Beating this boss took 30 hours and 140 deaths. Of all the bosses who can be defeated solo, Seth was easily the hardest. One of my proudest achievements.
I used a cheat code to replace Seraph's model with Gale:

This is pretty monumental right here. It's a shame that there's no way in hell that Satan is possible solo. It would've been nice to see this game fully solo-able. Great to see Seth beaten though.

I don't believe Demi-fiend looks possible to solo in DDS1, unlike in SMTV where you can max your Vit at 400.

So I recently did a Gale solo run of Digital Devil Saga 2 and Seth was by far the hardest boss I faced. This video alone cannot properly convey how ridiculous fighting this boss is in a solo run. It took me 30 hours and 140 deaths to get there. "But why is this boss so difficult ?" you may ask. Well, it's because of one simple thing: P A I N.
One of Seth's unique moves is called pain and it's a very fitting name. It's a physical almighty move that deals a ton of damage and has a really high chance to crit. The crit chance is so high that I had to equip null critical (reduces the chance of getting critically hit). This move singlehandedly turns what would be a difficult fight into a nightmare. Even at lvl99 with max HP and vitality, pain simply deals too much damage. You can die at any moment if Seth feels like critting you. Because it's an almighty attack it cannot be blocked so you are forced to endure the pain but wait, it gets worse !
The fact that I chose Gale to solo the game made this boss even harder for 2 reasons: the 1st one is about his weakness. Gale has an innate elec weakness and because I'm so starved for slots in this fight, I couldn't afford to cover it. Seth's AI is smart and he will go for maziodyne to abuse Gale's weakness which can lead to unfortunate scenarios. Thankfully after he takes enough damage Seth will start using Silent Howl and when that happens, he stops using maziodyne. This is why my plan for this fight was switching to human form as soon as I applied buffs & debuffs at the start and then dealing damage until I saw Silent Howl. The 2nd issue is that Gale's gun damage is extremely weak. Seth naturally resists everything except for gun, his one weakness. This is perfect when using Seraph because Prana Beam deals a lot of gun damage but with Gale it's a different story. Not only is Gale's assault rifle damage mediocre, it's also luck based because it can either hit once or twice. Going with Gale had many downsides but there was one silver lining: Pyriphlegethon. This is a unique move that Gale gets access to and it's easily one of the hardest hitting attacks in the game.
Surviving in this fight is already uncertain to begin with but it gets worse when you reach the last phase. When Seth's HP drops in the red, he will start using debilitate to debuff you, ragnarok to deal damage while decreasing your defense and of course, he will keep spamming P A I N. This is when his other unique move starts becoming a problem: Spiteful Force. This almighty attack is undodgeable and its damage increases as Seth loses more and more HP. In this phase, he will stop walking into your null skills so you won't see Silent Howl or Gate of Hell ever again. When you get there, the strategy is fairly simple: you need to attack with reckless abandon to kill Seth before he kills you...which is easier said that done. If he goes for dekunda to remove my debilitates, I'm dead. If he gets a pain crit, I'm dead. My only hope is to survive long enough to get enough hits in to end the fight and for that...you literally need the planets to align.
It was truly painful but I'm glad I managed to do it. Easily one of my proudest achievements. Also in hindsight, I should've used the passive skill Physical Absorb instead of Null Physical. It would've made the early stages of the fight easier when Seth still goes for Gate of Hell. Nullifying an attack takes away 2 press turns and Seth has 3. If he opens the enemy phase with Gate of Hell, after the attack gets blocked he has another press turn that he can use to hit me. But when you absorb an attack, it completely shuts down the enemy phase and you get healed. Not sure why I forgot about it but oh well. At least the nightmare is over !

As someone who has watched DDS1 vid, seems like the foreshadowing was real... Also what is ur thoughts on strange journey? Im currently trying to farm for the Frost Cannon for flexibility but the 1 drop i need doesnt want to come home.
