Super helpful to have a non biased / non sponsored review. Thank you!
I just fixed a FCS1 fin issue yesterday. So frustrating. But it inspired me to really scan my boards and do some small ding repair so I guess it wasn't that bad.

Lotta great info on fins ! Super informative ! Learned more in this one video about fins than i ever knew and or thought about !
The video made me feel so relaxed just watching it and so laid back ! Makes it so much easier watching a longer video when the hosts project that feeling or can convey that feeling to someone watching ! Keep doing what your doing :D
Looking forward to the next one :)

I found with the fcs 2, when I am surfing reefs they can easily pop out and then I have to search for them or buy a new fin set. But since then I have put the fcs 1 screws in the fin box with the fcs 2 fins and they are heaps stronger. You can also put different brands of fins in the fcs 2 fin boxes (the fins are called Promax) thanks for the video, I enjoy them heaps😜

One point I would like to add. Stock Futures, even the least expensive ones, snap at the base when hit from the side versus yanking the box out too, which I believe they are designed to. The no name fins don't snap but tip and yank the fin box out too which is an expensive board repair versus just replacing the snapped fin.

I've had no problems with FCS II fins. Use a towel to cover your hand when pulling them out instead of a leash

the last few minutes were the best for me. I got a new custom made board, it came with FCS2 thruster plugs in the blank and I asked him to add the option for a quad, so he glassed in some FCS (originals) in the stabilizer position.
Yes - I have FCS and FCS2 plugs on my board
It's been epic going through all the configs from quad to twin and really feeling the difference.
I love the reminder that you give to use the plastic fins from time to time. But I am loving my FCS2 performa thrusters and my Scarfini quads - but those plastic fins are gonna come out of the box again too.
I am reshaping the old 7'2" that I learned to surf on, I lost one of the FCS plugs so I only have 5, and I think I'm going to use 3 on one side so that there is the option to shift it forwards or backwards

same with skatewheels you have to test them and it has to feel right. Spitfire feels the best for me Bones SPFs for concrete parks/ramps Spitfire for street and rough skateparks

Lib Tech makes a fin box that allows the fins to slide (a little) from front to back - allowing for some adjustment before screwing them in place.

The Probox fin system does actually let you adjust fin cant from like 0 to 8 degrees and also fin fore/aft. You can also put FCS 1 and Futures fins in them too!

I like the ProBox system. Change cant and fwd/bkwd movement. Makes a real difference. However, they are (1) getting a bit more difficult to find on the east coast (US) and (2) the routing template system is a real PITA having to spray 77 adhesive on the board.... ick. They need to develop a router template like the Future or FCS Fusion. They also need a bigger selection of fins for ProBox with the solid base rather than the two tab FCS system.

Larry Allison owns Probox. He is out of LA and Hawaii. The cant angle and forward and aft movement is huge. However...as a shaper they are tough to put in. They are also a post glassing system vs an underglass system. The originators of Probox "Robin somebody" sold the system to Larry. Robin invented a new system called Gearbox. Looks promising. Then there is 4wayfin system. Awesome adjustment...but nobody uses them.
Anyway Larry Allison makes fins. They are amazing fins. But...Probox has real install issues. Nothing easy about it. Which can lead leakage problems later. The tolerance around the box at install is too great. On the flip side...They do provide good drive and they are great for experimenting with fin positions as well as dialing a board in. So good if you get a slug of a board and a few shifts in will completely change the feel. They also take twin tab FCS fins as well as Probox fins.
You also forgot FCS fusion system. I install mainly FCSII now. However...I have lost two brand new fins with FCSII. Crazy. But after snapping them in. Different boards and different fin sets. One side fin just fell out. (possibly on a cut back...or with my foot as I swung up from a prone position. I now put a fin screw in the back hole they provide.
I really like the FCS fusion system. Lot's of fins out there and the install is direct and strong. I wish they had a bit more forward and aft movement for adjustment. (makes a big difference). an 1/8" to 3/16" of an inch can be just as big of a difference as if you went from medium fins to large fins.
Chinese companies are starting to knock off FCSII fins for much cheaper. And while we hate the idea of buying chinese products. They are actually pretty good quality with snap and good flex patterns. But...FCS gets their fins made in China. You just have to look at Amazon and Ebay.
As far as the FCS X2 system that you dislike so much. (The single round plugs) I get it. They sort of suck. But They do have a few advantages. They can get into deep bottom contours. They can be sanded into channels and arcing concave and still provide the proper cant angle to the fin. If you have not tried a board with a 1/4" to 3/8" or more bottom concave running through the fins...You have to try it. They fly. You ride more on air and rail then the bottom of the board. X2 are also great for a Twinzer fin set up. Which is an awesome fish set up.
      People seem to love futures.
Future are still made in America.
All I know is that the cant is built into the fins and that the equipment for install is expensive.
The inside out patented foil of the scimitar fins...are sweet. Great fins and lots of options from Futures and other companies. No movement forward and aft.
Locbox were good. Wish they were still prevalent.
RedX....Good fins... Leaked around the box.

I have gone to using a two pour install for probox. Exotherm in cooler temps was killing my install. I just used painters tape to position the Jig and keep it on the board for a few min. ( No Super 77 ) Once I route it before the hot coat. (Yes...I route it before the hot coat) I then pour and set the plug by eye using only half the needed resin...Lining it up with my marks in the proper position. Not that hard. This will leave a gap to the top. I let it kick fully. Now the plug is set. it's not moving. And exotherm is reduced quite a bit by the first batch of resin spread around the sides and in most of the route. Then I tape off the top of the box and hot coat the entire board. using the brush to pull resin into the gap around the fin plug. this way It's all connected to the same batch of resin. I sometimes have a bit of touch up work after. But those plugs always have touch up work anyway. I use epoxy. So it's stronger and doesn't really need filler like cabosil.

Hey guys, great video! Another thing which is no good about the FCS 1's is that the fins often don't fit flush, you end up with a gap between the fin and the board. You can get out of the water with sea weed and stuff stuck under them :) It's amazing how long they've been around! The new systems are a welcome change! Shaka!!! Xx

I've found if I remove and rinse my fcs 2 fins after surfing, they don't get too hard to swap. I have scratched up the board a few times putting in/out, so recommend towels for board and hand protection... Also, you can lose fcs 2 if you don't make sure they are properly seated.

Is it important to take the fins out of a board when not surfing? I have 2 boards (one with a tri-fin setup and one with a quad-fin setup) and I only have 1 fin-set for each board, so I just leave them in when I'm not surfing.

I tried putting the screw of the middle fin in the hole of the other 2 but it was two big. Do you know where I could find these screws online? I looked on the future site and they were all one size.

talking with few surfers here in spain, I´ve heard about four people losing their fcsII fins, and not because of a terrible wipeout
that broke the finbox, but because of the fin just falling down. Im a bit worried ... im about to get a new "in stock" board which uses fcsII system and I'd like to keep using (fcsI) fins because the meet my needs. Could you please share your experience about the security of this system (with both the old and the new type of fins)?

Us fin box has the sliding option , and one screw , good option for longboard or sup , you can make easy change if you want to Sup and go more strait or to surf and do turns more easy ...
