We all love the drama of most auditing video's, but can we take a minute and admire this policeman and the mannerisms he came across with, THIS is what every policeman should strive to be like. Kudos.

Also check out the tiny man on the wall at 7:20 - the garage would seem like a hotel to him. The bin van driver got off lightly and I bet he wont be going over 30 for some time. Great work PTTP.

Unless the law has changed, it is speed limit + 10% + 1 so a 30 zone is 34 max. This takes into account the possible inaccuracies of a vehicles speedometer. You can demand to see the calibration certificate of the device being used for speed measurement because the reading would be void if the instrument is out of calibration.
The is only speeding offence if you are over the speed limit for quarter of mile. It is very good to see how these 2 officer respond to the questions . This is how police should be civil polite and informative.
I like how it's not just about the tickets, but also informing the engineers if they need to make a change to the road conditions. Shows it's actually about safety and not just revenue. In addition to being super visible and not hiding like our cops.
Pleasant chaps. I live on a road where speeding happens all the time. It turns into a national speed limit at the other end of the village but loads start going fast before it. No respect for pedestrians the elderly and children. At least one death every 3 years.
Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) guidance for a 30mph limit is - 35mph Fixed penalty when education is not appropriate. 35-42mph Speed awareness if appropriate. 50mph Summons in all other cases and above.
Speed camera operators are vilified by those who have been caught but no one wants reckless drivers in their town/village etc. Nice sensible approach from all parties.
Whilst they interacted nicely, it’s clearly scoping out an area for revenue potential. Used to be decided by how many collisions there were, now that cars are generally better at stopping collision rate as a result of speed is dropping. Collisions are generally caused by distraction. Don’t get me wrong, greater speeds do cause worse collisions. Not necessarily more though. It’s mobile phones that are worse. Why aren’t they monitoring more for that instead?

thats a complete waste of manhours , when the police checks for those speed issues down here, they install a temp radar (no pictures) on any suitable pole and leave it running for a week or two, data is then analysed and measures taken accordingly . This box is about 40x30x20 (cm) , grey and is as good as invisible, motorists are not informed about data collection, only speeds and vehicle counts are collected
you should pick them up on impersonating a police officer. having a jacket with police in big letters then community support underneath is nefarious and gives the impression they are police .

i would have asked for his shoulder number just so you could put a message of thanks through his station for being so good and approachable. this is how all should be acting. i wouldn't have minded giving out the channel name in that sort of situation when he was being friendly. didn't mind explaining how everything worked. i do wonder though if his attitude was different to many because he knew what an auditor was?
Bout time Essex County Council put in speed measures to slow the traffic down, such as gates at intervals, then there would be any need for expensive coppers.
They still have to have, and checked for, a clear and fully visual speed sign, and a camera sign, on the road they are scanning, before any major junction or roundabout.

All our mobile speed cameras are operated by highly-trained police support staff, not police officers or pcso's. That's who operates speed enforcement camera vans and they don't have any policing powers, employed just to record speeding motorists
They issue those speed guns to members of the public, as mentioned in the video, to stand in their villages or towns in hi-viz and 'zap' cars passing through; for them to write down the vehicle registrations and hand to the local police for "warning letters" to be sent out. So, if a member of the public can be issued one... (when it comes to successfully prosecuting, however, I am not sure if the evidence needs to come from an actual constable)

1) Always ask “how many serious accidents have been caused by speed on this road in the last 2 years. The correct answer is always… None. Speed doesn’t cause accidents, bad driving does. 2) they’re supposed to be highly visible. The agreement NPCC agreement is checks are always highly visible. 3) Note there has to be a Constable - or no tickets can be issued. You can wind them up by discussing the high levels of equipment training they have, and the immense skill required to point at a car and read a number eg 35 and then deduct 30 from that. Gosh. Most forces don’t fight “speed” any more. Only bad driving causes accidents (and mechanical failure). It’s why jets fly every day. It’s safe. These are facts. Stating them and proving them make me the intelligent one, and YOU the Trolls.

I did traffic monitoring when I was at school, I wrote big red bus, yellow lorry ,CAR I was about 5 . See these guys got top assignment.

Speedwatch can only give you a safety letter telling you been clocked speeding so slow down next time. The police send the letters out for Speedwatch.
