bert is a perfect bass...he just fits in at any moment... pierre is tHE drummer ! effortless perfection.. trying to characterize jan as a guitar player would be an insult...he IS the guitar !
For me every aspect of this session and Focus are as music should be played, enjoyed , presented and appreciated. Nothing comes close these days . Seen them many times over 5 decades....
Is saw them in Clouds Disco above Green's Playhouse in Glasgow a long long time ago. They were absolutely brilliant. Not a note wasted. I particularly remember them playing this with the superb inventive soloing.
Absolutely right, version from Focus 3 is the best Focus ever did....well, Eruption too 🙂 And of course Hamburger Concerto When Akkerman left after Mother Focus, it was no longer Focus
Ik ben geboren in Sovjet Unie. Mijn oudste broer heeft lp ' live at the rainbow' op de zwarte markt gekocht omdat het muziek uit westen was verboden . Dat was uistekende optreden . Nooit vergeten. Super bedankt!
My fave band is The Who ,but Focus when i bought the Lp focus live at the rainbow blew me away ,Jan Akkerman has to be one of the most insanely genius guitarists that has ever lived
I first saw and heard Focus on one of the 70's late nite weekend USA TV's Music shows. They played Hocus Pocus which the people I saw it with thought it was very funny! The more the band played I could hear something AMAZING goin' on. Totally on it's own musical thought process and a very high level of creative and instrumental chops. When it was over I stood up and said this is one of the best groups ever. Next time you hear don't laugh!
Pretty much my experience too. None of my friends liked them but their music has gone on to be a huge part of my life - now in my mid-60s. The first LP I ever bought was Moving Waves and the second was Focus 3. I still play both albums regularly. My first live concert was Focus at the Glasgow Apollo in May 1974. After all these years they are still my #1 band. The line-up in this video is also my favourite.
Focus was so unique they had this whole jazz. Jam band thing going on. Plus the classical side too. The flute is off the chain Jan Ackermanns guitar wow !! Farout video 70s prog matched by none.
First and certainly not the last time I've seen this clip. I love Focus and have done since I was about 8 years old. Uncomparable to anything or anyone on Earth. Every one of them a master of their instrument. Majestic.
Jan akkerman God on the guitar. Growing up in the late sixties early seventies I had focus and Emerson Lake and Palmer and Jeff Beck I mean what else do you need it doesn't get any better musicianship wise😮😮😊
God I LOVE Pierre's drumming SO much! I also want to punch 70's video directors in the face for rapidly changing camera angles during drum solos!!! 😠 I want to watch and learn! 😫😭😁
They fair raced through this- it’s twenty-six minutes long on the album. Seriously though, they didn’t play their compositions by rote, did they? I wish now I’d seen this line-up live, but I was only fourteen at the time. Still play Focus III a LOT…
yes you missed some bloody good shows we saw them quite a few times in Manchester loved them, but there again there were many groups of the day we missed "such is life"
People might or might not agree with me but I like this condensed version better than the Focus 3 version. Not saying I don't like the album version though!
You can't touch this? It's ineffible music in an early rock fusion music genre. Keep carrying on you drummers, keyboard players and you guitarists all.
Bloody amazing all these years on!
Rest in peace Mr.Bert Ruiter. thanks for the amazing lines! Groove in heaven!
The 'other' half of the tightest rhythm section of the seventies..
My favourite band ever....the interaction is just unbelievable.....
How many of us over 60 still listen to FOCUS?
@@eirikask4034 Me 🙂 62 now

Best Performance ever. Great Band. They are all unique.
A Gibson Les Paul Custom with a Gretsch Filtertron pickup!!! Insane.

So much genius.4guys teleported from the baroque period to the prog jazz 70's.Brilliant shooting stars never to be heard again

I thought this was a bit overstated until I listened to the song again. So many emotions. Cheers.
Wow, top drawer, Id forgotten how good they were. What a treat this is. ♥

All songs and first 5-6 albums are great but this their best song. It got everything and amazing solos.
Absolutely right, version from Focus 3 is the best Focus ever did....well, Eruption too 🙂
And of course Hamburger Concerto
When Akkerman left after Mother Focus, it was no longer Focus
I’ve worn out 3 copies of Focus 3 since 1973 with my children playing a big part.

Brilliant! Amazing musicians
Wow😏🎸🎹🎼 Fantastic Band.
I remember having seen them live on stage in the city of Amersfoort...
Great band...all masters at what they did.

Hope to see Focus again in Belo Horizonte, Brazil!
the best composition from Focus
Insanely talented geezers. What a groovy performance.
Thijs...please release every take of these sessions XXX
Fusing classical, jazz, and rock. FAR beyond the musically elementary English blues brand of rock going on at the time.
I love this band. First heard them in 1973. Have been following them (especially Akkerman) ever since.
Jan akkerman God on the guitar. Growing up in the late sixties early seventies I had focus and Emerson Lake and Palmer and Jeff Beck I mean what else do you need it doesn't get any better musicianship wise😮😮😊
Muito bom...incrivel...gosto muito desta banda...
First time I've heard this. Very good. Highly reminiscent of the Byrds Eight Miles High.
cool the drummer of this band Focus, I will begin to deepen their musical knowledge
You should listen to some live bootlegs from 1971 and 1973, audio only, especially the 46 minute ERUPTION.... This drummer was ahead of his time.
yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssss wonderful song
sensacional 🤘👏👏👏🇧🇷😎
