Yeah, I’m a boxer, been doing it for a while. And I recently asked a girl out, everyone at my school knows I box, so when she slapped me, I had to laugh it off. Cause I’m also not frail looking, the slap hurt more emotionally than physically, but still, no one really cared

I'm honestly insulted more frequently as a woman than I was as a man. On the other hand, I recieve more compliments from strangers, too.
The biggest difference between cisgender male and cisgender female that I've noticed here is that bullying _toward_ males tends to be more violent while bullying _toward_ females tends to be more manipulative. In both cases, the gender and sex of the bully don't seem to matter as much as the target.
Please note: This is all anecdotal and not data-backed evidence of any common societal phenomenon.

10:47 As a female, I agree so much. I want to be friendly to men without it being seen as a sexual advancement. I just want to have male friends. I'm not interested in dating you, tyvm. I also don't like how families will see opposite-sex friendships as relationships. It's weird, discomforting, and sometimes creepy and gross. Even opposite-sex siblings who are friendly with each other will be seen as couples by some people... Let's not forget that time the kiss cam focused on two siblings and the dude had to bring a "that's my sister" sign. Let men and women be friends, please.

It's a vicious cycle. Men only receive affection if it's romantic, so they assume any affection is romantic. In turn, this scares women off of showing affection platonically to avoid being misinterpreted, causing men to only receive affection if it's romantic.

And if two girls get along, they should allowed to be friends and not assumed to be lesbians or pushed into becoming such a relationship! It shouldn't be forced for representation sake either. It always feels bad and Insincere. Some people have better relationships when they _aren't_ forced into the commitment of being a couple.

One massive gender-based double-standard that infuriates me to no end is how if a husband and wife have gotten a divorce and if there's children involved, that in the rare instances that the father has physical custody of the child/children and the wife's supposed to make payments for child support they're likely to pay less than the man and if they'd missed a payment, they'd essentially get a slap on the wrist and told "Don't Do That Again", whereas, if a man had to pay child support, his payments would be significantly higher than his former spouse's payments would've been if he had physical custody and if he'd missed a payment he'd get jail time and the same applies to alimony

    • @itsharperoffi
      @itsharperoffi 3 місяці тому +16

Yeah and when people see a dude that got full custody people are always like: his wife is dead, he'd must done something to her(never in case where woman have full custody) or how cruel he is for keeping kids away from their mother(when woman is doing that people don't think she's cruel, she's protecting them or something). People rarely assume that woman could simply abandonded her family

My grandmother has a habit of complimenting me, a man, in a way that almost comes across as flirting. She’ll say stuff like, “If I were your age, I’d chase you down the street to get you to date me,” and “In another life I’d wish for you to be my boyfriend.”
Obviously these comments make me incredibly uncomfortable, but my family tells me to just go along with it, saying that she’s just having a little fun with me and that she’s old and I should feel flattered.
Change up the genders in this scenario and I’m pretty sure that my grandmother would never be allowed to see me again.

Women have all the resources after a domestic relationship men have nothing. Men are often told they have to pay child support and spousal support to their abuser. In the rare instance they get custody nothing happens to the women.

5:23 Gonna have to disagree. Many male band members and singers deal with constant harassment, stalking, and sexualization from fans, mainly from female fans. It's particularly notable behavior in bands that have alternative (metal, rock n roll, punk) and/or pop music. Panic! at the Disco, Twenty One Pilots, Justin Beiber, Maroon 5, and Shawn Mendez are just some examples of male artists that have been taken advantage of. It's just not taken as seriously or even represented enough. Many male singers also get flashed and touched by fans, and while many may enjoy it, they don't see it as the predatory behavior it is. Female artists who are flashed or touched by fans call it out for what it is- assault. But we haven't shared that advocacy for men yet so they won't even see assault when it happens to them because sexual abuse has become so pointlessly gendered. If we did more to represent men in all fields who are sexually abused, we'd see them call out their abuses more. But instead, they're brainwashed to "enjoy" it and "man up".
On a side note, I'd love to see more representation for female band members, especially in the rock and metal genres. Girls who shred are amazing and deserve the appreciation. Yes, believe it or not, women can also play kickass instruments.

As a male I can't/shouldn't have cute things. I recentely bought a phone charm with the theme of Anya Forger from Spy x Family. I adore her, like the rest of her family (her father Loid, her mother Yor and her dog Bond) and she always make me smile/laugh. Also I asked to have one with small pearls, which were white, pink and a black shaped knot one, just like her. When my mother saw it asked me "is it a bit too femenine for you?" I explained that it's just in theme with the character and if I saw someone mocking me for this, I would speak with my fists. @charlottestreet3301 thanks. I started telling people to f off from a long time. They might be also the very same people who are against stereotypes. Anyway Spy x Family is an anime that talks about a spy named Twilight that assumes the identity of Loid Forger and has to move into the country (Ostania) next to his(Westalis) (these two are some sort of Western and Eastern Germany like countries after WW2) and he has to get married and adopt a child so he can get close to a person that might cause another war (he's been through a war when he was a child and a teen). He adopts a girl named Anya, little he knows she's telepathy, and marries Yor Briar, a woman that works as a city hall clerk as a facade, but she's actually a murderer who kills people that threat the country. Only Anya knows the secrets life of the other two. This "family" has to face every day quests so that their missions will be completed and to secure peace. Also Anya's main colors are pink and black.

In fairness, this "double standard" probably came about due to the fact that cooking is a physical profession, in the same general area(albeit a few magnitudes less demanding) as construction. A professional cook is expected to constantly cook for 7 hours straight(14 hour shifts are considered normal, so factor in a lunch break and we'll say 7.)

    1. If a woman leaves you because sex isnt good enough, its fine and understandable to MOST people, but if a guy does the same thing, it becomes a topic of how to spice it up and that he didnt try to, so he sucks. Thats not fair. Why doesnt it come up when its women? Only men call this out, few women if any.
    2. They can talk and talk about work problems, what this person said, just generally venting about things throughout their day. They want you to know because there venting and it helps them and they feel comfy telling you. But if i begin to talk about my problems, especially when theyre much larger issues, its treated like im complaining and not fixint my problems. But they didnt stand up for themselves in their story. They didnt fix their shit from a week ago that they told me about, this weeks story is the same. But if i say get a different job or stop talking to them, im not understanding or im gaslighting them. It cant be both ways. Or your complaints and stories bore them. This woman is my mom. My dad deals with this.
    3. If a woman doesnt feel like doing stuff and is laying arouns doing a lot of nothing and just mentally exhausted, SHES healing. Shes mentally not expected to suck it is. If a guy does it, we are told we are losers. Usually by other men, which makes us feel like shit, then women shame you for it, its like damn. My mental health matters, im sorry mine doesnt matter to you.
    4. Depression and sadness is treated with the utmost care which is totally understandable, you cant control it, youre sad you need compassion. Its a chemical inbalance. Meanwhile, NONE of this consideration is given to people with anger issues who also can have an inbalance and need time and understanding. Men are already seen as shitty. So add anger they deem as too much? Even when theyre to blame for you being upset? Thats infuriating. But if you ignore the emotion theyre displaying, you dont care about them.
    5. Women talking shit about men is not seen as sexist, but a man even disagreeing with a single point these women make even if they agree with some of them makes that man a misogynist. If theyre not all in, they dont belong.

Stay at home parenting isn't strictly easy in every sense, and you still need breaks from both parenting and the household. Buuut, it is way easier than most jobs. Both me and my wife have at some point been stay at home parents. The biggest danger is getting too comfortable or if you build frustration during challenging times and don't get a break every now and then. Regardless of the task, if it is 24/7, you can feel a bit trapped. Even with a stay at home parent involved you should do like an 80/20 kind of division so both parties get a breather regardless.
I've worked more than full time while studying full time and I still had a routine for keeping the house in order and activities with the kids and dog. Clear communication helps. While I didn't expect my wife to do everything around the house, I certainly considered her in charge of getting most home life things done. As I considered myself in charge of getting necessary and recommended home life things done while I was stay at home.
Do things as a couple. Take walks together, vent, play games, watch shows together and have bedroom fun. When things get stressful it is even more important to keep up with these things and that you both help to make the life of your partner better.

The wedding thing. Future wife and I went to a wedding galla event to see what was available in our area.
Buckle up this may be a rant. 😅
Ok. So just at the door. We both registered. She got signed in and given a huge button "Bride to Be" to wear amd no charge. I got signed in and was told to pay $35.00. Also. No button.
She and her mother were whisked away with the tour that was being formed by a lady with a clipboard. While I was just standing there. After they started the grand tour. I slipped out and went from one end of the exhibition to the other. Taking in the sights, booths and services offered. I noted that there were only 2 Booths for men. The first was a hasty single table from Sun Ray Cleaners for Tuxedo Rentals and the other a make shift bar. I went up to the Sun Ray table and spoke with the lady behind the table.
Before she could offer any of her pinted materiels. I said the following.
"I do electrical work and have been behind your counter". In the back where you conduct "business" its filthy and staffed with felons. At no point would I accept anything you have to offer".
She was mortified and left standing there as I went to leave.
She tried to stop me and apologize but then said.
"A Tuxedo is a a uniform for those that park the Bentley at Royal weddings. Do you really expect me to wear that on my day of days?"
Again a very worried look upon her face.
But I simply turned off and left that convention completely.
Side note about ring selection for male wedding bands. Men have been working with metal as long as we have had a written language. So to only have so simplistic ones on offer that look like a cut off section of stock pipe is itself an insult.

I was at the store with my now ex-girlfriend's daughter once. This lady got it in her head that I was kidnapper and confronted me at one point to which I politely told her to leave us alone. She proceeded to follow us around the store and was on the phone - presumably with the cops - at one point before she suddenly bum rushes me from behind trying to snatch my gf's little girl from out of my arm. Long story short/TL,DR she wound up getting hit and catching a bow to the face/jaw. Apparently her 11 or 12 yo kid was there with her too and they saw this whole thing go down at which point they began to wail like a banshee thinking I just killed their mom. She was fine and the police arrived barely 30 seconds later (talk about crap timing). Fortunately the store manager had seen the initial confrontation and already knew who I was because I actually graduated high school with his eldest son who was also a friend of mine, and their brand new fancy store surveillance system caught EVERYTHING in excruciating detail. The woman was hurling all sorts of ridiculous accusations my way until the police came out from the security office and told her they saw exactly what happened. That's when she got reeeaaal silent. She was charged with two counts of assault (for myself and my gf's kid), attempted kidnapping, and disorderly conduct and then promptly arrested on-scene. They said she was lucky they were able to get ahold of her kid's dad too because if not they probably would have called CPS... The woman started acting all hysterical again and still swearing up and down that I was a kidnapper and a pedo and what have you, claiming that I'm a woman beater and shit. It was a real nightmare at the time but looking back kinda funny too honestly. She ended up having one of the assault charges and attempted kidnapping dropped but pled "no contest" to the other assault charge and disorderly conduct (which is basically pleading guilty simply by another name). She had to pay a whole bunch of fines and serve a bunch of community service with like two years of probation on top of it. She's lucky I wasn't petty about it and didn't sue the pants off her ass because I absolutely could have...
Other than that though I did experience quite a bit of misandry/male sexism when worling on my internship and clinical hours for a veterinary technician program. I was the only guy at this particular clinic and a lot of the clients either thought it was weird or they like wouldn't trust me to do anything. Fortunately for me though the head tech was super sweet and she was actually pretty protective of me, so whenever a client would start acting shitty or make some snide comment about me being a dude or not trusting me because of that or whatever, she was always really quick to jump in and defend me every single time. There was this one lady who was particularly mean about it and she was being super sexist and totally out of line, and she ended up getting kicked out and banned from the clinic permanently. The head tech basically told her that we'd finish up with the appointment (since we were in the middle of administering treatment to her cat), but then she'd have to leave immediately when we were done and that she would have to find another veterinary care provider in the future because she wouldn't be allowed back in the building ever again. I felt really bad about it afterward and I told the head tech that she didn't have to do all that, but she stood firm and insisted that she simply would not tolerate any abuse towards her staff no matter what. She also said that she always hated that lady anyway so it was some "good riddance" as far she was concerned lol.
Anyhow yeah as a guy I've definitely experienced quite a few of those absurd sexist double standards and the common biases often held towards men based solely on the fact that they're male.

A huge double standard is “fancy dress”, for woman it’s dress or skirt, for men it’s khaki pants, button down shirt, belt, optionally a tie or blazer too. Let us be comfortable too.
Men get the short end of the stick.

It is a double standard. Most men will never know what it's like to be desired just for being attractive. Yea sucks for you that you have a hard time getting away from it, but how women can't see the hardship on the opposite side is beyond me. How did women get the "more caring/ understanding" stereotype? They so often can't see the other side.

Funny enough, tons of men could/do see this...just from other men. Women don't really express physical desire for men's bodies, or atleast express that desire in ways men are willing to receive.

I like how this is an even spread of gender double standards. The sooner we can stop treating it as a team sport and realise we're all in this together the better.
I get unreasonably anxious if I am out with my niece and her dad goes off to do something. Its stupid that society has conditioned men to feel like every interaction with a kid is inappropriate, even if they are related.

That there are genuinely people, mostly women, who think that men cannot be raped by a woman.
That's right, I used the word.
Men being unable to control their arousals in adolescence, or drugged in an extreme scenario, are then forced upon by women who just use them like toys.
Keep in mind! This is not something that's happened to me! But it has happened, and is even more rarely reported or criminalized as other instances of sexual assault that typically find women as the victim.
This ignorance makes me red in the face.

Height judgment is such a stupid thing
    Short girl: Cute
    Short guy: Cringe
    Average {both}: To normal
    Tall girl: Strange
Tall guy: Anything besides it is unacceptable
And don’t forgot you can also be to tall. No one can win! I have people who are so infatuated with height and make it a dealbreaker. Let people exist.

Over 2 years ago I took a contract while in nursing school to help out at a local special needs preschool.
There was this girl and she asked me to sit next to her, she was showing me her art she did. I just said things like “wow cool
You’re such an artist!” Things you would tell a 4 year old.
The class para called her and said “Abbey come sit with me” and stared daggers at me.
I finished my shift and cancelled my contract and I told them why.
Since I terminated early I’m illegible for rehire to that position.
Even if they offered me a spot, I would never go back.
The funny thing? The principal/director is male.

You know what really annoys me? I am a man and I have just about have an equal amount of female and male friends. However, it seems that every time I hang out with my male friends they keep on going on about how I'm "pulling so many girls" and "have so much rizz" (I know, I think it's cringy too). But thing is... I'm a bisexual! I would have an equal opportunity to hit on both my male and female friends! So I have no idea what they're going on about🙄.

Double standards (if you can count this as one) I utterly hate is how women just assume all men are terrible people, but expect them to treat those women like utter goddesses when they clearly don't deserve it
