That is unknown. Perhaps one day we will invent portal hole or fusion powered bullet train that only cost you $50 so jet becomes obsolete. Then KLM and emirates and such all went bankruptcy. Just right before their inevitable fail, you get to fly from London to NYC on first class for $1499.95. just like the K2 train from beijing to moscow.

He was on Emirates, they hub internationally in Dubai. We had a similar experience last December when we went to India then Thailand. On the way back we flew west instead of east through Dubai. I know this is an old video and I don't know if he has a video documenting his way back, but I am guessing he went from Australia to Dubai then on to NY.
He might go to Dubai because planes like to go over land instead of water because if they have an emergency, they would be able to land immediately instead of waiting over water.

Most of emirates flights go to dubai then the destination Plus sometimes a plane can't hold that much fuel.
You can only fly direct to Australia from America if you leave from Hawaii as far as I know. Every other trip requires at least 1 stop over for things like re-fueling the plane. People often spend the night at the stop over to see that country for a day. I also think they prefer to make flightpaths over land than open sea.
there are no direct flights from NYC to Australia yet, however there are direct flights to Sydney from San Francisco, Dallas and LAX, you can also fly direct to Melbourne from America from San Francisco and LAX as well as Hawaii to both Sydney and Melbourne
flew directly to sydney from seattle 3 months ago (14hr flight).
not so sure about direct from NYC... seems a bit far for a commercial plane to do in one go. i can see a private jet doing that no problem.

Considering the fact that it was a ticket for an extremely small chartered flight it's very unlikely that would happen. Also considering how high profile a customer UA-cam would be it's unlikely that the company would let the people controlling who was on the flight let anyone but the real passengers on.
