Now, THIS is why I absolutely love this channel. SOME people find it SO hard to be an 'honest sportsman'. But NOT you. Even I'VE wondered why you release perfectly LEGAL 'catches'. Much respect Robbie.~Eli.
Hi Eli, thank you so much for watching. I like to keep a couple each year but nit overdo it. If I kept all that I am entitled to I think it would have an impact on the population.

Nice crays Robbie!!! They are GINORMOUS. I've never went crayfishing but do have experience using those nets to catch eels those nets are so fun to use.
Beautiful crayfish, you got some real whoppers. We only find signal crays as they have taken over just about every waterway from our indidgenous white clawed crays, they may be a bugger to get rid of but god they are sooo tasty.👍👍👍
Thanks Mikey. Sounds like rabbits over here. They're a national pest that tge government has invested millions of dollars on trying to eradicate over the years. But.. They're great fun to shoot and taste magnificent. LOL We'd be lost without them. LOL

That's a GOOD 1 Robbie! HAVE you had much rain this past week? Been copping it BIG time down south! Bloody cold too! But weather improving later this week! Heatwave of 17deg for the next week! Yay!
G'day UF, very little rain up here mate. We had a but a few weeks back. Everything is nice and green now bit not much runoff. Glad you're getting some decent rain.
If someone were to offer you either a plate of cooked yabbybtails or cooked crayfishtails for being such a great bloke , which would you take to eat while watching Rex Hunt fishing replays at home ? I am unsure if I have eaten crayfish and if i have then I would say the meat is more rubbery
Hey mate can you keep these fresh water crays as pets in a tank like a yabbie ? are they as easy to keep as a yabbie ? Because they would make a cool pet I have a yabbie as a pet and i have had it for nearly 5 years .
Hi mate I am not 100% sure. I would imagine that you could keep one if you stayed within the bag and size limits. I would check with fisheries to be sure though. Crayfish require a lot morenoxygen in the water than yabbies do make sure you have a decent airator or two. I'm not sure how you will go with water temperature though.
bloody hell mate that last one had claws on it like a mud crab, such amazing looking creatures. Will have to have a look at the next marron I catch to see if they have the same nodes to determine the sex, do you know if they're the same? I have a bunch of private dams that I have stocked with a mate so we can get a feed without smashing the natural population. Would be good to tell the difference so we can leave the females in there to breed
Hi Robbie. Wanted to take daughter to catch some crays with handline . Any suggestions. I normally take her yabbying and want to let her catch these monster crays.
Hi mate, there are crayfish in most of the tributaries that run into the Murray in both NSW and Victoria. Goulburn River, Broken, Ovens, Kiewa, Murrumbidgee and obviously the Murray all have crays. Avoid the lower Murray as there are sections that are closed to cray fishing down there. The Murray River downstream of Lake Mulwala is a know hot spot, just make sure you check in with NSW fishing rules to ensure the stretch officer you want to go to is not closes.

Hi Phoebe I love a feed of fresh crays buy also like releasing them to keep the system sustainable. To the honest I have no idea how long they carry their eggs. Excellent question.
Phoebe, the females will carry the eggs/young for about 6 months, from May-June until November-December when juveniles are released into the water. Juveniles hatch and develop under the tail, and are independent when released. :)
