Jesus Pt. 2 Electric Bugaloo" line lol
haha damn what i do?

Keeping his love ones safe if taking a whole nation of people based on a false premise… Paul isn’t a prophet

Dune 2 is way better than Rogue Buns
This movie slapped 🔥
I definitely liked this one. Sci-Fi is easy to make corny and ridiculous but I trust Denis do this well.
Khal Drogo may have died last movie, but Thanos lives on...
You guys are confusing the lisan al gaib and the kwisatz haderach both are different things
Pretty sure Dragonball Z was in Mexico before America
1:14:49 Killed me 😂😂😂
sheeeeshhhh.... yall need to watch these movies over again and take notes... couldnt have been more wrong about everything
Like what?
Or what is this "everything" you speak of
@athenajeyhey you like watching them, so do i lol. but if you know, you know - that's all i will comment
Ask not whether ye believe in the prophecy. Ask instead why a prophecy exists.
Oh I also hated that bullshit as love story thru out the film unnecessary
Boring ass movie
😂😂😂
U need to stop trying to understanding it and start overstanding it
